I haven't been to a World Market in years... stopped in today to check it out. I always loved seeing the exotic and unique foods from around the world. Prices are a bit on the high side but understandable since they have to import these exotic things from around the world. Left empty handed because I wasn't going to spend $6 on a piece of candy my kids would gobble up in one bite. Lots of fun home items. Reminds me of an expensive HomeGoods. Drove down from Dallas to take my brother's family to NASA Sep 23rd Wanted to buy some fancy wine, We got here around 6:10pm, saw 2 guys walk in as we were parking so we assumed it was open. But when we got to the entrance saw that the store closes at 6pm on sundays. Didn't realize it was already 6pm as we had just finished a late lunch at BB's Tex orleans next door, done some shopping at Barnes and nobles in the same strip mall and then headed to world market for the wine, trying to park close to the entrance Seeing they were closed we were turning to leave & my sister In law said there's a person inside saying something to us, we could not hear her so we stopped to see what she was saying but still couldn't hear her. This person (if I give a factual description woke yelp will Delete my review again) then stomped forward in rage .... Finally reading her lips we understood that she was saying that "we are F***ing closed" and she comes by the store hours sign behind the glass wall wildly gesticulating at the hours, rolling her eyes and throwing a fit. I wonder what was the need for this drama when we were leaving anyway??? read more

I stopped by to find a particular dressing for my son who is in the Navy stationed in Spain. This store at times and can be confusing to maneuver in but once you figure it out if smooth sailing. The store is always very clean and I am always enticed to try and buy something new. Great selection of pasta and sauces, candies, sodas and wines. I absolutely love World Market. I love to go and relaxingly browse through all the interesting things. I picked up stuff for a wine and cheese night. I also love their kitchen gadgets! While I am here I always stock up on wine and did this time I went. I spent well over my intended budget but enjoyed everything that I got. Something strange though I have an app for something else on my phone and one of the wines after I had scanned the bar code to put into my app it pulled up a completely different wine that what was on the actual label of the wine that I bought. So I will defiantly use my scanner next time I am there and see if it happens again. read more

First time ever being in a world market and wanted to take a quick look around, it was 7:40 ish by the time we walked in and first greetings were "Were closing in 10 minutes" cool thanks. Anyways everything was awesome! As much as I wanted to take time looking it was close to 8:00. We were already walking to the exit when a girl employee with a high voice said. "We're closed" and that she can show us the door ! COMPLETELY ignoring the fact I had items in my hands. Experience ruined ! I left my items and walked to the exit her attitude and tone was just awful no matter how "sweet" she pretended to sound. Even the girl by the door had attitude. I love this store--it has everything meaning for worldly. My favorite things here are the vintage candy, toys, food section, furniture, and the cooking supplies. I love the nostalgic things they have here it makes me feel like the world we all used to have when smartphones didn't rule humans and our fast tracked world. I enjoyed when things were simple and when people USED interact with each other face to face rather than through a phone or computer. You literally can lose yourself in this place. The staff on the other hand is friendly--Tim and Asia are my favorites they always seem to turn your frown upside down. This place isn't so much cheap, but then again it isn't all so much expensive. If you got the money--they hurrah good for you, but if you don't--you can still find yourself something nice for the quality and quantity that is all that matters. If you are mundane out of your mind--stop by here you will won't be that way for long. read more

My husband and I went in yesterday to use up a store merchandise card that we had from a previous purchase return. After spending a hour and a half taking our time and shopping, we were ready to check out. The lady at the cash wrap was very nice, but there seems to be a problem with our store merchandise card. She pages the manager (Terry), he leaves to see what the problem could be. When he returned, his demeanor, attitude, tone was completely uncalled for. His response when saying there was no balance on the card when he was the one who issued it to us. After leaving the store without the items in our cart, I looked online and saw the balance of $380 on the card he just told us had nothing on it. Inconveniencing us again, we drive back to show him. He responds very rude as if I was annoying him, had hands over a post it with someone's name and number to have us call. No idea who the guy is nor his position or title. When I ask, "what would he be able to do that you can't?" I get the response, "I don't know what he is going to do!". Leaving with so many questions and so disappointed in how my husband and I were treated, made me really upset and not want to give my business to the store. I have worked in retail and customer service my whole career and could not believe the behavior of a store manager to treat customers the way that we were treated. read more

I just left World Market after I was treated so rudely by a female employee who was stocking the bath products section. She was a young girl late teens to early twenties with thick black curly hair. The underneath of it was dyed blonde. I was smelling the soaps,like I always do when I go there and she loudly said to me, "please don't poke holes in the soaps." I gave her a funny look because I DID not poke a hole in the product. I approached her an told her, "I did not do that. It was already like that." Her response was, "Oh well.... people here do that all the time." Once I lifted the lid the foil seal had already been broken. I was shocked that she said that to me. I was right in front of her and she clearly saw that I did not do that. Her whole attitude was very aggressive and she did not seem to be the slightest bit happy to be at work. I would completely understand her comment, IF I HAD ACTUALLY POKED A HOLE, but like clearly I did not. Check the cameras!!! I come here all the time and will still continue to do so because I love the companies products. But that really left a gross taste in my mouth. She needs to go if she's going to be accusing innocent customers of things they did NOT do. read more

I probably frequent World Market AT LEAST once a week -- more so now that I'm redecorating my apartment. They've got great housewares like the awesome throw pillows (especially the clearance ones) and a ton of cool imported food and drinks. I like to find unique items there to keep on hand like German honey or chocolate-banana spread for when I'm baking. I also love their make your own six-pack and their cheap wine. Seriously, they always have cheap wine and it's a heck of a lot better than the cheap wine you'll find at the grocery store. I've picked up many a $5 bottle of decent wine. I recently bought a queen-sized Malay bed there as well which is my first furniture purchase. I looked around for quite some time for a bed frame that was real wood, was affordable, and was modern with a bit of old world to it. I had to put it together myself but that was easy enough. I seriously love this bed. Now I'm going back to buy the matching nightstand and dresser. I might even buy a couch there since all their furniture is perfect for a small space. I was disappointed with this store. I have been to the other store in the Katy area and was much bigger. They have some nice furniture and items, but they're a bit overpriced. I haven't tried any of the wine or food. I have bought the soaps from here and they have a long lasting smell. They don't dry out like other soaps that I've bought from other places. read more

World Market is one of those places in the 'Burbs where people can go to find more diverse, organic, eco-friendly housewares and food things. I usually end up here on a day when I just want to browse and buy lots of different snacks or wine, or if I'm on the lookout for some unique gifts. I can't attest to the quality of the furniture here as I've never bought any, but I love their housewares and food items. You can find candy in the original style wrappers and chocolates from all over the globe. They also sell those mini travel containers of Nutella, jams, hot sauces, cookies, etc. that are so cute and fit in a lunch bag so well! They usually have some good deals on great wine and champagne and lots of chips, popcorn and other snack time favorites. Outside of the food I've also purchased doggy bath towels (that are actually for your dog), earrings, a bamboo rake for the front yard and quite a few last minute gifts for friends. It's definitely a place you can spend some time just browsing the shelves. read more

That star count seems harsh, but hear me out. I really have nothing against World Market in general, all the cute things, the furniture, the global food options are all great. I love their other locations. It's just, the management of this one. I've been here twice, both times around lunch on a weekday. Both times it took more than 15 minutes just to check out. This is not only because they have few registers to begin with, but because they don't even use the ones they have available. When a line of more than half a dozen people forms, it would be nice if they would open another register if there is only one going. But they don't, at least not until almost everyone in line has been checked out and it's totally useless. What is that about? On one particular occasion, I waited in line for 20 minutes with at least a dozen other people as only one register was open conducting a return, and a price check, and a declined credit card. 10 minutes into that, they opened another register. 10 minutes later they finally opened a third. But what was truly baffling was that there was, what appeared to be a "store manager" standing at the front watching this happen doing NOTHING. Could he not have opened another register sooner, and run it himself if no one was around? It's not like he was "managing" anything by standing around looking at disgruntled customers. I just love it here! So many quaint and interesting things. They dont call it World Market for show. You can buy cooking items, food, decorations, furniture and many more from different countries - India, China, etc, etc. I got some nice rice steamers and some karhais in different sizes. There is a modest sized food section where you can get spices from Greece to China and British Tunnock chocolate wafer bars (a particular fav of mine). There are also an array of wine and beer selections from all over the world. Everytime I go back, I always find something new and cool. read more

I love this store. There's SO much to choose from. I usually come in for their smaller grocery section, but as far as furniture and decor goes it's all fairly priced and there is a lot of variety! One thing I can tell you is I've never come here and spent full price on anything. Their membership comes with some major perks! And by 'membership' I mean sign up with your phone number and email - simple. Doesn't cost you anything. I receive a couple emails a week - all of which have great deals, coupons, and events to watch out for (ex: wine tastings). Worst customer service ever, I guess customer service isn't a priority at this place. I went yesterday to get some soda that was buy one get one free when I was at the register they said I needed a price check, first the manager said that only the lemon was on sale I was taken the lemon and grapefruit flavor so I said I would just take the lemon. Ones the cashier scan the soda she said the price wasn't changing the manager came with another small sign that said 30 percent off and was never a sign with buy one get one free, my thing was then why did she say at first when she went to check that only the lemon was buy one get one free. My mom was with me and clearly saw the sign when I got the sodas she was very angry with the manager, I won't be going back nor my mom I guess it's Marshall's or Kirkland. This store is over priced but I would go because I enjoy the culture artifact. read more

Poor customer service and communication between employees. Justin was our cashier. Didn't seem to be able to coordinate having merchandise pulled up from stock room. Manger said they had rug rolled in back, when we asked to pull it no one was able to find it or contact the manger on lunch. Many sales people on floor who did not appear to be busy, but reluctant to help. Seemed to hope we'd disappear so they wouldn't have to help. At checkout, I asked for a bag for an item 3 times and than had to grab a bag and do it myself. read more

Good luck receiving any furniture when you before Christmas, even if you order it months before the holiday. I have been a customer of World Market for years, and I have many pieces from them but over the last 6 months they have been out of stock and even if you pay for the rain Check, everything has been waaaay behind. I am still waiting on a $899 bookshelf to come in that I ordered last Nov. When I call to check on it, they just say " sorry everythings behind." No offer to discount me or special gift card. I love World Market! When this location opened up a few years back I was never tempted to go but now I frequent this place about once a month! The only reason why I can't give World Market 5 stars is because some of the stuff here can be a bit pricey. They have a great wine selection and cool little nick nacks you don't see everyday. They also have a good selection of teas and coffees! I think my favorite section to browse through is the food section, they carry a lot of variety from many different countries. I've been a regular at this store for the past 6 years. About two weeks ago, I had a very pleasant experience. I did not ask her name, but it was a lady (she wore glasses) who helped me. She was very patient and helped me check an item that didn't have a price sticker. She was very courteous and patient and went out of her way to even put the items back when I decided I did not want them. She was very nice and I have been wanting to write a review since then.
