The displays are spectacular and we quite often just go in for a wander round, it is very magical for the children. You will usually find Rudolph in there somewhere along with other woodland creatures, lots of Christmas trees with brightly coloured lights, well worth a visit if you haven't been before.

Actually if I lived in Milton Keynes can imagine it's a popular place to take children for an outing. There is a large cafe with ample choice, a toys section with some LEGO sets I haven't seen elsewhere and unusual foods to take home and experience. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because the prices are significantly higher than they need to be both in the shops and the cafe. I appreciate it's a pleasant experience so a premium has to be paid but I felt it higher than it needs to be.

As well as plants, they also have tools, seeds, furniture for the garden and conservatory, an absolutely massive gifts section with lots and lots of smelly candles and things like that, as well as a foodie bit with it's own delicatessen as well. It's a bit pricey for the food and gifty bits, but the plants and things aren't too bad cost wise I don't think. When it first opened my sister in law and myself managed to spend several hours wandering round the place looking at everything which might give an indication of just how big it is.

There is a branch of Cotton Traders and a picture framers. There is a great shop called eco-street which has lots of different styles of low energy light bulb wind-up radios and wind-up torches. They even have a wind-up front bike light which was going to be the invention that made my fortune since I'd looked all over the place for them. I'm now going to have to invent a wind-up rear light in order to make my fortune since for some reason they don't stock the back lights. They also refill Ecover washing up liquid and cleaning stuff and have bigger stuff such as photovoltic cells if you are thinking of going seriously green. And then there are the fish and reptiles. All parents of young children know that to have a cheap afternoon out on a rainy winter's day you go to somewhere that sells fish. This place has a Shirley Aquatics concession that sells beautifully displayed tropical fish and live corals. They also sell reptiles and stick insects. And sometimes they'll get the snakes out and let you stroke them. They do stock boring, grown-up things like hot tubs, swimming pools, garden sheds and even plants. And useful things like mouse traps. But lots of people go just to potter around and enjoy ourselves and it is a great place for doing just that.

There's a nice selection of sweet and savory items. I found the individual portions of clotted cream and jam delightful as they were also quality brands. My mocha was large to begin with but when we discovered we could order as many teas or espresso drinks we could handle we couldn't believe it. I could only fit in two but considering most places only allow one order of such a drink and top up water only this was such a bonus. The setting was quite lovely, if you can get a window seat even better, but there's a few trees and things scattered throughout the space. They also have breakfast and lunch menus which looked quite substantial and a dedicated kids menu which is always welcomed. The staff were very friendly too. If you do want to do high tea, they require at least 24 hrs notice, however you may get lucky if you're trying to get in last minute.
