I came in while pregnant with worsening symptoms, and instead of feeling heard or cared for, I was told there was "nothing" he could do and that I should basically tough it out. He barely examined me--placed the stethoscope on my back for a second or two, didn't check anything thoroughly, and made it clear he wanted to move on. Pregnant women are higher risk when sick, so a real exam should be the bare minimum. They also refused to let my husband come into the room, even after saying they would bring him back. I strongly doubt I would have been spoken to the same way if my husband were present or if he were the patient. The dismissiveness felt gendered and unprofessional. I did receive an inhaler and a flu test, but the overall experience left me feeling unheard, rushed, and frankly disrespected--as both a patient and a paying customer. I truly hope my symptoms do not worsen, but the lack of care today was disappointing and unacceptable.

We see many patients travelling internationally, having a dental emergency while on vacation. While I understand the value of having a third party contact offices on your behalf to schedule an appt, there is also high value in patients & providers' offices speaking directly to ensure patients know what to expect when they arrive for appointments. We have seen far too many Doctors Now patients who arrive under the impression that their "insurance" will cover the full cost of their visit, only to find their plan will cover a maximum of $500 for their visit (regardless of whether we've simply done some diagnostics or we've spend hours repairing damage after taking a ski to the face). When we speak to patients directly, we can inform of them costs & our office policies and patients leave HAPPY. When we have allowed Doctors Now to liaise between our office and patients, more often than not, patients were UNpleasantly surprised by Doctors Now dental coverage AND wound up waiting for longer during their appointment while our office scrambles to get real time approval & payment from Doctors Now, in order to move forward with the treatment that will get them out of pain. Any other insurer allows patients to receive treatment and submit an invoice after the fact for reimbursement. I can't imagine why the notion for patients speaking directly to providers regarding appointments is something Doctors Now discourages, unless there is something to hide.
