I have had my fair share of "tourist traps" in the past and understand that occasionally it seems subpar food is served because it's marketed as "traditional" or a "must-try" in the area. In this case, however, I felt simply embarrassed to have been served this "food" and feel bad for the staff that knowingly serve these items to the visitors of Stavanger. My friends and I ordered a few items from the "traditional Norwegian" menu, including the meatballs. The entire country of Norway should be upset that it is called "Norwegian" as it is seemingly a fraud and insult to such a wonderful country. The meatballs themselves look as though they've been processed at least three times; and then, after having sat on a shelf, are heated to slightly above lukewarm for a completely disgusting smell and, I daresay, reprehensible taste. Not only should this restaurant/bar be avoided at all costs, the Norwegian Tourist Board or equivalent agency (and/or government body) should investigate and taste the food themselves to see if this is what is meant to represent Norwegian food to unaware tourists. I love Norway, having traveled there for nearly a month in the summer season - a beautiful place and a friendly, welcoming people. But this is definitely among once of the worst restaurants I've eaten at in Norway or even Europe! read more
