One of the most disappointing event experiences I've ever had. We purchased three general admission tickets for Saturday at the X Games in Salt Lake City, planning our entire day around seeing the Men's Street and Men's Park competitions. What wasn't made clear at all on the website was that access to those events required an upgrade. If that had been obvious, we absolutely would have upgraded. We drove an hour and a half out of our way for this--and when we arrived, we were told we couldn't get into the very events we came to see. Staff on-site weren't able to offer any help, and all upgrades were already sold out. With no other option, we left almost immediately. This was our first time attending the X Games, and honestly, it was devastating. We spent $240 for general admission just to stand in a hot, unshaded parking lot with barely any amenities and overpriced food and drinks. Even worse, we weren't alone--several other people around us were equally frustrated and confused for the exact same reason. Clearly, the lack of transparency affected more than just us. If the website had been clearer about what GA tickets actually included, this all could have been avoided. I've reached out for a refund--because unless this is made right, I won't be returning. Extremely disappointed in how this was handled. read more

Having been a skier and skateboarder my whole life, I have always enjoyed action sports. I grew up in the era when Tony Hawk, Rob Dyrdek, Rodney Mullen, Bob Burnquist, Steve Caballero and Mark Gonzales ruled the sport of skateboarding. I collected Tech Decks and played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on N64. I remember watching Tony Hawk do the first ever 900 on TV in 1999. Today, stars like Nyjah Huston, Letícia Bufoni, Sky Brown, Lizzie Armanto and Yuto Horigome have progressed the sport of skateboarding to what it is today. I bought my first skateboard back in the 80's and still ride a longboard today. ESPN founded the X Games (Extreme Games) 30 years ago to showcase action sports like skateboarding, BMX and motocross. The first event was held in Rhode Island in 1995. The inaugural Winter X Games would take place a couple years later in 1997. The Summer X Games would eventually move to Los Angeles and enjoyed a long 10 year stay there. The games were spread out at multiple venues all over L.A. I was able to attend my first ever X Games in 2013 and saw both Skateboard Vert and Street at the Event Deck at L.A. LIVE and Moto X Racing at the Staples Center. It was so much fun! But sadly, it would also be the last X Games in California for some time. Summer X Games would move around multiple states after that. In 2023, Summer X Games made the decision to move back to California after not being at a live venue for years due to the pandemic. In my opinion, Summer X Games belongs in California. Skateboarding history has deep roots in the Golden State and it should be showcased here. Plus being from Arizona, the drive to Ventura isn't too bad. The event finals are now being held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. I also like that you are able to see all of the events at one venue. I had a blast spending the day watching the best of BMX, skateboarding and motocross competition. It was a hot and long day. Some of the competitions were hard to see and you had to have a VIP pass to get up and close (which wasn't cheap). This was very frustrating for many people including myself. The merch line was crazy long and they sold out of everything. But overall, I am glad that I went and tried to make the best of my time here. I heard X Games is making some changes to future events to address some of these issues. I did appreciate that they handed out free Monsters and that there were decent food options. read more

Theres no where to sit and if you dont have vip passes you see everything on the big tvs. Ill pass this year.

Wow, that was lame. General admission sucks. In hindsight I wish I'd gotten robbed in the parking lot. I would have spent less money, saved time and just gone home. Seriously, don't buy general admission. There should be a warning that general admission you can't see anything. Wait, you can see things, if you run in right when it opens and wait in line for an hour, you can get a seat, for everyone else don't bother. I brought my kids cause my son really likes the BMX jumps. I basically paid over 60 dollars for the privilege of buying 20 dollar beers, 7 dollar churros, and for my kids to ride push bikes, like the bikes they already have. General admission should be GAR. General, A one syllable, R two syllables. Figure it out. read more

GA ticket was a scam! $55 for what?! Couldn't see anything. There was one tiny screen in the whole venue. No information about events. No thought to planning the crowd flow. The skate park was surrounded by scaffolding, so you couldn't see anything. All the "VIP" sections were empty. Total rip off! And $17 for a tall beer. Ridiculous. read more

Unfortunately a general admission ticket did not allow you to have a view to the events we came to watch. No where on the website did I see that you had to purchase special VIP tickets to even get into the skateboard park venue. The events were set up in a way that only VIP could obtain a view to see the events. Very crowded and near impossible to see anything with everyone packed together on a level surface. Not enough seating at the event, unfortunate to see families sitting on the hard ground watching the events take place on a screen. read more

it was awesome to see all of the amazing athletes, and really nice people the only complaint is the seating and viewing of the park; one set of stands for general admin. 2 for super fan. super fan stands were basically empty. really sad for anyone that just want to see the athletes and not spend 200-500 dollars read more

Went and checked out Moto X for the final time in L.A.! I have to say it was fun from start to finish. Staples was a good venue to watch it at. I did skip the $12 beer this time, but there's always next time... Added bonus, we ran into Tony Hawk on the way out.. Too bad he would only sort of take a pic, as he "won't stop walking!" X Games - Moto X! - Skating Rinks Near Me - Ventura, California

I've been a huge fan of the X Games ever since they came to Los Angeles 11 years ago. But while I obsessively watched it on TV for a few years (and later on just watched it online), it never occurred to me to actually go see it in person. Until I realised that this year would be my last chance (possibly) ever since they were moving to Texas for four years and then who-knows-where after that. I've always loved Moto X so I came on Friday August 2nd to see Moto X Step Up and Moto X Speed & Style. I had come previously to Staples Center to see a concert so it was pretty mind-blowing to see how they converted the inside to a dirt track. Apparently it took 60 trucks full of dirt to do that! I was able to snag a pretty great seat (I was in the second row) so I had an amazing view of the entire thing. It was surreal to get to see it in person and breath-taking to see them to stunts right in front of me. X Games also had a fair that they held the entire day (for every day of the events) which was cool to check out. I made sure to come a little over an hour early so I could walk around and see what there was. A lot of booths handed out various freebies and also offered their own photobooth. And there were a couple opportunities to meet one of the competing athletes and get their autograph! So I was able to meet, get an autograph from, and get a picture with the amazing Tanner Foust, who went on to win the first Gold in Gymkhana Grid this year! It was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I got to go. If you are a fan of the X Games, I definitely recommend going to see at least one event in person--it really is completely different from watching it on TV or online. Austin fans, take advantage and go watch them next year! read more

Visited the Staples Center for the Moto-X and had an awesome time! You can get great seats for not that expensive. I'd go back again.

Its a little early in the set up today so it seems a little confusing, but the energy in the air is amped up. The fan zone is a little small and is going to get really crowded this weekend later on. Make sure you check into the x games on Yelp in the booth and get Yelp swag! Also keep your eyes open because athlete's are all over the place, including by the Ritz side entrance. Athletes are also signing autographs in certain booths. Also free ice pops!!! read more

Hubs and I had a great time at this year's X Games. It was our first time. I am glad we got to go since it will be moving to Austin next year. The only things we didn't like (but not enough to lose a star) was that the event venues were far from each other and we could not go back to the paddocks/pits during the rally car races to check out the pits. Global Rally Cross allow fans to visit the pits. I have been to a few races, but maybe it was an X Games policy or the speedway's policy? Again, not enough to lose a star. We got to meet a lot of the athletes. We are going to try to the X Games in Austin next year. read more
