Tried Yama for the first time! I was grateful when they didn't kick me out... I walked in right at 2:30 when their kitchen normally closes. They graciously took my order and presented me with a well prepared meal and I did not feel rushed. I ordered the Toro, Unagi and Rock N Roll roll. The roll was the best!! Will definitely be back!

Weekend adventures entail a new spot, and because of distance and time, well happenstance Yama. And it was a delight. A very busy place indeed full of locals. Service was wonderful and prompt. The servers here pull a good weight, balancing several tables while keeping a smile and warm welcome, sometimes absent at such establishments. For our 1st visit, we selected Pearl, Pink, Dragon, Gold Fish, and Paradise. All are fantastic. We'll definitely be back to try the hand rolls and a la carte options. Pearl: Fried oyster, cream cheese, avocado, tobiko, and shrimp. Pink: Eel, cucumber, avocado, topped with salmon and masago. Dragon: Crab stick, tuna, cucumber, eel, avocado, and masago. Gold Fish: Fresh salmon, avocado, spicy white tuna, crunch with wasabi and mayo on top. Paradise: Shrimp tempura, fresh mango, spicy tuna, avocado, and sweet chili sauce on top. #kanpai

Stumbled on this quaint local spot while we were in Annapolis running errands. Service - need to work on speed, we sat for about 20 mins before the server came by to take our order. Food - was on point. The seaweed salad was delicious. The sushi we ordered was fresh and prepared to order. Teriyaki chicken and salmon were tasty. Definitely will go back!

Came here for a Friday date night and it was packed! We were seated within 5 mins and had great service from server Victoria. We ordered edamame and gyoza which were both great. The gyoza was pan fried so not too oily. Edamame was warm and salted nicely. The rolls were all good sizes (8 pieces) and very tasty. Our server even brought us a complimentary bite-sized cheesecake with our bill. Overall excellent food and service.

This is a place I've gone to with my parents a few times. it's gotten busier and more popular over the years. The food is solid for the price and family-friendly, if that makes sense -- not fancy, not the highest quality ingredients or prep, not a "romantic" vibe, but comfortable and good with many options and affordable prices. So I'll base my rating with those expectations. Dinosaur egg: 5/5. Perhaps their most unique dish. Egg-shaped avocado filled with tempura shrimp and topped with roe. Shrimp tempura: 5/5. A good amount of shrimp with some vegetable variety, fried well with an appropriate amount of dipping sauce. Paradise roll: 5/5. My favorite roll of the night. Has mango, crunch, and a kick. Philly roll: 4.5/5. It's a good Philly roll, what more can I say Futo maki roll: 3.5/5. Vegetables didn't seem the freshest. It was fine. Crazy volcano roll: 3.5/5. Didn't seem like a lot of interesting flavor for all that was going on. Maybe was served a little cold (it was battered and fried) in the midst of preparing the other rolls together? Gyoza: 3/5. Never had gyoza with shrimp before but it's fine. I would've liked it to be crispier on the fried side. Maybe a bit more flavor in the filling too. Hitachino red rice ale: 5/5. Great choice of beer! Sushi and sashimi regular combo: 3.5/5 overall. A few cuts were really good, the rest alright. Service: 4/5. Prompt enough for how busy it was, and nice enough. Thanks for dealing with my parents. :)

This is my dad's favorite sushi spot and boy does he have good taste! Sushi is my favorite food so I'm pretty picky with it. When I came to visit him, he was excited to show me this local gem. If you're looking for a place to eat, look no more! Come to Yama Sushi. They use high quality fish here. Our waiter was extremely sweet. He was also very descriptive when we asked about the different types of sake they had. Here is what we ordered: Yama Salad: I got this right before my roll and it was so refreshing. The best thing for a hot summer day. The sauce was very yummy and fresh. Pink Dragon: I'm an eel addict, but I also have a salmon obsession. Most places I go to don't mix the two together, which leaves me wondering until the last second which roll I should order. When I saw that I didn't have to pick between the two, I was ecstatic. This roll was divine! The eel was prepared differently than I'm used to. The sauce was sweeter than I'm used to, but this just enhanced it. Yama Lunch Box: This is an amazing lunch special for only $10.50! It gets you two rolls, dumplings, soup, and salad. My dad got a California Roll and Spicy Salmon Roll with his box. The dumplings that came inside were mouth-watering. I'm drooling a little writing about them. Everything else that came in the box was done to perfection. Seaweed Salad: This sweet and tangy salad was a wonderful addition to our sushi. Its crunch was just right. They were very patient with us here. My dad wanted to order a roll to go for his coworker and they kindly took our order even though they were closing in less than 10 minutes. Yama Sushi has my vote as one of the best places to eat sushi in Annapolis!

My favorite sushi spot in around Annapolis. Fish is always soft and fresh. The Dino egg appetizer is a must!

We are very much Thai fans, and the possibility of a great Thai place with great sushi was sounded almost too good to be true. And it was. Perhaps it's the dearth of quality Asian cuisine here in the Annapolis area that has falsely produced such high marks for Nova, but we found our fare to be adequate at best. (Two from our dinner party opted for the descriptor of "meh") The ambiance is cute - clean, bright, with exceptionally friendly (and numerous!) waitstaff. Our servers were helpful and attentive and we had high hopes for the experience. We started with three sushi rolls: Edgewater, Yoda, and one other whose name escapes me . The rolls were good. Not earthshatteringly good - just solid. Like a dependable Chevy truck. We also tried the sizzling steak and the chicken pad Thai. Both were almost over sauced. The pad Thai had a nice sour note (a hallmark of the dish) but it almost felt like the noodles were swimming in the sauce and, in my opinion, the noodles began to break down as a consequence. The sizzling steak felt cloyingly sweet to me - but the others in the group were quite as put off as I was. Again - making the meal simply "fine" As much as we hoped to find that hidden gem - we found that we need to continue our search for Asian cuisine in the area

All were good except for the yoda and Philly roll, which were ok. The service was fast and our waitress refilled our waters frequently. The interior was nice and piano music was playing in the background.
