The salad didn't come with the traditional carrot ginger dressing I was expecting, so they gave us Yum Yum sauce instead, which I personally cannot stand. The steak was overcooked and very chewy. The shrimp was actually pretty tasty, and the rice was just okay. Service was alright, nothing to really note. This is such a cute place with all the anime but it's also very cleans and well staffed. The fish was very fresh and the sashimi pieces are quite large. The rolls are huge! We had the Ballwing and Kiss of Fire (?) special rolls as well as the yellow tail jalepeno and spicy tuna. Everything was delicious and came out quickly even on a very busy Saturday. "I'll have what she's having!" Our waitress recommended this dish and I'm so glad I was adventurous and tried something different outside of my "I'll judge you based off of your Pad Thai" attitude. It was perfect and when I say perfect, I didn't even add lime juice to it because I didn't want to mess anything up with the flavor profile. Sure, lime could have added another element to the dish but when I say it was perfect the way it was, it's true. The night at Smiley would have ended perfectly if it weren't for the miserable couple who sat beside us discussing how unhappy they were in their marriage and decided to accept the waitstaff into their broken marriage by being completely rude.
