Worldwide Antique doesn't really sell antiques. They're a wholesaler of reproduction antique furniture.
This is where you go if you need to furnish a palace on the cheap but make it look like a billion dollars.
A lot of it can be outright gaudy. Remember that ugly gilded furniture that Saddam Hussein had lining his palaces? They've got it. And it's cheaper than IKEA. But I'd recommend you pass that stuff up.
They also have solid mahogany furniture imported from Indonesia. This, too, is cheaper than what one would find at IKEA, and some of it is very lovely. Some of it is grossly overdone. Some of it has a very "rustic" character to it. You just need to have a well-developed sense of taste to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Probably the best of their inventory are gilt-bronze mounted bombe and serpentine chests in the French style, veneered in sundry exotic woods, and imported from Egypt. While some leave you wondering, "WTF is up with THAT" many are very tasteful and make for eye-catching accent pieces. Occasionally there are issues with fit and finish, but knowing this, you should be able to cherry-pick. They also make AWESOME bathroom vanities!
Ahmad and Tawfik Masri, the proprietors, are always eager to help. Don't get intimidated by the fact it's a warehouse in an industrial park. Just go in, look, and if you find anything you like, make a deal! read more
