    Miso soup and avocado salad!
    Justine W.

I used to go here years ago when it was called Haru! I'm back today for dinner with friends and it's still as delicious. The staff is always kind and the food comes quick. Generally a low price point for sushi and sit down meals. It always has multiple parties in and they also do take-out. Definitely the best sushi in Turnersville and there's plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. They also serve the Japanese sodas too!

Tempura fried roll on left. Really tasty!

Classic hole-in-the-wall joint serving surprisingly good food. We have been here twice now & really like this place. The service is especially pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. Everything we had was of above-average quality for a Jersey strip mall restaurant. Not the best mind you, but considering its location it was pretty darn good! BYOB too.

DELICIOUS. Valentine roll in particular was out of this world. Fabulous presentation - above and beyond. Quick service. Great sushi and great value. Also loved the Japanese sodas - unique, never seen them anywhere else! Highly recommend.

    dumpling soup
    Amy P.

Found this sushi place on Yelp when we were craving something new and different than our usual go-to sushi takeout. Don't blink or you may pass right by Haru which is quite hidden within the Acme plaza. Their service was excellent and we had the pleasure of freshening up with a warm wash cloth while we browsed their huge menu. After taking what felt like ages to decide (my fault) we ordered the avocado salad, miso soup, and dumpling soup for starters. All 3 were great but especially the dumpling soup which was a great spin off the usual wonton soup. Dumplings were very fresh and broth was flavored with onions and scallions. For our main sushi course I ordered the deluxe roll (spicy crab, cucumber, and avocado topped with spicy tuna), and my husband ordered the red dragon roll (crunchy spicy tuna with avocado on top) and the crab naruto roll. My daughter ordered her usual cucumber avocado roll (but actually sampled ours for the first time). Everything we ordered was very fresh and flavorful! There were so many items on the menu but I'm glad we chose these three for our first time. We also had the tempura green tea ice cream for dessert which was a huge hit with our daughter. I can't wait for our next sushi night because we're definitely going back to sample other rolls!

I really enjoyed this place. Stopped in for lunch, and it ended up being a whole dining experience. The tuna tartar was very good though not all all like traditional tuna tartar. It was almost like a raw tuna cake, but very delicious. A bunch of lunch specials. Bento box was great. Soup was delicious. It looked very clean. We were one of 3 tables for lunch. It is a decent enough size to accommodate larger parties. BYOB Servers were extremely attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back! Great to have another (non-chain) restaurant in town!

My name is RumGirl and I am a sushi addict. I have been for several years and after meeting my new dealer this evening, I am afraid it is going to get much much worse. Sushi is hard to come by in this area. Let me rephrase that. Good sushi is hard to come by in this area. In most cases the end result is that you get what you pay for. Good fresh sushi = big bucks. Cheap sushi = a date with Pepto bismol on the bathroom floor for the next few days. You can't mess with raw fish. You gotta go for the good stuff but I'm not breakin the bank for somethin that is not even cooked. Seriously! My big pet peeves with most sushi places are 1. weak selection 2. price 3. taste. I am tired of seeing the same old rock n roll roll or the dynamite roll which are contained with a lot of fillers such as imitation crab, avacado, and some mystery fish they chop up and mix with spicy mayo that isn't so spicy. Boring. Unexciting. Been there. Done that. I want something new. I want more variety. I am like a crack addict awaiting impatiently for a new fix. I want. I want. Itch. scratch. I need. I want. Scratch. Scratch. Itch. Twitch. Someone please get me to the next level!!!!! My good friend and sushi addict Stacey has been raving about Haru Japan for a month now. At first I was mistaken and assumed it was part of the Philly/NY Haru chain which I have been to a few times. Tasty but super pricey. I once spent my whole rent check eating a piece of go reef (gold leaf) on a tiny piece of raw fish. I thought it would taste like Goldschlager but it tasted like...hmmm... I can't remember. And who pays $300 for a meal they can't remember? Silly, stupid, rich people. That's who! So, my sushi junkies, this is a new place; a family owned Japanese restaurant located smack dab in the middle of the Acme shopping center on Egg Harbor Rd. In Washington Twp. (All the twp. girls hollaaaaaa!) No high haired skanky township girls here. This is the real deal. Sushi freaking heaven. Forget the crack pipe. THIS is the ultimate high. Three pages of special sushi rolls. Just the special ones and you know I am all about being special. THREE FREAKING PAGES!!!! Crazy roll, red dragon roll, incredible roll, spicy girl roll, Eagle roll, roll around on the floor and drool roll. I can't tell you what was in what but the fat roll above my belt was happy happy! These guys get BIG POINTS for variety. Best ever. Let me tell you that we broke a sweat trying to decide. I mean, this was tough work. Stacey whips out her own copy of the extensive menu. My husband has to take notes to help him remember his order. I want to try it all!!!! I want. I need. Sniff. Sniff. Itch. Scratch. Cough. And I need it NOW!!! I got a little giddy between the company, wine, and the tedious task of deciding what to order. Amy, our lovely hostess was very helpful in recommending and describing some of the rolls to us. We ordered and ordered and ordered some more. Now, I know you are probably curious to how much money I am about to spend on this dinner. Surprisingly? Not much. ALL the special rolls and I mean all 3 pages of special rolls are 50% off. I wanted to kiss these people. Really! Most specialty rolls cost you 12 to 15 bucks on average. These babies were $7!!!! As my husband says "It's like a dead baby seal, ya can't beat it." Now that PETA is on my butt after that comment, I'll be quick. Haru sushi was delicious. Every roll was beautiful, fresh, and different. I have never tasted anything like this stuff! The crazy roll was filled with lobster salad rolled in mango and rice with a creamy honey sauce on top. Have you ever heard of anything so magical? It was! I'm still tingling form the experience. You would have thought the Red Hot Chili Peppers sat on my lap and sang happy birthday to me naked. Yeah, that good. Memorable. That's what I want when I go out to eat. I do not just want a meal. I can do that in my own kicthen. I need an experience and a taste that will linger on in my memory and on my facebook page for years to come. We all love good food with good friends but you never forget those special moments you share with your friends. I am talking about the times when you go on a culinary journey with the people you love, shove an over sized piece of raw fish and rice into your mouths, try to scream "Oh my God" and wet your pants. Now that's quite a high you never forget. Haru Japan is located on Egg Harbor Rd. in the Acme Shopping Center in Sewell, NJ. Check them out...soon. I will be back. Maybe tomorrow.

It features your staple Chinese buffet items, hibachi, ramen, and high quality sushi. As a bonus, there are four flavors of boba tea available complimentary! Just a funny thought in my head: why do they charge for soda when the more exotic and better bubble teas are complimentary? But hey, no complaints about it from me. I have tried almost everything in the two visits. The best items to get are the sushi, bubble teas, the braised pork belly, and the hibachi. Everything is exceptional too. The only dud that I've come across was their "deviled eggs". Complete miss there, it's just a boiled egg with seasonings on it, somebody didn't understand the assignment. Everything else is delicious. Props to them for having interesting desserts too, there were mochi, creme brulee, ice cream, and some cakes to name a few. I was impressed by everything out there, heck, even the fresh fruit is very high quality too. This establishment is very clean and very well run. There's always fun music playing too, it's a good time. You can tell the cleanliness with the super bright lights, these folks are not trying to hide a thing. I would 100% recommend coming here if you like all you can eat buffets.

I'm here looking for wide variety of fresh Sushi and I definitely found it. Sushi chefs are super busy at the counter preparing rice, selecting fish, preparing fish, seafood, vegetables, and assembling these brightly colored sushi rolls. We were not disappointed by the variety, the smiling staff, or the food that was constantly moving from the kitchen to the floor. I strongly suggestions the sushi and the oysters, which were also plump and fresh. Loved the Bubble Teas. The variety of food is wide ranging soups, Ramen, crab legs, fresh oysters, shrimps, chicken, duck, beef ribs, desserts, bubble teas, and so much more. Lunch and Dinner prices varies based on the time of day, which is visible when you enter the restaurant. Prices are available for carry out as well. Lots of families here today. Busy, but extremely spacious. Go visit the new spot in town, definitely a nice spot to sit down with your fam.

We arrived at noonish and they had 4 tables occupied and it smelled great in there. Nice large booths so we didn't feel cramped and had plenty of room. We started out with an appetizers of edamame and steamed goyoza. The edamame was as expected lightly salted, & fresh. The goyoza was steamed to perfection, excellent taste nice side sweet sauce added the flavor. See image. The wife had the salmon Alvacado roll and volcano roll. She stated the salmon was a nice deep red, which we would expect for a quality sushi grade, and the avocado was aged perfect, not hard, nice and soft and creamy. Her volcano roll she mentioned it was tasty and fresh, the volcano roll her was presented a bit different then other sushi places as it wasn't deep fried with spicy sea leg on top. It showed as a circular plating with crushed panko and the Kani salad on top. We both felt this was much healthier then a deep fried version and she felt it was tasteful and better. See images The kid had the amazing roll, nice plated presentation, the shrimp he said was not overcooked while deep fried and the breading on them was crispy and the tune inside was a excellent color and was a nice cut size, the pepper tuna on top he stated was fresh and sauce and mango & eel sauce was excellent on the sushi and enhanced the flavors. He had the seafood deluxe raman, first time eating raman and ordered it spicy. He stated all the seafood was cooked excellent, the lobster was cooked and cut into bite size chunks and with the spices of the raman, the shrimp, scallops and lobster picked up those flavors and he said was awsome. The learned how to use the raman spoon and roll the raman on his spoon to a nice roll up, and he said the noodles were so soft and he had allot of noodles, his favorite part was the egg and he stated next time he's getting it again, as it was spicy like he requested and it left a wonderful taste upon him. See images I also had the amazing roll and felt the same. In addition I also ordered the Angry dragon roll, the shrimp inside again was cooked to crisp perfection and tast, the tuna inside was a nice deep red and a nice cut portion size.it was topped with spicy crabmeat a nice portion of it to add to the savory flavors along with a nice plating of eel sauce & spicy mayo. Our server Inda? Was so polite and attentive while handling the 4 other tables, she was very friendly and we told her its our first time at the restaurant. My review - ID your looking for a nice clean, friendly restaurant, with friendly staff and excellent sushi, the top grade deep red salmon and perfect tuna along with mouth bursting flavor experience, you need to check out Yuzu. Also, the chef served the highest quality and cuts of fish. This was a second visit for us. I usually do a review after two visits to judge a location and this place exceeded our first visit...
