I meet with my child's teacher here today and had to bring my two little babies along with me. Let me also say they had two other people there besides us. My babies were babbling a little , not crying or screaming and even with that I was doing my best to keep them quiet . The other customers there were nicer then the staff . one lady came up said how sweet and cute my boys were not bothered at all Then two seconds later the staff member lady came up to me asking me to please keep my kids quiet which was kinda rude as she sees me walking them around TRYING to do jus that Then not even kidding maybe 3 mins later as we are wrapping up the meeting a security guy Comes nears us and just stares a minute before speaking. Um r u trying to intimidate me? lol never. How about speak don't stare, Then he tells me "you need to get ur kids to stop making noises or I'm gonna have to get you out of here" in a rude manner. So yea I'm getting upset at this point. Like how rude are you kidding me. I just said I'm doing my best and that we were getting our things to leave. I will never come back. They made us, including the teacher, very uncomfortable. Thanks for that guys

Great section for kids…read more I love how they have child height rows. They also have little tables to do activities and comfy seats for kids to read. The tables had coloring pages and crayons ready for kids to use. Great selection of children books. They also have a gorgeous mural that ties the kids section together! Will definitely be back. Had a great time! Clean restrooms, clean and organized library. Nice staff. Next time I will explore the other sections.

This is a big and beautiful convenient library with lovely staff and a safe and quiet ambiance…read more First and foremost, I want to thank the ladies inside at the information and help desk who were so kind, silent and solid, patient and had a great sense of humor. They assisted me with getting my official library card and went the extra mile in getting me a Cantonese language guide that was not on the shelf or checked out. It took them just 4 minutes to go in the bank and locate it. The library is clean and has a lot of sunlight coming in. They have a good variety of books. The patrons at this location seemed respectful and followed the rules. Loved the little Friends of the Library bookstore to the left upon entry that sells vinyls, DVDs and books to support the library. Love the indoor and outdoor parking. Love that the Starbucks is within walking distance as are some lovely restaurants and stores in Victoria Gardens. Loved this Library!!!!!

There's also a DVD section to check out disc and there are also private study rooms. I believe I saw like 3 or 4 rooms. I thought the rooms were pretty cool, since the library isn't always as quiet as you'd like it to be. Getting a card is pretty simple....just present proof of residency in the city and you'll have a card.

Lived in Palmdale for 3 years now…read more I personally felt racially profiled, the only time I go to this library is to simply to print the files I need for projects, a white homeless man (Big 50 year old man) came up to me who I seen while working security at one of my jobs and made snaky weird comments and got close to my face. Me and him got into a loud verbal altercation, he was in my personal space and he began to yell when I told him to back up. We yelled at each other until Library Staff came and told us to leave. However, this blonde female staff worker said something to homeless individualbut focused her attention on me. The homeless individual walked away while they proceed to tell me to leave. Another Hispanic/White female with her Disabled Daughter (probably Autistic) said I was rude because I told her to move and tried to side with the homeless dude (Lady was glued to her phone and not paying attention to her "Disabled" daughter" ) As I was printing my copy and The Director Robert Shupe came along with 5 staff surrounding me as I was printing my paper I calmly tried to explain to Robert the backstory and he cut me off to say "I don't care about the backstory" after getting the print I needed. I complied and proceed to exit the structure. Robert wanted to talk to me out side which I agreed to and I understand their policy and keeping peace, but I felt like the blonde female staff worker was bias because how did she let the homeless individual just walk away to hide. My mom came and talked to. He reassured there was no profiling but I doubt it by the female's demeanor towards me. Robert appreciated me explaining the backstory (privately not publicly) and situation is in progress partially resolved. I do want to report the female staff worker due to her selective enforcement and potential bias of the situation. This is why recording and camera are appropriate evidence to protect yourself. I have nothing against homeless people but having 1 female security guard and not a male especially not armed, Seems pretty risky. I am about advancement but city needs to stop being cheap with the safety of others.

Weekdays it is open from 9 AM to 9 PM, but closed on Sundays. Huge lot for parking. The library itself is beautiful. There's a large fountain in the center of the building that gives the space a unique, open feel, and it makes the library feel more like a community gathering place with an air of nostalgia and calmness that comes with a spa day. There are lots of tables and study areas spread throughout the library, so it's never difficult to find a place to sit. The collections are plentiful, with a wide selection of books across different genres, mixed media, and materials for everyone including a dedicated children's area. One feature that was new to me was the Makerspace. It's available by appointment for library card holders, and you'll need to bring your own design or project idea. An instructor is there to guide you through the process, which makes it less intimidating for anyone interested in learning something new. It lives next to a café located on the lower level, which is convenient if you plan on spending a few hours studying or working. Overall, this is an amazing library with great amenities, plenty of space, and resources that go beyond books. This is somewhere I recommend everyone checks out when they're in the area - pun intended.
