The best dance studio in nyc, the classes are fun yet challenging, the instructors are patient but want to push you. Go try it for yourself!

While this school offers a strong dance program and talented instructors, parents should be aware…read moreof certain challenges with the way the school is managed. Recently, I had an unavoidable conflict -- my family had planned a surprise retirement party for me, a once-in-a-lifetime event. It happened to fall on the same day as a mandatory rehearsal. I reached out to the school immediately, explained the situation, and asked if an exception could be made so my daughter could attend this important family milestone. Unfortunately, the owner was inflexible, showed no empathy, and made it clear that if my daughter missed rehearsal, she would not be allowed to perform. Over the course of the season, I spent more than $700 on tickets, costumes, and shoes. Spending the money was not the issue -- I understand that dance can be costly -- but when there is a total lack of flexibility and understanding, it leaves a sour taste. In my opinion, family should always come first. Because of this experience, my daughter will no longer be attending this dance school. I will be looking for a place where family is valued and people are treated with respect and professionalism. Communication is another area that could be improved. The school relies solely on email for important updates -- no reminders are sent home with students, no text alerts, and no phone calls. For busy, working parents who are not constantly checking email, this can easily lead to missed information. A modern, multi-channel reminder system would make a big difference. If you're looking for a rigorous, performance-focused program, this may be a good fit. But if you value flexibility, empathy, and consistent, accessible communication, you may want to consider these factors before enrolling.

I did bring this issue to the owner and she refused to refund a months worth of classes for both of my kids. I did NOT authorize auto-pay and I submitted a message in the parent portal to cancel my children's membership 5 business days prior to May 1st. Unethical business practices are a no-no in my book. My kids are never going back! I have no reason to lie I have had a decent experience up until this point. However, I must warn others about unethical business practices.

Her teacher ms. Alexis is awesome and my daughter loves her classes. They just had their recital and it was amazing!!! Last year I was a back stage mom but this year I decided to sit in the audience and watch, my daughter had two numbers. after the first one I was able to go and sit with her and wait for the second number. Ms. Geena is so nice and helpful and great with the kids. I can't say enough about this school the classes are by far more professional than any other school we have been to. Mrs. Lisa is also amazing always very attentive and very warm, the numbers that she choreographed were amazing. I have recommended this school to others at my daughter's school and we will definitely be going back this fall and my daughter can't wait to start her new classes with ms. Alexis thanks DMPA you guys are awesome

During the summer I could…read moreget away with the NYC Parks free lap swim program but during the rest of the year I have to find a real gym that does not hurt your wallet (or require you to sell your organs on ebay). The Bronx House solves that problem for me. I am a big fan of the variety of fitness class offerings and indoor cycling is the most popular (the class fills up right after the previous ab class). Cherelle, who leads this class on Tuesdays, is a great trainer and puts the hurt locker on while making exercise on a stationary bike "fun". The pool is 25 yards and way shorter than an olympic size pool (50 meters). Size matters, eh? During lap swim hours, the pool is divided into two lanes: slow and slower. For those who need a good workout, be prepared to swim around your neighbors. During the summer, test your patience with all of the visitors with day passes. The gym and pool hours are limited and designated for classes and gender/age groups. If the location works for you and you can accept the limited schedules, join the Bronx House. The gym, with the TRX equipment alone is superior to most of the $20 gyms in the area. Make sure to review the calendar for holiday and maintenance closings. I have made the mistake of showing up on a holiday and doing the sad Charlie Brown walk of shame home. IFHTP 3+
