It really pains me to leave a negative review about any business. We took the Graveyard Stories…read morewith our Park District Group on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The "tour" included 3 stops. At the first stop we saw the dried up I and M canal where the only mention of ghosts was that the workers who died building the canal were buried in the canal. The highlight of this stop was the washroom in the old toll house. Second stop was a tiny graveyard next to a truck weigh station. We saw where Tom's family was buried. Last stop we saw the grave of a Texan who had been killed in the Civil War. There was nothing ghostly about this tour. Either the Ottawa area has nothing to offer in this regard and this tour doesn't need to exist. Or this tour operator should rename this tour. Not sure what I'd call it. As a history buff, I have taken other graveyard tours and they were far more interesting. One tour I took had graveside reenactments of the people buried there. In this case, it's hard to believe they charge $35 per person for so little information. What may be a well meaning venture to promote Ottawa's history was not a ghostly graveyard tour.

What a Wealth of Knowledge…read more Had friends visiting for the day and booked an afternoon tour with Awesome Ottawa. Some of the people could not walk long distances and Tom tailored the entire tour to be accomodating to them. We all learned so much and the time flew by. We all would do it again to see and learn even more.

I cannot rave enough about the Sainte Genevieve Riverboat!…read more I went on the riverboat for my friend's 40th birthday this fall and it was the BEST experience ever! We did the unlimited mimosas and brunch from 10:30-12:30. The mimosas were fantastic and the food was delicious! They had so much to offer from donuts, cinnamon rolls, brownies, croissants, cheeses, bacon and sausage sandwiches, etc. We were over the moon with what they offered on the brunch cruise. The service was quick and friendly. The boat itself had dining options inside and outside. We sat on the upper deck and it was the perfect spot to take in all of the beautiful fall colors and views. We also saw so many bald eagles on our boat tour as well. If you haven't been on this riverboat tour, you're missing out. I cannot wait to go again!!

The buffet brunch was catered by the Lone Buffalo and it was huge and delicious - veggie quiche, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and a variety of baked goods. Our party had a mimosa and tasty Tangled Roots beers as well. The riverboat, especially the bar and bathrooms, is beautifully remodeled. I think we were just a little early to catch the fall leaves, but we saw some bald eagles and other great scenery. I would definitely take this cruise again!

Review Visit: October 28th, 2012…read more A place that brings back wonderful childhood memories. As a kid, this place was a destination for field trips. I remember coming out here ones or twice and having the time of my life. I blame these field trips for fostering my love for nature and being outside. So, it was only fitting that I revisit Wildlife Nostalgic Park... I mean Wildlife Prairie Park. WPP for short, this place is a fantastic destination for anyone living in Central Illinois or really anywhere in Illinois. During this fall visit, it was my girlfriend and my friend. We casually strolled the main parts while sipping some delicious coffee. The park had changed so much from when I was a kid. There were a few things I remember, but they have since expanded or updated mostly everything. They have a pretty cool snake area that is slightly modeled like a... snake. We played around on some trains and took some goofy photos with those "face cut out" displays. The bulk of the park are the nature preserves with wild floral and fauna. You could spend all day slowly walking through the park, seeing wild cows, wolves, deer, humans, birds, and various other interesting animals. Not only can you visit and see nature, they also have cabins/camping areas to rent out. I haven't personally done this as my group of friends aren't big into camping, but I would love to check it out some day. The prices seem really fair for what you get. Last but not least, they hold events throughout the year. Check out their website for details but I've been to their Ren Faire (Olde English Festival) and it was a blast. They also have a wildly popular Wildlife Scary Park each year for October/Halloween. One of my friends has a membership for WPP and said she has tickets to ride the train. Should this rain ever subside, I think it's time to take her up on her offer to go visit! We only have one Earth. Please treat it with respect. Don't litter. Recycle. Leave nature places cleaner than when you arrived. Future generations will appreciate it.
