This is a bit of a local haunt of mine these days. Best sweet iced coffees this neck of the woods…read more They also make a mean sandwich. My only complaint used to be that they didn't open on a Saturday morning but I've heard that's recently changed and I look forward to giving breakfast a red hot go there. Lunch menu is pretty extensive. They serve classic cafe options. Sandwiches, toasties, wraps, fries, soups etc. They have a pretty extensive range of sweets as well. They usually have some kind of drink special on the board behind the counter. Like strawberry lemonade or sweet berry iced teas which I think is nice change from just your usual soft drink/juice/flavoured water you pick from the fridge. Stops me from getting a Tiro every time. The staff are quite friendly and the service is usually very fast. You don't have to wait long for your coffee or meals. You have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating and it is very open. It's a good space for families. Parking can be difficult as it is street only and there's a fair bit of construction around there at the moment. But it's free parking so you win some, you lose some. It's a great place to swing through for a quick take away coffee and sandwich. If you eat in the meals are alright, not the single greatest thing you'll ever eat. Expect your standard cafe fare and you shouldn't really walk away too disappointed.

I've become a big fan of American style food over the last year since visiting the States, so I…read moreguess I consider myself a tiny bit of a snob when it comes to "authentic" taste of certain things. I could tell my husband was keen to eat here as we passed by, admiring the fit-out of the new restaurant. It sounded good in theory but I was sure I would be underwhelmed (especially since a previous Yelper only rated 2 stars). But I gave in and we were seated amongst the peanut shells. The atmosphere was pretty good and the staff were friendly and efficient. We both ordered a lunch special (we'll leave the all you can eat ribs for another time - I'm also a rib snob)! We were both satisfied with our meals (flavour and size), especially for the price. We were both a bit surprised that they didn't serve root beer though - can't get more American than that! We also found it a bit strange that despite having a special section of the drinks menu dedicated to American style sodas (which we ordered from) these sodas were in fact our very own Bundaberg soft drinks! Also, I kinda expected a few more American beers to choose from. All in all for our first dining experience here, I give 4 stars :)

This is a franchise which has been around a while, famous for its peanut shell floors. Lone Star, I very nearly gave you a "lone star" as this was an extremely disappointing experience. This may be due to the fact that it is all new, the staff are new and there is still a long way to go, so I gave you one more star than the experience deserved as encouragement to improve. We waited a while after being seated before deciding to approach the bar ourselves to order drinks, and it was only then that we were acknowledged and then someone was sent to our table to take our order. We did feel sorry for the staff who seemed inexperienced and "under the pump" even though there didn't seem to be too many patrons. What didn't help was the perception that the staff at the "concierge" desk where chatting and not aware that customers were going unattended. After the lenghty wait at the beginning and perceptions of uncaring customer service, I decided there were two ways that Lone Star could redeem the experience. 1. Swift food delivery 2. Great food! Well they met the swift food delivery condition, which also helps to earn the extra star but unfortunately the burger I ordered, "The Cowepoke Cheeseburger" was lacking in any appealing flavour. What a shame! I was soooo wanting to love this place, and sooooo wanted to be sharing a much better experience. The customer service felt scripted and "forced", which is probably more due to the lack of experience of wait staff more than anything else. Heaps of room for growth and improvement. I hope the franchise owners find the feedback valuable and a see it as a benchmark for improvement.

This is a great place hidden away in the new GE building up behind Orion. We went for brunch and I…read moredidn't take a good look at the menu as I saw some beautiful looking scones on display up on the counter, so had set my heart on having a Devonshire Tea. I ordered scones, jam and cream and a pot of tea. The scones came out looking absolutely scrumptious and they did taste good too, but I found the amount of jam and cream inadequate. They were happy to give me extra when I asked, but I still found I ran short. I was surprised that I received the scones a few minutes before my pot of tea, as they would normally be served together. My tea was way too strong and bitter, so I suspect that the pot had sat a brewed for a while before it was brought to the table. I didn't request a replacement, so shouldn't complain too much about that. The venue is nice, plenty of tables and a little corner set aside for toddlers. The displays look great and the staff were all pleasant and courteous. I can't give it 4 stars today because of the tea and lack of jam and cream, but I'll certainly go again and I'm sure I will have better luck next time. Actually, maybe it was that the scones were just too large for that amount of jam and cream....

Food seem to be leavig the kitchen at a good pace and all the tables around us were receiving their meals. It has been over an hour now & no one has check our table or our order. So we decided to ask a waitress about the wait. She ask what we ordered blankly, went to kitchen and checked. A different staff member then came over, maybe the supervisor on duty. No apologies or explanations, just ask us what we ordered, with pen and pad ready. I then asked him was the order never placed? He reply there's nothing there and didn't really seemed he cared. We probably would of stayed if the staff were more apologetic or show some sign of customer service. After over an hour wait ; and the staff poor customer service , we ended up leaving , stomach hungry and unhappy. Won't be visiting again.

If you order this dish please remember it's smoked so it will be pink inside. Entwined that as staff were telling me that many people tell them my chicken is not cooked. (Suggestion: Maybe stating this on the menu will help people with this issue). Service was friendly and this restaurant is part of the accommodation though it is open to the public for all meals. Nothing really stood out for me and it's very quiet and relaxing spot though was a bit hard to find as its tucked away in a corner located among shops and offices set back from the road. Not sure if I'd go back though it was pleasant enough.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we ordered one of the BBQ platters with pork ribs, chicken Maryland, coleslaw and chips to take away. The food was good, although we weren't as blown away by it as we had hoped after reading previous reviews. It could be that our expectations were set too high, or perhaps it was because the food wasn't as fresh and hot by the time we got home. Either way, we still enjoyed it.
