Sure enough, the engine threw a rod and punctured the oil pan. The car was dead and I was on my way to get them. Despite closing at 5pm he and his crew waited for me to get there two hours later, helped me load the car onto a dolly (properly!) and sent me on my way with a minimal charge for the tow. I guarantee that if was something simple (water or fuel pump) I would have had them do the work.

We all know what happens next, that unmistakable thump of a flat. The worst kind of flat; a side wall puncture on a rear tire on a holiday weekend. Luck was with us, we were within a short limp to an exit with plenty of room to park. Quickly as we come to a stop and get out to inspect the damage, Scott pulls along side and asks if he could help. Naturally suspicious of being approached so quickly, we asked a few questions. Scott in short order put us to ease as he identifies himself as a AAA provider, I had completely missed the logos that were everywhere. He also discussed his background. Scott was also willing to help immediately, he happened to be going by and saw us in trouble. My first impression, ok well my second impression after the surprise of seeing help arrive so quickly; was this: I don't think I have met such a well mannered, knowledgable and capable mechanic is years. The way I remembered true professional tradesmen that were much more common in the past. My wife called AAA to get work approval while Scott started in on the task. When AAA asked for his "shop number", he quickly rattled off the data, while on the ground retrieving the spare. This guy is a machine. Chris obviously knew what he was doing. He had the tires changed and the jack coming down by the time the approval came through. NASCAR should be talking to Chris about leading a Pit crew. If I lived more closely, he would be "my" mechanic. For now Scott will be in my contacts as the go to guy in western MD for all things in automotive service.

I left D&J a voicemail at 4:30 on a Friday night to get a second opinion. He called me back within 15 minutes and explained all of my options better than the other shop and the car insurance company combined. Then, on Monday, once I had seen the car and taken pictures, he gave me a $100 solution to what the other company wanted $3300 for (and should have seen in the first estimate) and said another piece they claimed needed to be fixed was structurally sound. He offered to work with me to get secondhand parts to fit within my budget if I chose to salvage the car or drop the insurance claim- and I never paid him a dime for his services! I wish I would have taken our car to D&J instead of going through insurance and the other company. They are honest, communicative and truly have the customer's best interests in mind!

I went the next day to get several belongings out of my vehicle. I spoke with Mike (owner) and asked him if my vehicle was totaled. (It was pretty close to being totaled). He laughed and said it was no where near being totaled, and it was only about 5,000 worth of damage. I used to work at a car dealership, I know how a body shop works. They don't want it to be totaled, no money in their pocket. I immediately called Bill's Auto Body and had my vehicle removed from Mike's and towed to Bill's. They did an estimate for 10,545.43. And it only needs to be 11,500 to be totaled. So YES, it was in fact very close to being totaled. Bill's were absolutely amazing to me!

If I could rate a zero I would. Over charged for towing and labor and car still isn't fixed. We…read morearrived around 9am. Then we had to wait for the mechanic to arrive which was 20 minutes later. He began hook up a code reader to the fuse box to check the issues. We were told cylinder misfired, and piston rings were affected. Then some random customer pulls up and the mechanic stops working on OURS to work on theirs! They had t get tires balanced and filled, which took away 30-40 minutes from ours. He comes back to our car and lifts it on one side to see if he could fix it that way. NOTHING WAS DONE! He blowed some WD40 and air to clean off engine and debris, and then looked at his watch and said he has to go pick up girlfriend and there was nothing else he could do for us because it needed more work but he was ready to go. By this time it's 3:45pm. WASTED OUR TIME all day and for nothing! Then turn around and BLOCKS US IN... and charges us $300+ ... EXCESSIVE and UNNECESSARY. We paid what we could because of bank issues and we agreed to pay the rest next week. We didn't expect the bill to be that much and we wasn't prepared for that high bill. They finally moved to let us out and we have to drive 30-45 mi all the way home because it never got fixed. I will not be recommending to anyone. Very unprofessional. I appreciate the effort but try harder to please the customer that was there first.

With almost 8 hours in front of me I just cited to stop in this quaint little town to rest for the night properly and avoid the storm. That being said, I wanted to go to Walmart and buy a few items as well as fill the gas tank up so after I left Walmart, I was heading down the road that the hotel I'm staying at is on. For some reason I just had to fill up all the way as I usually do. I went to turn in to the parking lot of a gas station that looked like it might be open. I slowly turned in to the parking lot and as I did, there was part of the curve, that's hard to describe how it's made, but it's sharp and I busted my tire. The hole knocked in. It must've been at least 4 to 5 inches maybe even larger. I was about a half a mile from home if that or hotel, rather, as Home is in Vermont. I called a company called Mr. Tire and he recommended Abe's towing, I was reluctant at first, because I didn't know anything about them, but the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was unbelievably polite and knowledgeable as well. They said they have a guy out within 30 minutes to pick it up, 30 minutes? On a weekend? You can't get that service anywhere besides that the driver Chris was here before I could even finish getting my clothes back on. He by far, one of the best representatives for a company you could have, Chris explained everything completely, and treated my Jeep like a baby! I cannot say enough about Chris, I went from a very foul mood to having a pretty brighter outlook pretty quick. The price is reasonable and likely less than anybody that you call and when they say a half an hour, start getting ready immediately because they're very fast to get to your location. I believe the entire fleet is that way, to the people who deserve it and probably to those that don't. They are just a solid company from what I've seen and heard. They are highly recommended among the people I talk to they have a few different shops, so if you can't get in one, you can definitely get another. They have a convenient online sign up for appointments! I love that part of the website. So many towing companies out there or just out for the buck, but not these people they're out for your business, they're genuine, transparent, and follow through with their word. I would say, use them, and to those that do congratulations, you just made a good friend. I had to call again to get another appointment an hour later and they never showed up. I waited out in the sun for half a hour to make sure they saw me. The guy on the phone was extremely rude. I asked him to talk to the guy and make sure they had the right address. He said "I'm not getting in the middle of it". Extremely rude unprofessional behavior. I did not make it to work that day despite having four hours before I had to leave for work.
