There was a major renovation in 2023. Virtual studio tours are available. The studio is shared by its sister station WVBT. WAVY's transmitter is in Suffolk. The current owner is Nexstar Media Group, The first station broadcast was on September 1, 1957 as an ABC affiliate. It has undergone many changes of ownership. One of the company's that owned the station was Lin Broadcasting. A former President of that company happened to be someone I worked closely with in my job a zillion years ago while working for a media group based in Atlanta. The station also swapped network affiliations with WVEC, the current local ABC affiliate, In my opinion WAVY has an excellent news and weather organization. They operate their own Doppler Weather, which is appreciated by this weather geek. In particular I enjoy their noon news. The anchor and meteorologist have great rapport. Bringing laughter and joy into a world with bad news every day is important. I particularly like Don Slater, their Chief Meteorologist Emeritus. He retired and then decided he missed the job. I'm so glad. He makes weather fun and you feel his excitement in covering big weather events. He is funny, which I love. Duties are split with the beginning of the week covered by a new meteorologist, who is young and personable. NBC itself airs a lot of shows and sports that I enjoy. Thank you WAVY, the Call Sign that well describes our Coastal area, for being my news & weather fix.

However as a Math + Teacher I answered to a Higher Power and never feared doing the right thing. Choosing to be part of the Solution, NOT the problem. I never got a réponse to my email. Even if you don't choose to help me let me know at least. Respect the fact that I enabled you because YOU said that I would hear back. I believed you, until I didn't. And please Correct me if I'm wrong. I was told to get "10 on your Side" to hear my story. So I apologize in advance if Wavy TV Channel 10 is NOT 10 on your side. Ps: Not on my side tho ‍

Well I only visited here for about 5 minutes…read more My babe was lucky enough to win tickets from one of their online contests. Therefore, I had to come here to pick up the winnings. From the Monitor Merrimac tunnel it's about 5 minutes away. The drive from Chesapeake Square Mall wasn't that bad. Seemingly, there was no traffic around the 3pm hour on a Wednesday. The office was not hard to find at all. It's walking distance from interstate 664. There wasn't any security block I had to pass before walking into the office. I expected to be "buzzed" in, but I guess they have an open door policy. Trustworthy people I assume! Soon as you walk in there is a conference size table for 8 or more. And a television set on the station Sky 4 TV! I was greeted by someone immediately. She was friendly and the wait wasn't long at all to claim the winnings. If my babe came to pick up the tickets, they would have requested to take his picture and post it for all to see. But because I picked up the tickets, my photo wasn't snapped. This locally owned TV Station plays a lot of local events which is awesome!! Alongside the local events, it also airs The Family Guy and other family oriented programming. Seems like a quiet office and they are always hosting contests on Facebook and Instagram. Happy winning :)

Their big contribution is the way they cover many of the community happenings that other "local" stations don't. The only bummer was, which I dont think we were expecting, the temperatures were reaching 90's degrees and there were no shady areas to rest and cool down. This isnt much of the festival's fault, it's mother nature. *smiles* Lots of activities stations, lots of food vendors...lots to do. They had a petting zoo, arts & craft stations, playdoh station, play house stations, a kiddie area for the younger one like ball pits, tunnels etc. I felt like a kid all over again. I made sure that my daughter was the one doing all of the activities, even though I was itching to do some myself....Heck, I got chocolate milk brom Oberweis...delicious! Cant wait to go back next year! Wish the festival was a bit longer like a 2 day thing versus one day. It gives families options.

There is no room for cranky kids to just chill out because there's so much traffic. And if there are booths who aren't patient with kids then they probably shouldn't be there at a children's Festival for example there was a booth for for brain balance and she was just getting very aggravated with the kids who didn't want to do the whole cycle who did just want to do the trampoline. I'm sorry that my two-year-old doesn't want to do a whole brain activity she just wants to jump on the trampoline. Other than that the festival had great ideas for the kids to do like I said it was just too much and they should definitely do it for the whole weekend not just one day it would probably help with the overcrowding.
