This abstract sculpture is located in the Ecolab Plaza in front of the Obson370 Building. It was…read moredesigned by Ron R.M. Fischer and subsequentially fabricated by American Structural Steel in 2000. It is made of durable stainless steel and acrylic and is in great shape. That was not always the case though. The piece suffered from severe rust until 2004. It was then treated to survive the brutal elements of St Paul. The plaza that it is located in is nice, but there are no benches or other seating available to hang out at. It is a wide open area that is lined with paver bricks. Fisher was inspired by the crystalline forms of Saint Paul's historic ice palaces and garden gateway. It is a massive piece that is the centerpiece of the plaza. The sphere is illuminated at night giving the viewer a different experience during the day versus the night. I will be honest, without any context, all I saw was a tall tower of a sculpture with a ball and some shading. I did however, still find it impressive. Fischer has hidden symbolism in the sculpture. The blue acrylic sphere symbolizes the water and the sky. And the sphere and the stainless-steel rings combination represent the infinity of time and space. Deep huh! Parking to get a closer look is relatively easy. There is metered street parking and commercial parking lots available within a reasonable walking distance. Anyway, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. You may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.

This sculpture is the work of James Brenner. You will find it in the Central Park West Apartment's…read moreplaza area. It was made in 2018 and is constructed of Aluminum, Ipe wood, sculpted jade glass, fiber optic light. Those durable materials were chosen to have the piece require minimal maintenance in the face of Minnesota's harsh season. It sits in a small fountain/pool, but that pool was empty when I was there. Looking at the piece you see a small solid sphere inside of a lager woven sphere frame. The viewers perspective of the piece is meant top change with their vantage point and distance. At night the smaller sphere in the center illuminates in different colors reflecting in the pool and surrounding larger sphere that it is located inside of. You will find four benches that has poetry related to the respective four seasons inscribed in them, that are positioned around the sculpture that people may sit on. The poems were obtained through a community engagement workshop that was facilitated by a Community Poet. This is a simple, but nice piece and is located in an awesome plaza area. I am feeling this sculpture. Metered street parking is available within a reasonable walking distance. You could probably find some free parking if you looked hard though. Anyway, as with most memorials that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. There is some street parking nearby and with all the construction, I was able to balance my tripod on one of Minnesota's state flowers - an orange barrel - to get a decent selfie. I won't disappoint you with that, instead here are pictures of the mustache itself. Is it actually the World's Largest? Measuring 11.5 feet wide, 3 feet tall, and 22 inches deep maybe it is. It's certainly bigger than Paul Slosar's 25 inch moustache. He lives in Charleston and is the current Guinness World Record holder https://guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/689505-longest-moustache-on-a-living-person-male. And his isn't fuschia. Is there an official spelling of the word? I prefer "moustache" as I have been wearing one for the last 30 years. But others prefer "mustache" and I'll just have to leave that to you. This is a very interesting piece by a husband-and-wife team, Andrea Myklebust and Stanton Sears,…read morethat have worked collaboratively on large scale public art projects for about 30 years. They are both professors of art at Macalester College, St Paul. It is located in front of the The Penfield Apartments and is constructed among some very nice and well maintained landscaping. I am not familiar with the Penfield, but by the looks of the exterior, I am sure it is high end. They made the piece in 2004. It consists of a few pieces. First it features a statue known as the Spirit of the Mississippi River. It is a very nice piece that depicts a golden statue of a young teen holding something between both hands extended out from the body. It is perched high above a tall pedestal made of iron. The pedestal has some grated sections and other sections have shapes such as fish and stars cut outs in them. They emit a beautiful color-changing LED light at night. It is very nice. It is situated on top of a cement pedestal with a bronze plaque with its title and the name of the artist. Another piece of this project are six iron benches that are in the shape of tank mail slot or tank tracks. Right under the top section of the bench is also color changing LED bands. On the end opposite the statue is an iron wall that has randomly placed color-changing LED lights and just adds to the project. This is a nice project that surprisingly has not got a lot of press or acknowledgement. I wish I had its backstory and a better understanding of its symbolism. It is defiantly something to see and I suggest seeing it at night to get its full effect. You cannot miss it. I love the LED effects of all the projects pieces. There is metered street parking available within a reasonable walking distance that you can park at and get a closer look. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. I had fun just standing there, taking pictures, and really taking in the moment. It honestly felt like I was stepping into something iconic. If you're a Prince fan, you'll understand. It's not just a house, it's a piece of history. Being there gave me that nostalgic feeling, like I was connected to the music and the movie in a real way. The area is quiet, so it's more of a quick stop, but I'm so glad I went. Sometimes it's the simple places that leave the biggest impression, and this was definitely one of those moments for me. Overall, I loved it. It was fun, meaningful, and something I'll always remember. If you're in Minneapolis, I definitely recommend stopping by especially if you love Prince

Don't mistake it for Paisley Park, the actually place that prince lived in and recorded. It is just a little old house, that is not very well maintained and looks vacant. It is locate in a event neighborhood, located just outside of downtown. You can easily find street parking available near or in front of the house. As a Prince fan, and a huge lover of the movie, I just had to check it out. I will probably have to review the movie though and compare the house now to when it was in the film. The rumor is that Prince had secretly purchased the house before his death. It do not know if it is true or not. What is true is that there are no special markings placed in front of the house letting you know its significance. It is just plain. For me I would have normally given it two stars, but out of respect for the Purple On, I bumped it up to three. I will be honest, I would not have known this was the house from the movie other than a Google search and would have passed it by many times without even knowing. If you do make it here, this is definitely not a long stop. I would say about 5 minutes tops. Also, remember to be respectfully of. The neighborhood's residents, as the house is not on a movie set, but in an actual neighborhood.

The Prince Tribute Mural isnt hard to find, I put the address into GPS and found with no issues…read more Its located in a weird location, backside of Sencha Tea, use this address to find. Located at the corner of 26th Street and Hennepin Avenue. I parked on the side of the street for a few minutes. The artist did an amazing job of Prince, it very detailed. I agree that it was a bit appalling to see a trash can in front of the mural. It wasn't a good look at all. But, yes its worth the stop to see this beautiful mural. I cropped the dumpster out of my picture, there is no way I could post that dumpster. The artist is a local and deserves all the glory!
