Meadow Lea Farm Coffee Shop - This local farm added a café about six months ago I heard.

I was asked if I ever had a proper English breakfast so we came to this relatively new café that's…read moresix months old. I was introduced to Black Pudding, an acquired taste for even the English- pigs blood and intestines mashed into a hockey puck. I have nothing to compare it to but a taste of it was good for me. It was crispy, soft like pudding and a bit sweet. I opted for the tuna panini which was terrific. I read it came with chips which I figured were fries but got actual potato chips which was fine I guess. Michael said his All Day Breakfast was spot on except for the sausage which he described as cheap or watery. The other lads said there's were fine and devoured it spite being hung over. Before breakfast I asked to walk past the gates to witness the sprawling fields. I was welcomed with a bit of apprehension and took a few photos as you may see. Apparently no one asks to go back into the farm. I breathed in the cool air and appreciated the beauty of the English horizon. I was met by the owner, Bill Williams, in a tractor who stopped me to have a bit of a chat. He is a funny man when he said the view was "alright" and there wasn't much to see. I learned the farm was 400 acres and how he had a kick travelling the California coast line several years ago. When I return to Chester I will be sure to come back and eat here and say hello.

The best English Breakfast in the UK…read more In fact it won the Mirror Best Cafe in Britain award in 2006. This isnt just any old Truckers Cafe it also attracts Familys and local's for a good selection of hearty home cooked, great british Grub. Not only are the breakfasts well worth a try (be warned they are belly busters!) they also do a Fantastic Roast Dinner, which also comes with Chips if your extra hungry! It's all homemade, nothing out of the packet, the Gravy is like your mum makes and the Chips are good old fashioned cut potatoes and not frozen. The Decor isnt fancy or anything to shout home about, but with food as good as this it doesnt need to be its just big bulky tables and an assortment of odd chairs but it works! For Truckers its ideal, they have Shower facilities on site and a Huge Car Park and right next to a petrol station so you have everything you need for an overnight stay. Try it, you wont be dissapointed. Such great Value and Mega Size portions that'll make you want to go back every time you pass!

On the menu is everything from all day breakfasts to full roast dinners, of which there is a different one each day. There are usually two or three other mains and several old fashioned puddings. We have a toasted sandwich each time we visit, delicious and fast. The only down-side is their coffee. It is obviously instant and possibly poor quality but the food is fantastic.

Interior is a bit shabby chic and very cozy. The servers were all very pleasant Welsh ladies that helped answer some questions I had about the menu. I had a mug of tea and a Buck rarebit toast. The toast came with a small side salad and a poached egg. It was just perfect. I've never had rarebit before, but if this is the norm, I would love to have it again. There are a bunch of other items on the menu that would be perfect for breakfast or a light lunch as well. I left extremely pleased with my meal. Oh, and the best part was, prices were extremely fair. For about 6GBP, I left feeling I could easily conquer the climbing of every tower in Caernarfon Castle.

We would attend again based solely on the staff. Coffee was great as well. Unfortunately we both got the ham and cheese toasted sandwich so our review isn't based on much. The prices are average for the uk. One coffee one order or chips one order of mushrooms and two toasted ham and cheese came to £15.xx. Sides were very generous as well. Worth the visit.

We were led to a cushy table and provided with several menus, specials consisting of catch of the day and a main with various dishes from seafood, steaks and pasta dishes. For starters we both had scallops with bacon and black pudding with pea puree. A personal favourite of mine.. think these were around the £12 mark, not the cheapest starter but was well presented and each of the three Scallops was perfectly cooked, perfectly cripsy bacon and the ingredients tasted fresh. For mains I fancied the pork belly pork stir fry and my mum the mushroom tagliatelle. Both portions were very generous and the crackling on my pork was perfection. The mange tout , peppers and onions were all a lovely consistency with tasty sauce and soft yoked egg perched on top. My mums dish looked wholesome but for a tad pricy for mushrooms and pasta. With our bellies full we left with a pumpkin latter to walk around the coast. Overall food was fabulous quality, served piping hit but just a tad expensive for what it was however I guess you are paying for the location. Staff were pleasant enough but not once were we asked how the food was , luckily there were no issues.
