Lovely people and great bikes. Further away from us than Mad Dogs and Englishmen so we've only been a few times but they're great.

Tam Bikes is one of those rare shops that turns a purchase into a long-term relationship. We bought…read moretwo EMTBs from them, and somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like we were just customers and started feeling like we had a go-to crew for anything bike related. That kind of loyalty is earned, and they earned it fast. From the beginning, the level of service stood out. They took the time to really walk us through options, made sure the bikes actually fit how and where we ride, and never once made it feel rushed or transactional. Even after the purchase, they have been just as dialed in. Questions, adjustments, tune-ups, it is all handled with the same level of care and attention. Honestly, they have set the standard for what a bike shop should feel like. The bikes are incredible, but it is the people that make the difference. We ride more because of them, we trust their recommendations, and we know we are taken care of every time we walk in. Customers for life is not something we say lightly, but here it just fits.

I am an experienced road and mountain cyclist but didn't know much about how to think about choosing an e-bike for me. i just turned 76 and had been experimenting renting e-mountain bikes from Tam. Hella fun but a bit too heavy for me. they recommended I try a specialized Vado sl, and loved it. Half the weight of the mountain bike and can easily ride it around town and even lift it on my bike rack. Really appreciated their patience with and love the bike I ended up with. 5 stars all around! I will continue to rent the Specialized e-mountain bike from them. not willing to give it up yet!!!

That was my experience last night at Sports Basement. I was there for an in-store event (so much fun!) and decided to sneak away from the party for a few minutes to finally research a backpack I've been needing -- one strong and comfortable enough to serve as my Wildfire Go-Bag. Every employee I spoke with was helpful and upbeat. Paul, in the backpack section, was exceptional. He listened carefully to what I needed, explained the differences between models, and taught me how to fit a pack properly so it wouldn't strain my back. Within 20 minutes! After trying the first, I was astonished how comfortable the second was: the Osprey Aura AG LT 50. It's a mid-range pack that fit my body better than the Osprey Renn 50. It feels supportive, and the deep burgundy color is stunning. It's even adjustable, so if for some reason someone else needs to carry my bag, it can be adapted to protect their back, too. Thanks to the event's 20% discount, I was able to get the ideal match for my needs at the price of a lower-range model that didn't fit me as well. Paul also suggested a couple of brilliant extras--like the portable Cleanwaste toilet kit and the Katadyn BeFree water filter. For my wildfire go-bag, they're exactly the kinds of things that will make a difference. I appreciated how thoughtful and practical his recommendations were. It's rare to leave a store feeling both educated and excited about a purchase -- but that's exactly how I felt. Huge thanks to the team at Sports Basement for being so kind, informed, and genuinely invested in helping people prepare for real-life adventures (and emergencies) with confidence.
