There were some hardcore Sunday shoppers here and rightly so this place is beautiful. Full on country side vibe with every possible flower and shrub imaginable! I got my trolley and causally stilled around the centre settling on buying some sunflowers and other really hard to pronounce types of flowers for my mom and dads front garden. I have no idea who named some of these varieties of flowers....but they went innnnn...I won't lie a lot of them I couldn't pronounce but I gave it a good go..with varying results.... The flowers here are super cheap too the sunflowers were like 1.50 each and most pots are below £3...bargains galore!! The only thing to note is the tills are busy...people are flocking for a wide for those bargain blooms so set out an afternoon for this trip it's definitely going to take you a a few to see everything and pay....but that's the vibe surely...loved it.

went to smiths today!!!!!!!!!I had a great experience ,we needed to get some plants for the garden…read moreand we were really sucsessful today.I was really pleased with the experience today.There were thousands of plants in the garden centre,there were a lot in the inside area and an absolute abundance of plants outside.Also all plants were well kept and very watered,actually helped me keep cool in all this heat,they obviously take pride in each and every one of their plants.Also there is so much stock of everything(plants and non-plants).This has really pleased me as I've seen some garden centres which has hardly any plants and they are all neglected.However in this garden centre,they even have Christmas trees in June,but I suppose today(the day I wrote my review)is only 6 months till Christmas Eve!!!!!!!!!But I cannot see why you can't have a Christmas tree in June if you want to.I brought 3 small ones!!!!!!!!!Also I've been to garden centres in Christmas and they haven't had christmas trees.Also they were really well staffed as well,and our cashier was polite and even offered for someone to help us load the car.Also the smiths golf thing right at the back of the garden centre looks great and I'm sure will make a lot of money for the garden centre.Also their drive thru concept to collect soil was good and very well thought out,it's like a McDonald's drive thru but you show you're receipt to staff and then drive on to get the soil.Lovely experience!!!!!!!!

It offers an extremely comprehensive range of products. Staff in the outside area can be hard to find but there are knowledgeable staff available if you need advice as I did when selecting a fruit tree for my garden. The level of customer service is high, I was surprised to discover that if you buy a heavy bag of fertiliser or compost it will be taken to your car on an electric carrier! So all in all a recommended place to go for garden supplies and products.

There is a branch of Cotton Traders and a picture framers. There is a great shop called eco-street which has lots of different styles of low energy light bulb wind-up radios and wind-up torches. They even have a wind-up front bike light which was going to be the invention that made my fortune since I'd looked all over the place for them. I'm now going to have to invent a wind-up rear light in order to make my fortune since for some reason they don't stock the back lights. They also refill Ecover washing up liquid and cleaning stuff and have bigger stuff such as photovoltic cells if you are thinking of going seriously green. And then there are the fish and reptiles. All parents of young children know that to have a cheap afternoon out on a rainy winter's day you go to somewhere that sells fish. This place has a Shirley Aquatics concession that sells beautifully displayed tropical fish and live corals. They also sell reptiles and stick insects. And sometimes they'll get the snakes out and let you stroke them. They do stock boring, grown-up things like hot tubs, swimming pools, garden sheds and even plants. And useful things like mouse traps. But lots of people go just to potter around and enjoy ourselves and it is a great place for doing just that.

The prices are competitive and they do daily delivery to St Albans (other areas have 2 days in the week for deliveries). The team in the Plant Information & Advice Centre are incredibly helpful and they have lots of free booklets to help with maintaining your garden (laying turf, planting trees etc.).

The garden centre is now ENORMOUS! You get to it by walking down a mall with various other shops there - Cotswold, Hobbycraft, Lakeland etc. When you're in the garden centre you immediately see a nice cafe on your left and a smaller coffee bar as well. Straight ahead of you is the outdoor area where there is a huge selection of plants, sculptures and furniture. There's even a section dedicated to paving as well. Back inside you'll find an upmarket food hall and a nice selection of furniture/homewares. There is also an area for bulbs and garden tools inside. The best thing about this time of year is that there is a great christmas shop as well!
