I contacted Yard Birds to come to my house to fix a sprinkler system. I was misinformed by another company as to what the issue was. Yard Birds owner took the time to explain to me where my problem could actually be coming from. He promptly sent his crew to diagnose the issue. Jack and his partner arrived and worked hard digging holes to locate the broken wire. Jack clearly explained to me my options and his plan since the broken wire was determined to be either under a large tree root system or beneath the pool deck. They came back the next day when they said they would and ran wire, covered all the holes, and checked the entire system out. You could tell they were being really respectful of the property and trying their best to fill and level the ground to make it look good. They even used some of the dirt to go to an area where they noticed erosion and filled that in too. I have used Yard Birds multiple times in the past 25 years. My wife and I hired Yard Birds in 2021 after meeting owner Brandon Rekemeyer. He gave us locations of job sites, and after driving past several of their job sites locally, and hearing a recommendation from a friend, we liked what we saw and heard, and hired Yard Birds for an extensive lawn, landscaping, and tree removal job on our property. Brandon even allowed me to do some of the work myself, and when I punctured a drain on my property that I was unaware of (oops) Brandon recommended that we pull up the whole pipe and replace it. Brandon replaced the pipe and installed it and didn't charge me an extra penny for my mistake that cost his time. Brandon and his crew finished the job to our satisfaction, and beyond. Two years later in 2023 we hired Yard Birds again to do a makeover on our pond. This required more large tree removal, much excavator work, and great skill in shaping the outer edge of our 1/2 acre pond into a heart shape (I know, cheesy:). I am personal friends with the owners of two equipment rental places that Yard Birds uses regularly, and both have great working relationship with Brandon and his company. I would recommend Brandon and Yard Birds to anyone interested in professional and highly experienced work. read more

Called them to fix my sprinkler system, they charged $465 and told me how they dug up my yard to fix the sprinkler. They never dug up my yard and the service that I needed is for them to put a sprinkler head in the front of my house. The original appointment went well, but it was just to look around and quote. We agreed to do some sprinkler repair and Yard Birds was going to get back to us on another quote for drainage work. When they showed up for the sprinkler repair they billed a half hour longer than they actually worked and also billed us for parts at a much higher rate than you can buy at Home Depot. We had a tough time getting the drainage estimate, but don't plan to use them again regardless. read more

If zero stars were possible, that's what I'd say. Absolutely the worst when it comes to customer service! They are over priced and under deliver ... a combo that certainly spells a bad future for a company. Before I decided to cancel my service after 1 1/2 years of mediocre yard work, I was told that I had service until the end of the month. Then, lo and behold, when I cancelled, they said, "oops, no more service as of the 15th". When pressed, Christina (Christine?), was obnoxious, loud and rude. When I asked to speak to the owner, he wasn't there, of course. When I asked for a call back I got none. The only happy outcome here is that I have a wonderful replacement .... should have cancelled Yardbirds years ago! Don't make my mistake. read more

Yard Birds has done amazing landscape work for us for over 15 years. From planning the perfect beds and plants to installation - they are by far the best in the business. We had such beautiful results with Yard Birds at our previous home, we recently asked them to complete a project at our current home that sits on almost an acre of land. It was a huge project that included large, raised beds filled with a variety of palm trees and beautiful flowering plants, lots of lighting, drainage, irrigation, and an outdoor kitchen! We are happy to say that we were beyond impressed with the work from start to finish and are now enjoying our paradise everyday! Very disappointing! Took off a morning of work to meet with a sales rep at my home to get a quote to do all the landscaping in my backyard. I was told I would have a quote in 1 week and here we are 4 weeks later and cannot even get a call back. The job is roughly a $9,000 (received other quotes), but I guess this job was not big enough for the rep to take me seriously. read more

Dave came to our house to see what job we wanted to do. We wanted a quote for a new sprinkler system, build up in the back yard, and new flower bed. He said he would send us a quote a week later. One month later and I still haven't heard back. Then I got a random text from someone who didn't introduce himself saying that Dave wanted him to check out the yard for the install. I'm sorry I've never heard back. The install isn't happening. Not professional at all. Maybe you should follow up! read more

First class landscaping company! From start to finish Corey and his crew did an awesome job! Their design work and installation of our own personal private backyard retreat is fantastic. Thanks to these guys our backyard is now the best part of our house and we get compliments every time we have company. I would highly recommend them if you're needing new landscaping, re-doing already existing landscaping, or just maintenance in general.We recently moved into our second house in Kingwood and they did such a great job on the first house that we went back to them for landscaping at our new house. This time we added a pool in the design was a little more complicated but Corey and his team worked great with our pool builder. read more

Excellent company who does what they promise! We had them remove a large tree from our front yard and then fill the hole with garden soil. They didn't arrive until after 6 PM and worked until almost 9:30PM. They took the time to clean up the area entirely and left it looking neat and tidy. A few days after we noticed we didn't get garden soil but mulch. I called the company and within hours they were back, removed the mulch and added the soil. Joanne called me and explained that she was new, at the time of this work, and since she was so caring, in her response to fix any problems, I'm revising our review...adding stars. I do appreciate her coming back and fixing the flowers and retrenching the area we agreed upon. They will trim the Crape Myrtle when the season is right. Thank you for reponding so quickly and kindly I do recommend their service to everyone. They stand behind what they do. Original Review: I hired Yard Birds to replace some plants that had been beaten up over time and by the Hurricane. I also hired them to weed, trim a tree, all the bushes and transplant a huge sago palm some other place in our yard...as well as retrench an area that needed help. They quoted me about $3,670.00 with tax. Joanne, is a nice person and she helped me pick out plants. She seems to care. However, she either didn't tell her workers everything or they didn't care to follow instructions. I ended up directing them when she left and I was shocked at what they didn't know to do. The transplanted Sago ended up in the trash and other things we agreed to, in writing, like cutting my Crape Myrtle and re-trenching an area...but these things were NOT done. They decided the tree was too tall to trim. But nothing was removed from the bill for negligence. She also put some flowers in a bad location...without asking me if they would work there and they look sad...right at the entry to our home. I've thought about tearing them out and putting something that I know will grow well. But I paid for them to do this. I paid them so I wouldn't have to do yard work this year...after dealing with inside damage from Hurricaine Harvey. Raking our grass was done after I had to tell her workers they neglected it...but it was done poorly. They were acting like they didn't know why I was making them do this...as if they were not told about it. They also decided NOT to trim my Oleanders and I had to ask them why this wasn't being done. They decided it wasn't a good time but I was never told about this decision. I made them cut them anyhow. I basically supervised them and I was trying to hire a professional company so I could take a break from supervising yard workers. I can get cheap workers to supervise them for less money...if this is what I want. I was paying for a personal touch. Joanne told me she would get back to me regarding the tree not being trimmed and she never did. If she doesn't get back to me soon I will be leaving this kind of feedback on every site I can. I would rather leave possitive feedback and go on about how I loved the service...but I wasn't able to experience things this way. I do not recommend them...at this point in time. We will see if they respond...after not completing the job we paid for. I felt like their workers wanted to do it fast and go...so they did. If I wasn't there it would have been worse.
