There is a large quiet section with large cubbies & other areas which I have yet to explore. The lower level has a large selection of CD's & DVD's. Going to the restroom felt a bit ominous because the lower level is usually less populated & the bathrooms are secluded. I would definitely be back here for quiet study or for a change of scenery from my local library. The staff have not been too friendly or welcoming but I did not interact more with them besides exchanging a simple "hello" or "goodbye."

My kids enjoy climbing in there with a book. The adult section is nice too. It's a beautiful round space with lots of sunlight and work / reading spaces. I haven't tried their classes yet, but must say I am intrigued by the French conversation classes and the knitting club. This library is a beautiful, well light community space for people to come and share a love for reading. I take my kids there often so they can learn to love books and reading as well and there are plenty of resources for them to do so.

The current location was opened in 1983. The library is on two floors and I a few hours at a desk upstairs where it was quiet and peaceful. Power outlets for charging, free wifi for surfing and working, and no interruptions other than a couple of kids who got shushed by the librarian. A more than pleasant time. Non-residents can use the library and the wifi. You only need to be a resident if you're wanting to borrow materials from the library. And they have more than books! I have only exercised the system once where i had a friendly libertarian order me a book from another. Remember to return you books on time, as I'm pretty sure they'll even take it on a CC now.. ;)

Palisades Park Public Library has a calendar of events for each month. Each event shares a description and sometimes registration is required. The space is small and comfortable to be in knowing it's never crowded and too loud. When my lil guy was looking through one of the books, one of the friendly librarians was asking if he loved reading and was multitasking on returning books to the shelves ( thank you for being chatting with my lil guy even if he was a bit shy). We stopped by on a cold winter evening (it was only 5 p.m., but you know how winter evenings feel). The first thing that caught my attention wasn't the books--but dinosaur footprints. Yes, dinosaurs! I later learned that during the construction of the interstate near I-80 in the 1960s, stone slabs containing dinosaur footprints were discovered. These footprints are believed to be around 180 million years old, wow, that's a lot! :) The library itself is a community-focused public library offering a good collection of books along with digital resources such as eBooks and audiobooks. They also provide computers, printing/fax services, and programs for all age groups. It's part of the Main Library Alliance, which means access to a much larger shared collection. The staff were very helpful--they helped my wife in creating her library card and patiently answered all her questions. There is a dedicated kids' section, which is well set up, and the overall dinosaur theme throughout the library makes it unique and engaging, especially for families. Overall, this is a small to medium-sized library with a strong community feel. A great place for readers, families, and anyone who enjoys learning something new

Not just the visitors but the staff was incredibly loud, speaking across the room to one another and other guests. I walked out knowing the business of not just the staff but a few of the visitors as well, and my uncompleted work. It was absolutely chaotic, not the environment of a library whatsoever. As an academic, I have spent many years going to libraries as a means to concentrate on a task. Im not sure i would return to this library again.

I really enjoyed their summer reading program they offered this year for adults. My biggest complaint is with a few of the staff members. There are a few staff who are very rude and unhelpful. A few times I asked an older gentleman for help and he quickly responded in a rude matter, saying I can't help you. He wouldn't even try to ask a colleague or attempt to help me. I finally found a different librarian and they had to remedy the situation and teach their colleague the process. On the other hand, there are many librarians who are very friendly and helpful, but it doesn't go for everyone. In addition, they are very quick to accuse you of damaging books. The smallest tear or stain requires you to pay a large fine to replace the book. There is something called wear and tear that happens when books are lent out to people and that's the reality of a library. Overall, I am happy with the library and appreciate the resources.
