    J&E Contracting - After!

    J&E Contracting

I contacted J&E contracting because I had a leak and due to no plumbers being available for weeks…read more It ruined part of the ceiling and the plumber had to cut out the sheet rock. I first called and spoke with Javier who asked me to text him pics etc. he got back to me the same day. I sent him pictures of what needed to be done and he was very detailed about the questions asked me. This told me he was very serious about taking this job because I reached out to another company (Alcaraz) and sent them all the same info and they ghosted me but, I'm glad they did. Anyway, once we set the date and time he was super communicative, the whole time. He showed up on time with all of his materials ready to work. Once the hole was covered he even went to Home Depot to get the exact color paint for my ceiling. I felt very comfortable with Javier who was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I feel I received a fair price for the work that was done. He definitely went above and beyond and I can't even tell where that hole was before, he did a great job and cleaned up nicely afterwards. I'd most definitely hire him for any work I need in the future.

He diagnosed the problem as a small leak in the roof and went about fixing that, testing it to make sure the leak didn't reoccur and then he did a beautiful job, patching sanding and painting the ceiling such that I cannot even tell where the repair occurred. I would highly recommend him as he was more than easy to work with, very communicative, and very fair on his pricing. An important consideration for me was that he was able to do this within a timeframe of three days prior to my next guest arriving. I am so appreciative to Javier for all his excellent work. Thank you!

I'm not usually someone who leaves reviews, but in this case, I feel it is absolutely necessary…read more I found this company online and, unfortunately, hiring them was one of the worst decisions I could have made for my kitchen renovation. At first, they were very friendly. They came to my condo, gave me an estimate, and I accepted the price to change my kitchen cabinets from white to black. Before hiring them, I specifically asked what type of paint they would use and what preparation process they would follow. One of my main requirements was that they properly protect absolutely everything in my condo because I am renovating the entire place, and I did not want anything I had already completed to be damaged. I also asked how they would prepare the cabinets to make sure the finish would look professional. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I did NOT want my cabinets painted with a roller. I wanted them sprayed in order to achieve a smooth, professional finish. The first problem was that I was told the project would take approximately one to three days because my kitchen is small. Instead, they ended up working on it for about a week. I have cameras inside my condo, so I was able to observe part of the process, and I have evidence of how the work was performed. Unfortunately, they used rollers on areas where I had specifically requested that spray painting be used. Another major issue was the way they handled my cabinet drawers. It appeared that they did not properly keep track of which drawer belonged in which location. As a result, some of the drawers were scratched, damaged, and one of them was even broken. These cabinets and drawers were in good condition before this project started, and I will be posting photos so people can see the results for themselves. On the final day, when I saw the result, I was honestly devastated. The work looked extremely bad, and I felt like my kitchen had been ruined. I immediately sent pictures to the owner showing how everything had been left. He told me not to worry and assured me that they would return the following day to correct everything and make it right. They did come back, but unfortunately, the final result was still extremely poor. There are areas with excessive layers of paint, other areas that are barely painted at all, paint drips in multiple places, visible fingerprints in other areas, scratches, damaged drawers, and an overall inconsistent and unprofessional finish. After seeing the final result and realizing how badly my kitchen had been left, I simply said, "Thank you," sent them the remaining balance that I owed, and after that I never heard from them again. I am not writing this review because I am looking for anything from this company. I already paid them. I am writing it because I genuinely do not want someone else to go through the same experience I did. Since then, I have had three different people come to my home to give me estimates to repair the kitchen. All three of them, independently, asked me who painted my cabinets because they could immediately see how poorly the job had been done. I have been told that fixing it will cost approximately twice what a normal cabinet painting job would cost because they now have to sand and strip down much of the wood and remove the existing paint before they can properly prepare and repaint the cabinets. At this point, my kitchen is honestly in worse condition than it was before I hired this company. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing to spend money trying to improve your home and end up having to spend even more money just to repair the damage from the original job. There are paint drips in many areas, fingerprints in others, uneven coverage, excessive paint in some places and not enough in others. The finish looks terrible, and the entire experience has been incredibly frustrating. I have photos and videos documenting the condition in which my cabinets and drawers were left, as well as part of the work process. I will be including photos with this review so people can see the results for themselves. I sincerely hope this review helps someone else make a more informed decision. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this company. I trusted them to renovate my kitchen, and now I am left with damaged cabinets and drawers, a kitchen that looks worse than before, and repair estimates that are approximately double because another company now has to undo and correct the work that was done.
