Does anyone know what happened to the pool this summer?

Unfortunately, when we opened the pool there were unexpected repairs needed. We understand it has taken awhile to repair but are hopeful it will be finished within a week.…

We really like having a 2-car garage, not something you typically get with an apartment. The grounds are kept up very well, and the neighbors have all been very nice. We have 2 dogs and it appears so do most of the residents here, as it's very dog-friendly! The staff who I have dealt with, in particular Yehmien, has been fantastic, friendly, and very helpful, especially when it came to our move-in. I would highly recommend taking a look at this place if you are in the market for a nice apartment in this area, you won't regret it.

I've lived in many apartments in my day (through college, etc) and this is by far the quietest I have ever lived in. I'll occasionally hear the toilet flush on one of our neighbors or the shower going, but otherwise nothing else. Ever. We are only the second tenants to live in our apartment so everything is like brand new yet (which is why the higher rent is justifiable for me). I like the granite throughout, hardwood floors, ceiling fans in most rooms and two car garage is awesome. We have a nice back patio that backs to trees, which again is great. Whenever we've had to put in a maintenance request in, Kenny is here the next day to take care of it. He's awesome to work with and does a great job. Maintenance requests were light bulb out, we nicked the paint and wanted a touch up. I typically email Kena, the office manager and always get a fast and friendly reply from her. Neighbors are nice. We had a perfectly great stay at Uptown. We moved from Chicago and needed an apartment to stay in…read morewhile we house-hunted. Coming from the city I felt the complex was kind of remote, but that meant it was quiet. It's a 10-minute drive from Ford Rd, so not RIGHT near anything, but certainly not in the middle of nowhere. The fledgling businesses nearby are quaint but not entirely useful. The Village theater is great, but productions are sparse. Cold Stone Creamery was nice, and the 502 Grille/bar was ok, though they close early for a bar. The apartment was nice. We never had problems with bugs or neighbors. It was clean and comfortable, though next time I won't choose the third-floor :) The amenities were better than any apartment complex I've ever lived in. Uptown has a great pool, a nice looking gym (that I never used), and they routinely have events at the clubhouse...pizza Fridays happened every couple weeks! There was a St Patty's party and a few other special nights too. And can't forget the fresh-baked choco-chip cookies in the clubhouse...seriously, whenever we went in there, there was a plate of cookies at the ready! There are four other nice things about the location: - adjacent to the complex is a Canton historical house where they stage a Summer Sundays farmers market. So every Sunday you can walk a few hundred feet right and get fresh veggies, meats and goodies. - There is a huge dog park a quick walk behind the clubhouse. Our friends come in from the other side of Canton to let their dogs play there. (Canton residents only...Signup is required) - Next to the dog park is a community garden...again, sign-up required. Grow your own veggies! - Lastly, supposedly during the holidays, the Cherry Hill Village housing complex across the street puts on quite a show with sleigh rides and outdoor carolers and such. I was made aware of this too late to enjoy any of it. I still have not received my security deposits back yet, so I reserve the right to amend this review later :)

I live in one of the units that has a brand new kitchen and it is beautiful. The washer and dryer in the basement are great as well! The weird thing right now... the leasing office has a giant hole in the roof. In June (ish), there was an unfortunate fire that was contained to just the leasing office. But, it's now February of the next year and the hole is still there... not covered at all... One of the reasons I wanted to move in there (specifically to my building) was because they had a nice small gym in the leasing office... that is obviously out of commission. Not sure why it's still standing or gaping open. It's just such an eye-sore... and you lose out on the on-site gym. Grounds maintenance (especially winter) leaves something to be desired. The sidewalks are ICY - salt is not a common practice. The plows get out into the parking lots quickly but it's one swipe down the middle of the lot - never the parking spaces or anything - even when empty. It's pretty awful...

The Lake Shore Apartments

I've been living at The Lake Shore Apartments for almost a year now, and I can honestly say that…read morethis was the perfect fit for me personally! I live in one of the non-high-rise structures on the 3rd floor--not a lakeview, but a great location nevertheless! *Safety: (+) Ypsi isn't exactly the safest place, but Lake Shore offers some comfort in the gated grounds & security gated entrance (someone there 24/7). (-) Even though there is a secured entrance, sometimes people follow you through the gate instead of checking in or swiping their entry fob separately (which can be really worrisome since you don't know whether that person is a resident--I suppose there isn't much Lakeshore can do about this problem though, unfortunately). *Value: (+) For the price, size, + amenities, it's a great value--they offer free workout classes and all kinds of events each month--it's a great place to make connections! The complex is always looking to increase participation in events & activities, and they work hard to make it feel like your money is coming back to you (e.g., monthly Bingo to win rent credit)... (-) The price seems higher comparatively to other Ypsi residences and possibly out of reach for someone on a really tight budget--I had to sacrifice other expenses because I wanted a safer place more removed from Ypsi (always read the online reviews for those seemingly "too-good-to-be-true" places). (-) From the renewal lease terms, it seems that rent goes up every year...and not just a few bucks--it might become unaffordable if you stay more than a year without an income increase. (-) For how much they do & all the amenities they offer, it seem that Lake Shore sometimes cuts corners to save money or doesn't have money to make necessary repairs. For example, the dog park fence is broken in places, and I found out from other residents it's been like that for a few years now. Also, they advertise 5 tennis courts but 3 of the 5 are not open due to a crack in the court that has been there since before I got there. *Staff: (+) Management is really responsive to your questions, concerns, & suggestions. They may not always be able to accommodate, but you know that they at least listen. And the staff member who plans activities is always looking to help residents market their talents for the benefit of all other residents. I've heard some examples of management giving people a hard time despite extenuating circumstances, but my personal experience is that they are always at least willing to listen and try to work with you. They're understandably hesitant to break the terms of your lease since it's a legal contract. *Maintenance/Utilities: (+) My personal experience with maintenance has been a positive one--they respond to requests quickly and efficiently for the most part. For example, I once realized that a raccoon had gotten into the wall of my balcony through the roof, and maintenance staff took care of the problem within a week, updating me on their progress. Regarding utilities, my thermostat is certainly not perfect, but the bills seem manageable in the apartments where you pay for your own usage. I paid max $100 total utilities (incl gas heat, sewer, water, trash) in the cold winter months (no one was living on the 2nd or 1st floor beneath me during the winter months), and up to $50 for electric/ central air in the summer. Note: those in the high rise with AC units may have a different story to tell, as well as those living lakeside in the winter months. (-) I've heard resident "horror stories" about problems with maintenance or heating/cooling that never quite get fixed. *Pets: (+) It's quite pet friendly!! There is a dog park which many residents use, as well as dog waste stations around the property. Having both an initial move-in deposit plus a monthly pet fee seems a little much, but is comparable to other apartment complexes in the area. (-) People don't always clean up after their pets, and many tie their dogs out (which is against the rules). *Parking: (+) It's fairly easy to find parking somewhere in the complex, though perhaps not always right near your apartment door. You can purchase a carport which is reasonably priced ($15/mth) and well worth the price in the winter months! (-) Some areas of the complex have better parking access than others for general parking. *Quality of Living: (+) I can honestly say I feel quite lucky that I get along with many of my neighbors and have few complaints about my personal living situation this past year. (-) I've heard about and witnessed some concerning things, including the constant smell of marijuana in the halls, thin walls and noise/music, pervasive dog barking, and some owners who cannot control their aggressive dogs (and bring them in the dog park even though they know the dog is aggressive). (+) Luckily, Lake Shore is responsive to complaints and tends to do their best to identify the problem resident and manage the problem.

Never any loud fights or anything that made me feel unsafe when I'm here alone. Maintenance has been out twice & is prompt. Being so close to Ford Rd. has its pros & cons. I can walk to WalMart if I need milk or am missing a quick ingredient for a recipe. Very convenient. On the other hand, there is always, without a doubt, traffic. It can usually be avoided by taking Warren instead. Our fridge squeaks, bathtub gets very moldy (even after being recaulked) & plugs easily, countertops really need to be refinished because they are stained and peeling (we could try to call about them, haven't yet). It's not perfect, but it's the cheapest around that isn't shady. You won't have to worry about bugs or things being dirty (maybe stained or scuffs on the hallway walls, but not dirty). I've lived here for 3 months so far (Oct-Jan), so I cannot comment on the pool. I have a 2 bed 1 bath unit. Pros: -No surprises/things I wasn't expecting -Safe Location- Old Village Plymouth and Hines Drive. -Friendly, personal staff. They sent me a hand signed Christmas card. -Very well maintain units. Extremely clean upon move in. Carpet was brand new and appliances were in excellent condition. -Spacious+big windows with lots of natural light. (Windows are newer, not drafty like previous places I've rented from) -Grounds are very well maintained, snow removal is prompt -No dogs (I like dogs, but I've have dog poop problems at other apartments.) -Water and heat are included with rent -One reserved parking space per unit and additional parking for guests. Depending on the unit, the additional parking might not be as close as some people prefer. I've never had a problem finding spots. -Low turnover of tenants (Some of my neighbors have been here for 7+years Cons: -Washers/Dryers are coin and in the communal basement. Not a surprise or huge issue. -Heat uses a boiler system, so you can hear water running through it occasionally. It's minor and the plus is that it doesn't make the air as dry as regular HVAC. -Expect to hear the occasional train. I didn't realize how many trains come through Plymouth. -No gym/amenities. I'm ok with this since the rent is so low. -No dishwasher or microwave. I've read other reviews that say there are dishwashers, but I think that is only in one of the buildings. They were upfront about it and let me see my actual unit before signing my lease. I wasn't real excited about another apartment (I want to buy a house) but this is a great option. Could you find an apartment with more expensive finishes like granite counter tops? Yes. Could you find a cheaper apartment? Yes, but likely not in Plymouth or as nice. What you see is what you get. Considering all of the pros, these apartments are an excellent value and great place to live. All things considered, you won't regret choosing Lake Pointe Village Apartments

We ran away from it after hearing the horrible reviews. Then Village Green took over so we decided it give it another chance and it turned out to be a great decision. The staff is very responsive. They are well aware of the former management company, so they seem to take extra care to make sure that our needs were met when we moved in. Much needed renovations with the apartments and road are underway as well. They are actually taking care of the place and doing these updates make the complex many years newer. I am pleased to see this finally happen after dealing with a worn down complex full of potholes in the road. But.. like all things, nothing is perfect. When we moved in, the apartment was not as clean as we would expect as the cleaning company did a poor job. However, The management staff took this very seriously and wanted to be sure that we were attended to immediately. Again their responsiveness is excellent. This makes up for it as I still give this place 5 stars. I hope they keep this up, keep fair values to these apartments, and continue to maintain this complex to its potential.
