Her staff is excellent as well. Anyone could have a disagreement with a provider over a topic like a vaccine, I think many medical personnel get frustrated about this topic. Read on and you'll see why I felt compelled to tell about my experience. My beloved ob/gyn of many decades retired so I asked for a NextDoor referral. First of all, I know mistakes can happen, but when I was told to create a patient portal account and sent the info, I was given someone else's name. I won't elaborate but it turned into a bit of an ordeal. At the office, the staff was nice, the nurse who talked to me before meeting the doctor was very sweet. Then came the pre-exam chat in her office. I know the difference between being direct and being rude. IMO, she has a rude and condescending bedside manner. I appreciated her telling me that I'd been given bad medical advice in the past. I believe she's probably a knowledgeable and competent doctor. But here's where I had a major issue with her. She asked if I'd taken the covid vaccine. I believe it's something for each of us to decide for ourselves, and I have my reasons to not take it. I said no and she asked why not. I said that I'd prefer to not talk about it (that's NOT why I was there!) She is obviously a fan of the vaccine, and that's ok. What's not ok is that she lectured me in a condescending and belittling way, then said (quoting here) "well I think you're foolish to not get it". That's just another way of saying You're Stupid. VERY unprofessional. She made it personal instead of medical. I would've left but I'd already jumped through hoops to be there, and it had taken me 2 years to get up the nerve to even make an appointment, and I was finally taking steps to address a couple of health issues. So I wanted to get the exam over with and just leave. I felt about an inch tall after the way she spoke to me, and THEN giving me the exam. Ladies, you know what I mean right?? THE EXAM Ok, whether you agree or disagree with my vaccine opinion, and I know plenty of people on both sides of that debate and I respect them ALL, can you see why I was pretty unhappy with this doctor? People make mistakes and can apologize and strive to do better. However, I've been under Dr Korenman's care for 15 years and he is worth every out-of-pocket dollar spent. He is a WONDERFUL doctor. He is extremely knowledgeable and up to date on the latest medications. He spends time listening and talking to you at each appointment. I never feel rushed. He cares about his patients and is patient, encouraging, and always available should a crisis arise. It took years to get me stable, and we have to continually tweak my medications, but I am stable now because of his care. My mental health is expensive, yes. And I wish insurance plans would cover private care. But I'll gladly pay what it takes to have the quality care I receive from Dr. Korenman. He is worth it. My mental health is worth it also.
