For years, this has been my go to place for good shoes to work in and will last much longer than the Sketchers that is so popular.(I have wore out some). Not the cheapest place unless you hit one of their sales. Service is always spot on and helpful. I knew I might find what I have been needing for a while so I ran in here with about 15 minutes since I had an eye appointment close. I did find the perfect pair of shoes. read more

Yaeger's Shoes is a part of Monroe's history. They have been here for over 100 years. They used to be located downtown, but moved years back and are now in the strip mall on Telegraph next to Milkins Jewelers, another high-end shop in this strip mall. It is clean and well-stocked, but the thing that sets it apart for me is the service. It astounds me the way the manager always remembers every customer's name and when and what pair of shoes they bought. I used to do lots of door-to-door sales and my dress shoes would get beat up and kill my feet. When I finally got sick of destroying garbage shoes, I came here. I explained my situation and the manager found a pair of leather dress shoes for me. I may have spent $100 on these shoes, but I have saved money and my feet in the long run. read more

I take care of people with special needs for a living, and have brought my clients to Yaeger's previously to shop for shoes. I agree with other reviewers that the store is clean and well organized, and the manager is great. However, I recently brought one of my clients to the store and had a negative experience. My client and I were blatantly ignored by the sales staff and I had to flag down a sales associate to help us. The woman who waited on us was an older woman who clearly didn't want us there. She brought out shoes for my client to try on, but his feet were too small for the smallest men's shoes, so I asked if they had anything similar in boy's sizes. The sales lady told us that Yaeger's doesn't carry boy's shoes. (That's another beef I have with Yaeger's - what kind of shoe store carries men's, women's and girl's shoes, but nothing for boys? That doesn't make sense, but I digress.) So anyway, she kept discouraging us from buying shoes at their store, and kept telling us to go elsewhere for shoes. My client really wanted a certain shoe he tried on, but again the sales lady was very discouraging, saying that his size would have to be ordered, and she really made a point of making it sound like it would be a hassle to special order his shoes. And again, she continued to encourage us to take our business elsewhere. I asked her to please special order my client's size in the shoes he wanted, and she begrudgingly took down my name and number and said that she'd order his shoes later, and that she'd call me when his shoes were in. Weeks went by, and I didn't hear from Yaeger's at all. When I called the store to inquire about my client's shoes, there was no record of the order I requested and nobody had my contact information. I don't wish to drag Yaeger's through the dirt just because of one bad employee. But I felt that the woman who waited on us was discriminating against my client just because he is elderly and has special needs. I have had positive experiences with Yaeger's in the past, but this time I was very disappointed. read more

Clean, well-stocked store that specializes in better quality walking shoes. They have Red Wings, Mephisto, Merrill's, SAS, etc. The manager is thoughtful and attentive and will listen carefully for the best option for your needs. Saturday hours are 10-4 and closed on Sundays. read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE. I had foot surgery in October and my doctor was sending to another store in Ann Arbor. I thought I should shop local and I am glad I did. The salesman was very helpful and fitted my foot perfectly. read more
