Bob & Ed's was on a maintenance contract for two years for our home HVAC equipment. After the…read morerecent furnace inspection, their technician advised that our furnace might not make it through the winter because the heat exchanger was about to fail, so I had the furnace replaced. When the old furnace was removed, it was discovered the evaporator coils on the old furnace were completely stopped up (see photo). They were supposed to be inspected and cleaned so the equipment would operate efficiently, per the maintenance contract. Bob & Ed's acknowledged they messed up and refunded my money for the current year's contract. The technician from the company that installed the new furnace said the clogged coils contributed to the shortened life of the old furnace. Bob & Ed's disputed that. Lesson learned: Just because a Bob & Ed's technician tells you he's done the work, that's not necessarily so.

He's got the "can you believe we get to do this? !" excitement about his work. He genuinely loves what he does, and it makes even the hard jobs feel simple. He has now done 3 jobs for me. First time was to fix a mini split install that another well reviewed HVAC company had installed. The system kept throwing communication errors and turned out the previous tech had wired the communication wires wrong inside our level 5 drywall. The wires had actually fried / burned out inside the wall, which could've started a fire. Matt cut into the wall and repaired the communication wiring, and while he was there, he brazed and sealed the copper refrigerant lines so there's zero chance of a leak down the road. The system has run great ever since. Second job was a brand new mini split, cassette style on the ceiling, with a long line set up to a roof compressor on our ADU. Every joint was brazed clean and the refrigerant lines are sealed tight. Looks as good as it runs. Most recently he fixed a communication issue on our Lennox dual damper system. The two thermostats had stopped talking to each other, and Matt traced the whole thing down, tested voltage, and found the fix. Replacing the main thermostat ended up being less expensive than the other repair options on the table, so that's the route we took, and he charged us accordingly. This guy knows what he's doing, prices are honest , and he treats every job like it's the most interesting thing he's done all week. We'll keep calling him.

Another company replaced the start capacitor at the motor outside on the compressor. That helped but didn't solve the problem. As it turned out the electric motor was bad and it failed to start. The inside fan blew air but it wasn't cold. Long story nauseating after a very quick house call to diagnose the problem an electric motor was ordered and installed the next day. Fantastic service start to finish. They only charged me for the one service call. I thought that was very generous after all they made two trips. I can not recommend these guys more highly. Chad arrived before 3pm and within about 20 minutes had the problem assessed and a plan of action to resolve. He contacted the office to send a 2nd technician and within about 20-25 minutes Max arrived. Call these guys. Right now…read more Seriously, I can't recommend their service enough - they're partners with Entergy in the area, who right now have Energy Efficiency Incentives programs. We had an Energy Audit, a new Digital Thermostat installed, got brand-new blown-in attic insulation, minor service of our furnace, and a thorough sealing of every inch of duct work and basic leak they were able to find. And we didn't pay a dime, it was all covered through Entergy's program. What's more, the crew (led by Tyler) was a team of three who were the nicest and most professional crew I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I've been lucky to have quite a few more good experiences with Contractors than bad, and this experience stands head-and-shoulders above the best I've had before. The above is especially impressive because I slept through our initial appointment time (I was knocked out on Nyquil after being ferociously sick the day before) and when the crew showed up promptly at 8:00 am, I didn't wake up to let them in. Also, they had my wife's number, and she was out of town, so despite the fact that the crew called her three times, and their office called once, it didn't reach me in time. I finally did call them back almost an hour later, and they had already gotten back to their shop. But, after my call, they turned right around and came back. Not a single complaint, not the slightest hint of bitterness or impatience. They were absolute angels and came back promptly, performed all the work even better than promised, and were done well before they'd estimated even with the late start! This, even including a sudden wind storm and a brief rain storm in the middle of their work. It doesn't get any better than this :)
