I've been wanting to get balayage for the longest but was too afraid that I wouldn't be getting what I want. After plenty of google searches I came across Yaffa Salon and decided to go in based on reviews. I was not disappointed . Gina was so helpful and did exactly what I wanted. I am obsessed with my hair. I don't think I can ever go back to black hair. I will definitely be going back for my haircuts and touch ups

I've been going to Yaffa for almost four years now - she's an exceptional stylist and runs an amazing salon! We've gone from short to long, warm to cool and everything in between! I always had a hard time trusting anyone with my hair I believe it been almost 12 years since I would let anyone touch my hair until I meet Amanda and yaffa they are amazing they know exactly what treatment goes for your hair to what product it best for you and vitamins. Every other staff member is also amazing from Front desk to back everyone works together as a team to give you the best treatment possible and I have yet to have a wait time when I come here I would totally recommend anyone to come here you be treated with the best service ever

The best salon ever!!! I live in Florida and every time I'm back in NY I come here. No one else is allowed to touch my hair. The girls are all so sweet!!! Amanda is awesome!! Don't hesitate and come! Get the scalp and deep conditioning treatment.

I'm giving 2 stars, bc over the years I've liked my haircuts at Yaffas but I'm beyond disappointed in my color service which was nearly $400 and should've been done right for that price. I went in for a cool tone balayage and this is what I received. I even came it for it to be "corrected" and this is the end result, bleached twice, 6+ hours wasted and I'm not even close to a cool toned balayage, and while admitting the color service was both streaky and orange the first time, they charged me for a blowout & treatment ($50+25) plus tipping even though they had to correct the poor job that was done and blow dry so I could see the final color. I shouldn't have had to pay for that. A balayage is blended highlights (+$180) and they charge separately for toning ($40+) even tho both root smudging (+$150 root smudge) and toning should be a part of what achieving a balayage is. $70 haircut and blow out, $25 treatment, $35 scalp scrub. Which they insist you do and don't mention price until the end. Then due to poor scheduling about 3-4 people will work on your hair - $10 tip pp on average. Over $400. I use purple shampoo + conditioner from VERG at Sephora and haven't touched a pool since my color service.

I came to the salon to see Maria. She was absolutely wonderful!!! I've been very stressed because my previous colorist was just not understanding what I wanted done to my hair and she just kept over processing me as a blonde. We know how frustrating this could be!!! When my friend referred me to Maria she literally transform my head!!! I couldn't be happier with the results. I found my new go to Girl PS the salon was also very clean, and everyone was very friendly ...which gave it a really great vibe !!! read more

Complete waste of money. I walked in with blonde all I asked for was dark roots and low lights. My hair came out looking all brown so she offered to color correct the ends. Instead she color corrected everything but the roots so now I'm left with the same hair I walked in with and dark roots. Waste of $250. Obsurd read more

I had a great first time experience and am very happy with the results. Amanda was fantastic and took her time to give me tips on how to take better care of my hair while she cut and blow dried it. Sometimes going somewhere new can be daunting, especially when it comes to your hair, but I felt at ease and like I had been going to the salon for years! Amanda, Tony, and Danny were very nice and I had a great time talking to them. And of course, Yaffa was incredibly welcoming and lovely as well. Yaffa has been doing my hair for YEARS and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She does every service flawlessly and I 100% trust that she will always lead me in the right direction for my hair care. She's also a fantastic colorist and I recommend laser hair removal at the salon as well. All the stylists here are excellent... and super sweet too. The staff here is amazing. Location is prime. Parking is decent. The atmosphere of the salon is very welcoming, Ana - you're the best thanks for my blow out and great conversation. You're a gem. Emily - you handle washing with the utmost care and made sure I was comfortable all the way through. Such a breeze. Amanda did an amazing job with my hair today as usual. I was struggling to compete this review because the staff was overall REALLY nice. I will give you my honest review and you all can decide. 1. I called a few places for a same day appointment. I also was calling to find reasonable prices. Unanimously- everyone will say this is the base price but it depends on your hair. Yaffa was accommodating and got me in within 20 mins. 2. The salon is right on Union Tpke - so depending on time it can get alittle busy. Street parking is your only option. 3. The staff is really nice. They were talkative and welcoming. I will say - it's very obvious they have their "regulars" 4. The salon is clean and pretty. Following all Covid precautions. Once I got to the salon, I wasn't sure what I wanted done - other than a natural balayage with cut and blow dry. I was told I had dry scalp and so I added on that treatment. The whole process took 4 hours!!!!! At the end I was tired and just wanted to get home. I wasn't thrilled with my color but everyone in the store was raving. They also sold me a blue Redkin shampoo/conditioner- not sure I really needed it. I'm clearly a sucker to not be rude or say no. I appreciated the time they took to work on me. I got home and everyone said it was not natural at all! I ended up calling the next day and having it glazed. They, again were accommodating and after the glaze it looked better. I was upset Bc it cost double what I had expected ($350 +). Also, they took pic to post on IG and never did - so I wonder if they knew the first attempt Wasn't good You live and learn! read more

The nicest girls work here to make your hair vision reality. I have straight black hair and they (Gina) gave me a beautiful balayage whilst maintaining the integrity of my hair. The balayage looked even more gorgeous as my hair lived in for a month or so. Needless to say, I've been back numerous times since. read more

A neighborhood gem in the bayside/queens village area. I used to go all the way into Manhattan in order to get the type of cut and styling I like, but ever since I got put on to Yaffa - I've been so happy to find a quality place closer to home. When I arrived I was greeted warmly by Alexa who quickly set me up with stylist Amanda was was super professional and amazing. She went over the color options and got me started right away even as she was balancing other customers. For my haircut and hair dye, I was also assisted by Sierra (super patient and friendly as well) and Gina. Everyone was very attentive and worked in a great team environment. The icing on the cake was the massage chair which was unexpected but definitely welcomed. Thank you to the team at Yaffa for a great first (certainly not last) visit!!! read more

I cannot recommend Gina enough! I always go in the salon wanting something different, sometimes I go in not knowing what I want, but Gina somehow always creates the haircut/color I wanted. I also don't have a lot of hair to work with, so many mainstream haircuts kinda fall flat on me. Yet the layers Gina gives me add more volume than I ever thought possible. Highly recommend her! All of the women there are nice and professional and highly supportive of each other. They always make me feel welcomed :) been going here for 3 years now going strong. read more

I've gone to Yaffa's salon three times, and each experience was better than the last! The staff are all so sweet, kind, patient, and always give such helpful advice if you have any questions about your hair. Amanda did a chocolate brown balayage on me last weekend, and she did such an amazing job! Emily washed and treated my hair, and Anna cut it. Amanda is the lady for balayage. I was soo skeptical in doing balayage because of my previous bad experience. I just went to Amanda with nervousness and showed her pictures I wanted my hair to. I haven't colored my hair in six years because I had a bad experience with another salon after reading such great reviews about the salon on Instagram I decided that Yaffa is the only place that would feel right for me to do my hair . She did exactly what I asked for and my hair is still very healthy, I have no breakage and no hair falling out. I love that she uses gold well which is known to be a very expensive and top-notch German color company. Highly recommend her... not to mention that she's also very personable and very sweet and easy to talk to which is so important in customer service read more

I went to Yaffa salon with virgin hair and was so nervous to color it. I loved the color I got but it wasn't 100% what I had in mind so I got in touch with the salon and they got me back in within the week and helped me get to the color I pictured. I really love coming here, everyone is very attentive and professional. I have gotten awesome haircuts from Yaffa and Amanda, and stunning color from Amanda. As such, I knew there would be some challenges with the height of the table etc. When I arrived, the receptionist greeted me warmly and gave me updates as the aesthetician I was seeing (Koko) was running a tad late with her previous appointment . Koko was very warm. She tried to work with my needs even though the details I put in online didn't show up for them. She explained the room was cold but she'd get me in and out and that's exactly what she did. Because of my temporary disability and my inability to turn on my back, lift my legs etc...a Brazilian wasn't possible so we did a full bikini. The wax/ removal was painful because my routine was off laying in a hospital/ rehab for 3 months.There are packages available at economical prices so that you can get into a great hair removal routine and products you can buy to target specific areas to support you in that. Overall, I'm really happy that this service is in Jamaica and that the workers are so incredibly professional and conduct business the way they do- communicating well about the service and handling customers with care and empathy. It's unfortunate because the staff and atmosphere are great, but they really need to improve their hygiene practices.

It was 16 degrees and I had a toddler with me. No greeting walking in, was told to "sit down" 2x (the second time demanded to aggressively) to which I had to respond in Hindi finally assertively- to correct her tone a bit. Walked out. Good riddance. Learn to speak TO people, not AT them- whether they are Bengali or not. A paying customer is a paying customer and this salon lost out on $100+ of services and at least a quarter of prices in tip all for their tone and mannerism. Sad. This was the late afternoon of 1/20/25.. whoever management is, I strongly suggest you train the worker better. Unprofessional is an understatement.

By the 3rd session of my Brazilian, hair growth is insignificant - there is barely any and very thin. The reason why I'm giving this salon 4 stars is because the lady who did my pedicure yesterday was so aggressive, didn't know how to use the tools & cut my big toe. That's usually my fear at salons & when it happens, I'm weary about getting pedicures. Nevertheless, my pedicure was decent besides bleeding & my french dip powder mani looks fabulous. Thanks ladies! By the way, Bertha can wax some eyebrows without destroying your shape!

I can't say enough about my recent keratin treatment at Yaffa's salon, all thanks to the incredible work of Ana, my new keratin specialist! My hair has always been a challenge - coarse, dry, frizzy, and color-treated to cover grays, making it notoriously difficult to manage. But after my appointment with Ana, that's all changed. I'll be posting photos- pre-keratin, one hour post-treatment, and two weeks post - so you can see the difference for yourself. Ana is truly amazing. She's a perfectionist who genuinely cares about her work and how you look when you leave her chair. I've had keratin treatments before, but this one is different. It's called Inova and it's formaldehyde-free. My hair is now soft, smooth, shiny, and most importantly, manageable. It's a true transformation. I'm so grateful to both Ana for her exceptional skill and to Yaffa, the salon owner, for her recommendations and for creating such a wonderful place! Time will tell how long these fantastic results last, but I'm committed to doing my part to prolong them. I know it's important to use sulfate-free products and limit intense heat. If you're looking for a hair transformation, especially, if you have challenging hair like mine, I wholeheartedly recommend Ana for your keratin treatment. She truly makes hair shine! read more

Yaffa has been doing my hair for the better part of 12 years. NO ONE will ever give you a haircut like she can. No matter what way I wear my hair it just falls perfectly. She will take her time to consult with you on your likes and dislikes when it comes to color. She will be honest with you if she feels like it won't work for you or if you won't like it because she takes the time to know her clients. She cares about her craft and the happiness of her clients. Reviews call the salon experience high end and it is, but it is also important to note that it is warm. You will be greeted with a smile and a hug as soon as you walk through the door. My favorite experience with Yaffa was my wedding day. She handpicked my extensions and traveled to New Jersey for my destination wedding. Yaffa was almost an hour early because she was so excited and wanted to make sure she created a fun environment for me getting ready. Everyone loved her, not just her work, HER. I woke up this morning and knew I had to get a new look ASAP. I recently heard about Jaffa Salon from my friend Andrea. She said did you know Jaffa when she worked at Christies? I was excited this was her salon and called this morning. There was an appointment available and off I went. Yaffa Salon is a beautiful, sparlkling and comfortable shop. I felt comfortable immediately I was so thrilled to see Yaffa and honored to have her do my hair. So, even after 10 years Yaffa remembered the 2 rules I have when doing my hair 1.Must be able to put up in ponytail and 2. No Queer girl bangs (please do not take offense). There's a reason why I will drive all the way from Ulster County to Yaffa's--my hair has never looked better. Service is exceptional as well as the ambiance. Products used are of the highest quality. I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. Have been a loyal customer for a decade. The salon is always impeccable when it comes to cleanliness and safety protocols. Chairs are very comfortable and love the massage chair when my hair is getting washed. Thanks to Amanda, Ana, and Gina for making me, my mom, and daughter look amazing on our self-care Sunday! Yaffa's salon is my new go to for everything hair! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. I got a balayage for the first time and was initially worried about the damage but they have specialists who guide and reassure you with aftercare. It's such a bright and positive environment where everyone is friendly and respectful especially during this time. The receptionist even offered to walk a customer's dog while she waited! love that. Very welcoming -- they fit me in within the hour of calling to check availability for a haircut. Dani was great with the shampoo and super hospitable. There was a bit of a wait before the haircut, but the staff was attentive, offering water and getting me prepped for the stylist. Angela is a powerhouse -- nonstop, moving from one chair to the next with incredible energy. She wrapped up one cut and jumped right into the next, very impressive. Yaffa salon by far beats every hair/spa salon in NY! The minute you walk in, you'll be flushed with positive energy and smiles. Your in good hands with anyone there, all staff members are incredibly sweet and will always make you feel 100% comfortable. Today I got a hair cut with Yaffa, facial with Roula, and blow out with Anna. My hair came out soo beautiful, Yaffa and Anna are magic! And the facial was the cherry on top!! I got my hair transformed by the amazing Amanda! I had virgin dark ashy brown hair, and turned into a silvery/platinum blonde. It took the whole day (7-8 hours) and the experience was superb. They served me coffee in the morning, hot chocolate and treats in the evening. They're washing area had massage chairs as their seats and a tv so you can enjoy a nice head massage while getting your hair washed. I can't say enough great things about Yaffa Salon! From the moment I walked in to the time I left the door I felt so safe, taken care of, and appreciative for everything their staff does to ensure their clients leave happy and satisfied. I got a cut and balayage for the first time in months. I LOVE it!!! When I walked in, my temperature was taken, given sanitizer and then brought to a chair. Every time I come to Yaffa's I am welcomed by the nicest and knowledgeable staff. Amanda has been my go to for blow outs because my hair is fine and doesn't want to do much, but she works her magic and I leave with voluminous, bouncy curls that last me days. They're always so busy, so I usually get passed around to different people for different things, but each one has helpful tips to share and are so genuinely friendly. Yaffa's Salon is a great neighborhood place that never disappoints. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and the decor is attractive. From the extra comfortable massaging chairs to relax in while getting your hair washed, to the hair products used at the salon, it is an A+ experience. Yaffa is masterful at cutting, coloring, highlighting and balayage. No wonder she has such a loyal following. It's always a pleasure coming in to this salon. I went in for a haircut with a specific look in mind and Amanda brought it to life! I also had a blowout, in which Tony did wonders on. I told them the concerns I have with my hair and they were more than glad to educate me on how I should take care of my hair at home. Yaffa has been my stylist for over a decade. I have lived in many different states (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio) and I will only allow her to cut my hair. Her work is precise, her blowouts are BOMB, and she is sincerely such a wonderful woman.
