I always like coming to World Market because of all the cool and unique things they have that reminds me of my travels abroad. Especially in the food section since they have things here that can only be found at a World Market location. Its like traveling down memory lane and I find myself getting lost in my own nostalgia wanting to get one of everything. Good store if you want to explore things from other countries. read more

Friendly staff meets quality selection. I always think of the Cost Plus of my childhood, which was filled with wicker furniture and unique candy. And the candy aisle is still the best part. But don't miss the flavored sodas, or olives, or glassware, or the furniture. The clerk I had was incredibly friendly and nice. Well and soft spoken and a check-out conversation I actually enjoyed. I received AMAZING service at World Market today. Sadly I don't know the name of the woman that helped me -- but she was working on the sales floor and has very short (cute!) hair. I had a question about a table that was on sale -- and she spent 10 minutes brainstorming with me about how I could purchase this table and get it at the right time for my upcoming move. She was very knowledgeable -- and after all this, ended up calling me after I had left to let me know she had sent me an invite for their rewards program. I think they impress people through amazing service. I wanted to receive a free delivery by buying $500 and more dining furniture, and they provided amazing and flexible service during refunding and re-buying processes. They do work with customers, and I am glad to know the place. read more

I went there today for the first time because I'm German and miss home food and just found out that it's close where I live. The store is great like all the other World Market stores BUT when I checked out the cashier asked me to put my phone number in. And I just mentioned, I always do that but that I never get any emails or anything. He actually took the time to go to a computer with me to fix up my account and printed a 15% coupon for me, cause my birthday is in two days! That's customer service to me! Five Stars! read more

It's a rare day that I don't walk in here and not come out with an armful of tasty treats! We stopped by one time in early January and were pleased to discover that many of our favorite Christmas goodies were on sale. We found several boxes of the elusive pandoro on sale for only $5 (regularly priced at around $15). When we got to the register, each box was only $2.50. Talk about a pleasant surprise! read more

Only complaints are that its hard to find prices on half of the stuff in there... and for us, didn't receive the advertised discounted prices on a couple items. I specifically love this Cost Plus- not only because I live near it - but most recently because I called them to ask if they could hold some cardboard boxes for me to pick up for my upcoming move to another state. Not only did they hold lots of boxes for me to pick up, but they had them all collapsed and placed into one larger box. They even helped my boyfriend and I take them out to his truck on a dolly, and they did this all for free, and were enthusiastic about the boxes being re-used and helping us out. I can not speak highly enough of this Cost Plus! read more

Updating my rating of because they were responsive to my issues. Directly after writing this review, I forwarded it to World Market as a private message on Facebook. They expressed concern and told me they would escalate the issue. 3 days later I did receive the hardware I needed. So better rating, but my initial experience still stands. I'm pretty dissatisfied with World Market. My wife and I recently bought a dining room table from them. We found it online, went to the store and checked it out, and decided to order it online to be delivered (as my sedan isn't conducive to transporting dining tables). From the store, we were aware of the $75 dollar delivery fee. Not great, but figured it was worth it instead of renting/finding a truck and hauling it ourselves. But when I go to order it online, not only is there the $75 delivery fee, but also a $50 shipping & handling fee. Funny... I would have thought the $75 delivery fee would have had something to do with shipping & handling. Guess not. But part of this shipping & handling fee is their "white glove" delivery service. Which is not optional. What does "white glove" delivery entail? Apparently, not much. I'm fairly annoyed that my home delivery is going to cost me $125, but alright. I'm already this far into the purchase, so I go ahead and order it. Get a receipt saying it will be delivered between 1.5 and 2 weeks later. So, a week later I get an email in which I get to schedule my delivery appointment. Because I have to be home in order to receive the "white glove" service. I guess I'll be taking a day out of the office to get this table. Fine. I schedule it. Finally, the day arrives. I stay home from work to await my new dining room table. The delivery truck is finally outside my house. And from my living room window, I spend 15 minutes watching Laurel and Hardy try to get my table to my door. I don't know what was going on in that truck, but it shouldn't be that hard to get a large box out of a box truck. For some reason, they didn't use the lift attached to the truck. Maybe it didn't work. Maybe they didn't know how it worked (wouldn't be surprised). I'm not sure how many times the large, heavy, flatish box fell over in the street as they tried to figure out how to use a hand-truck to get it the 30 feet to my door. By the time they finally dropped it on my lawn and knocked on my door, the box was pretty jacked out of shape and beat up. To the point that when they said they're here to deliver my table, I looked at the box and said, "Is it in one piece?" To which, they assured me it was. And this is when I learned what "white glove" service is. Apparently it means, take the top out of the box and leave it in your living room, not on your porch in the box. No setup or assembly. Just, take the day off work to be home to open the door so that we can leave the deconstructed table on your living room floor, not your porch. That will be $50 please. Fine. Whatever. I'll put the table together myself this evening when I have the time. Now this is where my satisfaction with World Market goes completely down hill. After pulling all the components out of various boxes and assessing, I realize that I have been deprived of all of the necessary hardware to put the table together. I have a table top, legs, supports... just no screws or bolts or any other hardware. Pretty annoying. But I guess that can happen. My wife calls World Market customer support. After explaining the situation, she's told it will take 3-5 business days to... submit the request and get back to us. WTF??? It's going to take you a week to tell us if you can send us the hardware necessary to put your table together? That is the most asinine thing I've ever heard. I've got a 200 lb table top sitting on my living room floor and a bunch of random table parts scattered about. And it's going to take a week to tell me if you can even send me the hardware. Fine. Whatever. So, 5 business days later (a week, really), I finally get the long awaited email telling me if they can send my hardware. I'm in luck... they can! I should expect to receive it in 2-3 weeks. WTF??? It's a small package of bolts, screws and nuts. That should have been in the package to start with. It's going to take you 3 weeks to send me a few screws that you admit should have been there in the first place? So I'm going to have a 200 lb dining room table top on my living room floor, along with some random table parts strewn around, for a month? Because you can't get your s&%# together and send out some hardware when somebody tells you they need it? Any worthwhile company would overnight that package. I'm tempted to just figure out what I need, go to the hardware store, get it and put the table together without their hardware. And then never, ever order anything from this company with a joke of a customer service department ever again. On the plus side, the table top looks nice. Cost Plus has consistently been one of my favorite stores. You can find interesting food items and nice household items. I also really like the seasonal section because they have a nice selection of holiday items. Things tend to be pricier, but you can earn shopper rewards and get the World Market explorer coupons that lead to some good deals. One downside is I don't usually find good deals in the clearance section, i.e. the prices aren't marked down nearly enough considering the condition of the item when it might be missing a piece or not perfect. However, I still enjoy periodically shopping here when I'm looking for unique gifts. read more
