Embarrassing sushi, an abomination to food, let alone to sushi. The fish and rice are moist, so…read moreyou'd think that somehow, it would be less bad than the sushi you'd get at an airport or a 7-Eleven. But no. The fish is tasteless, as if it were Styrofoam that had soaked in water. One of the sushi types is a mere red pepper covered in rice. And I really should mention that rice - it is to rice what mashed potatoes are to potatoes - it's literally a mound of something that long, long ago, may have once been individual grains of rice. Really: avoid.

When you eat here, you get a menu to eat all you can eat for €20 which is really expensive for this not so super quality I think, or you can eat dish by dish, for which there are 5 price levels by dish color. We REALLY DID NOT APPRECIATE that they only had the MOST EXPENSIVE dishes on the conveyor belt. I was like.. what kind of marketing scam is this? Most of the dishes weren't available, and what was is limited. After about half an hour of this bullshit, we flagged down the salesperson and requested vegetarian options they said they had but were not providing- but overall they seemed unwilling to put many dishes out that were under €3. Note that for €3 you get 3-4 small pieces of sushi. Overall I thought it was expensive to eat very meager plain options. I would've gone to... any other choice I could've taken. I felt like I was at a Walmart warehouse begging the sales associate to give me the item advertised on sale at the actual sale price which they didn't want to offer.

The interior of the restaurant is simplistic but also grounded in woody/home-y vibes, which makes it welcoming. Not to be dramatic but I had some of the best sashimi ever here (otoro, chutoro, akami and yellowtail - even though I don't normally like yellowtail). The dishes were carefully assembled and plated, and the servers were very attentive the entire meal. Some dishes stood out more than others, and the ones that were most memorable, I've attached pictures of. I can't remember exactly what was in the dish but the one in the blue bowl included eggplant and changed flavors as I ate it, which was a nice, unexpected surprise. At the end of the meal, the owner chatted with every group to gauge everyone's experiences and feedbacks. Overall, a nice first kaiseki experience.

The plates seem small but they add up and you won't leave hungry. I have to say I was a little disappointed that after a year and a half, I returned to find the menu to be largely the same. None the less worth it and a must eat in Berlin.

Totally enjoyed. Gyu don was just the way I wanted it, rice was well-covered in sauce, but not soggy nor swimming as some other Japanese restaurents I experienced. The only issue we had was the portion of Sake don, it would have been perfect if the portion had been as generous as Gyu don. However, the service was pleasant. We would definitely go back.

The menu is nice and easy to cover - about 8 appetizer, 6 udon soups and 6 don dishes which allows you to get a good feel for what they are all about in one sitting. My friend and I shared the japanese omelette and the gyazu as an appetizer which I can both recommend. I chose the Gyu Don which they actually didn't have and what kinda caused me to give 4 stars only. We then actually ordered the sake don and the chicken terriyaki don. Both looked and tasted absolutely fantastic! To complete the experience we chose the "3 out of 8 sake sampler" for 12€ that allows you to trial 3 of the 8 sake they offer in their restaurant. Whenever I am back there is just Onigiri and Udon left to try. Check this place out! Really good...

Takoyaki is a speciality in this restaurant and as simple as that I obviously had to get them. So far these were the best Takoyakis I had in Germany but they are a rare species to begin with. Unfortunately I have one major complaint. The Takoyakis were not fresh and hot. They came out very fast which is surprising considering how long it usually takes to make them. I can only assume they were pre-prepared and finished to order. You could argue that I took pictures but I only needed about 5 minutes for that and all the Takoyakis I had in Japan still burned my mouth even after that time. These here were warm and could be eaten as a whole which I would never do in Japan! SERVICE Lovely service. The staff also explained the different Takoyaki variants on your plate at the table. ATMOSPHERE Small and simple restaurant. I decided to sit at a table outside because I felt it was nothing special. RATING If my Takoyakis were hot and "fresh" it would have taken me back to Japan instantly. I think when you put an item on the front of your menu, you should give it your best even if the customer has to wait. I will gladly wait thirty minutes or longer for hot and fresh Takoyakis. They still get my recommendation!
