Being from New York where you may not get the best in the world, but very close second. With that being said, it's really hard to find good sushi in many places in the world, and I'm really happy that I've found this place. They have authentic sushi where the chef has to prepare and age fish to draw out peak flavor and I can honestly say that the chef here knows his ingredients. I wasn't fan of the Brie cheese and cucumber roll, but everything else was fantastic. If you are in Brussels and are craving sushi, you should definitely check this place out. read more

Found this spot because I was craving sushi on a lazy Saturday afternoon and I researched some places through yelp. I thought this place was great. Me and my boyfriend shared a huge sushi and sashimi platter and it was delicious. The rice was nice and the fish fresh. Although I liked it, I was a bit confused why they had cheese makis in an otherwise traditional sushi mix and I didn't like the taste of those. Apart from that it was perfect. First time coming here. Wanted some Japanese food in Belgium and they served up well. With a wide range to choose from on their menu, in a lovely small but good establishment. I enjoyed myself with my fiancé and we would definitely come again next time we visit. read more

AMAZING! Best sushi in brussels with reasonable prices. Since I live nearby I prefer take-away but the interior and athmosphere are very nice too, so you could definitely spent your evening there. Theres also lots and lots of different japanese dishes, so not only sushi. Service for take-away is farely fast, if you dont decide to go on a friday/saturday evening since those are the busiest nights. Definitely worth checking out. Only downside is that during the mentioned times it can get quite noisy. read more

Decently nice inside, good service for belgium. Food on the other hand... Miso soup - more bitter than it should be and disappointing. We tried four types of rolls, futomaki simply because we're californian and generally prefer perverted californianized sushi. All four futomaki rolls had huge amounts of cucumber and pickle in them. Yes pickle. Everything tasted purely of cucumber and pickle. There was so much that my jaw started to ache from the crunch of it. Zero balance in the flavor profile. My assumption here is that either the chef's don't know what they are doing, or that they are trying to save money and think that huge chunks of cucumber and pickle in every single roll is the best "filler" material. Maybe the Nigiri would be better, but what we tried was about as good as Trader Joe's. The best thing was the edamame. That was the only thing on the menu I'd order again. read more

A really lovely place with an authentic Japanese atmosphere (simple wooden furniture and plain decoration. We decided to go on a whim on a Sunday evening and booked a table, knowing it was quite popular. Indeed, the place was quite packed and so, service a bit slow. I'd say that's the only aspect of Yama Sushi that would keep me from given them 5 stars. The food was excellent and our waiter was extremely helpful and welcoming. The gyoza are delicious as well as the edamame beans, which we shared as appetiser. We then ordered various kinds of maki, rolls and nigiri. They were all absolutely lovely. My favourite type of nigiri is the unagi, and it kind of serves me as a benchmark for all sushi places, and it was really, really good here. I'd give a small minus as well for a roll that the waiter recommended as one of their best, which had butter fish and some kind of strong cheese inside...a bit weird. Aside from that, it was really great and I definitely recommend Yama Sushi to all sushi lovers! read more
