When you walk in the front door you enter a large lobby with a large grand and player piano in it. You are greeted by a full time staff person located at the front entrance. The staff is professional and very friendly. The restaurant is located at the rear of the lobby. It is very eloquent and serves up great looking meals. The residents always look happy and well cared for. The grounds and facility are well maintained and the interior is immaculate. Outside there are flower gardens, gazebo and a walking path. My mother was cared for in a facility like this for many years so I know what to compare to. This one is above the rest in my opinion. If the need every arose in the future for myself, I would be excited to live there as well.

They clean one corridor after another and when all 4 wings are done, they start all over. The staff is wonderful- warm, friendly, caring, skilled, kind and dedicated. Even staff who was not assigned to my brother that day would stop in to say hello or share a joke or talk about sports. Some even stopped by on their days off to check in on my brother. I would say that for many of them, this is not just a job, but a calling. The care they gave was gentle, compassionate, patient, tender, respectful. They work hard to preserve their patients' dignity. My brother knew he was loved, not only by our family, but also by his Wynscape family. I was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone on the staff. They regularly stopped what they were doing to provide help and assistance. The rehab staff is also excellent - encouraging, professional, attentive. The food is very good and the staff went out of their way to make sure my brother ate. The staff not only attended to the needs of my brother but were also very attentive and responsive to our family. From entering the facility to the time one leaves, the warmth and caring provided are evident. If I ever need skilled or long term care, this is the place I would choose. I am so very grateful for the care they rendered to my brother in his last year.

When my dad transferred to Johnson Center skilled nursing after a hospitalization, my mom could walk there from their apartment, under the same roof. Since my dad has been gone, my mom is still participating in activities with friends she has had since 2018. Socialization and continuity have been key for her well-being. She is moving through the grieving process and building a new way of life as a widow amongst her peers, many of whom have had similar life experiences. When my grandmother was in transition, she displayed the following symptoms which included an inability to eat, inability to move, inability to take medication, inability to speak, and inability to open her eyes. She was on her deathbed which was provided by Hospice. Somebody named Donna stated to me "Your grandmother is not in transition, and therefore you are not allowed to spend the night with your grandmother." At 2:20AM that very night, my grandmother passed away. HarborChase does not adhere to what they communicate to their members. This is a place of dishonesty.

I contacted Chris Gerardi with Home Helpers to provide help for my father,…read morewho lives alone in his home but did not feel he needed someone to assist him. The challenge was to find the right caregiver and process of introduction to make my dad feel comfortable that he was not giving up his independence by having a caregiver visit him. Chris took the time necessary to meet with father and discuss the situation with him directly so that my father was part of the decision making process. We were able to ease the transition by starting out with a unit for dad to have to call for help if he could not get to the phone or if he fell and needed emergency assistance, Chris was able to provide this service with a Direct Link unit. After a few weeks Chris specifically recommended a caregiver that he felt would match well with my dad's personality and needs. Kathie was brought in to meet father prior to getting started to make sure he felt good about it. Kathie is exceptional and could not have been a better companion for dad. We started with a few hours a week so dad would not be intimidated by the change. As dad's care needs increased, Chris stayed involved to provide additional assistance, even staying with dad himself sometimes to make sure he was OK. When we realized that it would be best for dad to move to a facility Kathie continued to assist us with much needed support since I do not live close to dad. This was truly a great experience for my dad, who has become attached to Kathie and appreciates her help. For me it has helped to alleviate the stress associated with caring for my dad from a long distance. I highly recommend Home Helpers and Chris Gerardi if your family needs a caregiver; they really are concerned about the quality of life for their client families.
