Brown Bagger Food Truck Pensacola's brown‑paper‑bagged…read morebeauty of burger bliss man, lemme tell ya, nothing hits quite like a food truck burger when the spirit calls for something honest, greasy, and downright soulful. It's one thing to swing into a classy restaurant or belly up to a fine bar stool, but sometimes an old coot just wants a bun in one hand and the smell of grill smoke on his boots. That's where Brown Bagger delivers the goods, and then some. I pulled up to that truck on a sun‑soaked afternoon, and there was this fella let's call him Big Mike on the flattop slinging patties like he was born flipping 'em. Big Mike didn't just make my double Wagyu smash; he gave me a PhD in burger philosophy between laughs. "You ever notice," he said while slapping that sizzling meat like a pro wrestler body‑slamming a bad guy, "a burger's only as honest as the fist that builds it?" I tell ya what that man could sell sand in the desert and make you thank him for it. He stacked cheese, grilled onions, and that signature Bagger Sauce onto that bun with the sort of focus you usually only see from surgeons and ex‑wives signing divorce papers. Those burgers? Forget just good they're the kind of juicy, salty, glorious mess that makes you smack your lips and swear solemn oaths you never thought you'd swear in public. Smash‑style wagyu patties, fresh fixings, and just enough attitude to remind you that this? This is the golden era of eating food trucks parked next to bars, cold beer close at hand, and a butcher's apron of stories to take home with ya. So if you find yourself in Pensacola with a hankerin' for something that'll make you slap your knee and grin like a mule eatin' briars, roll your way over to the Brown Bagger. It ain't just a burger it's a roadside sermon in a bag, preached by a man who knows his beef and your funny bone. Amen.

Cafe Single Fin: Great Concept, Average Plate…read more Cafe Single Fin is one of those places where the experience starts before you even find the restaurant. I drove around the block several times looking for it. Turns out, the restaurant is tucked inside a surf and skateboard shop. Once I finally figured that out, I walked in and immediately knew this wasn't going to be your average Pensacola lunch. The cafe is basically the centerpiece of the shop, surrounded by some seriously interesting vibes. I was greeted by scream-o music, which eventually segued into coffeehouse music and then some lighter indie stuff. Quite the musical journey. I half expected the playlist to ask me to pick a lane. What drew me in was the menu. Clean, interesting and exactly the kind of thing that makes you think, OK, these people might be onto something. I went with the blackened mahi tacos with rice and beans. And this is where things got a little less interesting. The food was fresh. The presentation was nice. Unfortunately, the flavor never really showed up for work. The mahi was supposed to be blackened, but I'm not convinced the blackening seasoning actually made it from the kitchen to the plate. The beans were also undercooked and under-seasoned. Nothing was bad, exactly. It just lacked the punch that the menu had promised. And that's the frustrating part. There is clearly a cool concept here, and the menu has enough personality to make you expect something memorable. The plate just didn't deliver the same energy as the room. Maybe I'm simply outside the target demographic. There seemed to be a pretty strong twenty-something surf/skate crowd, and perhaps I'm just not fluent in the culinary dialect of that demographic yet. Interesting place. Interesting concept. Interesting vibes. Friendly/helpful staff. Pretty average food.

My go-to is the vegan Costa wrap. It is 10 out of 10, packed with protein, the melted vegan cheese is actually good, the burrito is seared and crunchy, and the salsa is perfect. The vegan pastries and desserts are phenomenal as well. I highly recommend the s'mores cupcake or the banana bread. They also have tasty smoothies. The pumpkin spice latte with oat milk or a vanilla iced latte is also great. The staff is very friendly and personable, making it a great place to sit and get work done. With a skate park, surfboards, shoes, clothing, and other goodies for sale, there is so much to explore. I highly recommend checking it out!

The vibe in this place is pretty good, played decent music and the service was really good-our server was that perfect balance of attentive while letting us enjoy our dinner in peace if that makes sense. My party ordered various margaritas for dinner-while I ordered an Old Fashioned($9.00). I can say for sure this was the most full Old Fashioned I've ever had, pretty stiff and was probably my favorite part of dinner. We also ordered chips and salsa($4.00)-Flavorless salsa and bland tortilla chips. I ended up ordering their namesake dish the Flying Burrito($17.00) which features Skirt Steak, Chicken, and Creole Shrimp. The steak and chicken were fine, but the shrimp was a completely different story. It was extremely fishy and had a rubbery texture that made it nearly impossible to enjoy. I instantly thought, "Yep, this is probably going to make me sick." I checked the walls and this place has won many local awards so maybe they were just having a bad night but yeah didn't love much about this place outside of the Old Fashioned.

Where they fell short...we ordered salmon crudo at the same time that we ordered oysters and there was a very long delay between the two, our waitress even came over twice to reassure us that the crudo was coming. But...our entrees were brought out before the crudo. kind of defeats the purpose of a cold crudo when you're eating it with your hot entree :-( We were comped a dessert, which we would have ordered anyway...to add insult to injury, my snapper was overcooked and dry! DH said his scallops were delicious, but lacked the promised orange flavor. Funny/not funny, eating the crudo left me disappointed and wishing for a better experience. I actually continued to think about it when I got home, it bothered me that much.
