Closed at 8pm when it says 8:30pm on the door. Tsk tsk

They closed at 8pm when it clearly states 8:30pm on their door! Make sure to call before you show up here! I had ordered chicken for tomorrow was expecting to get it tonight but I guess they got sick of waiting for their actual closing time of 8:30pm

Only place in city where I can find mango paste to make lassi. Well-stocked. Staff a bit indifferent but that does not matter to me

There are hardly any pakistani restaurants in Denver, which is quite sad as Denver is missing out on some of the best cuisine in the world.

I've watched more than one car back into another trying to escape a space that was clearly designed for a smaller crowd than this place actually pulls in. If you're coming, budget an extra minute to ease out slowly and watch your mirrors. Once you're inside, though, it's a different story. This is where I go for halal ground beef, lamb, and chicken on a regular rotation, and the quality has never once let me down -- everything's fresh, well-trimmed, and clearly turned over fast enough that nothing sits. The market itself is easy to navigate, genuinely clean, no overwhelming meat-counter smell, no piped-in music competing with your thoughts -- just a well-organized space that gets out of your own way while you shop.

I was in Denver recently, visiting my family, and I saw this market as I was driving around. Having…read morebeen to several excellent Arab markets in the Dallas area, where I live, I thought I would take a look. I was quite impressed! Meats and cheeses were abundant at the counter; there was a good variety of typical Middle Eastern products and some products I had not seen before. Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. The place was crowded and I was one of the few people there who did not speak Arabic. That's a good sign! It means that Arash fulfills a cultural need. I'll be sure to go back to Arash when I next come to Denver.

That's the honest headline of this place: it's enormous, and it's stocked with sections for African, Indian, Jamaican, Japanese, Korean, and half a dozen other countries' pantries, and somehow the one basic thing I came in for wasn't on a shelf anywhere. I asked two different staff members if I was missing it, and both actually walked the aisle with me to check rather than just pointing and shrugging. No luck that day, but the effort mattered. Most of the packaging in here isn't in English, and if you're the type who needs to read every label before buying, budget extra time. But that's part of what makes it worth the trip -- this isn't a store dumbing itself down for anyone, it's a store built for the communities it actually serves, and the labels reflect that. If you get stuck, staff will come find the item with you instead of just gesturing toward an aisle number. Heads up walking past the seafood section: there's a real smell there, but it's the honest smell of fresh fish, not anything spoiled or off. If you've spent time in any proper seafood market, you'll recognize it immediately and it shouldn't put you off -- it's not a red flag, just a strong one. Prices are genuinely good for the volume and range of product you're getting, and the sheer scale of the place means you could shop here weekly and still find something new every time. It's a little chaotic in the best way -- more discovery than errand. Who it's for: anyone cooking outside the standard American grocery aisle, anyone who wants ingredients for a specific regional dish and is tired of substituting, and anyone who just likes wandering a store that clearly wasn't designed by committee. Go in with time to browse, not a tight list -- and maybe don't count on the mango puree. 4.5 stars, rounding to 4 -- knocked half a point for the miss on a pantry staple in a store this size, not for anything the staff did.

It's a little different how the store is organized. They have a section called 'international market' with among other things Mexican, Korean and Japanese food. He remarked how the entire store was international items which made me laugh. And the sauces we wanted were in there. We got our sauces and checked out. Not my preferred store layout hence I don't shop here often. But they do have a lot of options.

One of the metro area's newest Middle Eastern markets is in fact also one of the larger ones of its…read moretype locally. I'm of course referring to the stunning souk near Kennedy Golf Course called Mecca Market. Let's make a little trip of our own, and discover the wonders within. One thing that's always stood out to me about MM is its inventory of items representing North Africa. Have you ever wanted to make the flaky, delicious, and very messy Tunisian pastries known (in their singular form) as Brik? You can find the dough - or, more properly, Malsouka - to do just that, right here. Much-loved Moroccan sodas, such as the unexpectedly-yet-aptly-named tropical wonder Hawai, are also available in the market's bountiful beverage aisle. And of course, you can find plump, sun-sweet Deglet Nour dates from Algeria here too. Other memorable Maghrebi merchandise includes (but is not limited to) tempting tinned sardines, boxes of caramel pudding mix (reflecting the area's heavy French history), flavorful fig jam and even jumbo jars of spreadable chocolate/hazelnut paste (like Nutella, but even better). But this isn't the only region whose delights can be found within these walls - far from it! So let's peek a bit more closely to see what other crafty and clever curiosities await. One of my favorite desserts from the Middle East in fact goes by many names - Bamieh in Iran, Awameh in Syria, and Legimat in Sudan just to give a few examples. But no matter what you may call them, they're basically all sweetened donut puffs. And when I'm not feeling particularly inclined to go through all the steps of making them, I can just buy a box of premixed powder (readily available here at MM) and enjoy them in a fraction of the time. Of course, the more serious cooks among you can find plenty to please here too, from fresh grape leaves, to Halal (but of course!) meats, to saffron, Dibs al-Kharrub (carob molasses), and Kamoun Sufi ("woolly cumin", so named because of the thin fibers covering the seeds). And I have to devote just a bit of space to the snacks available here, like orange- and lemon-filled wafer cookies, paprika potato chips, and Cadbury chocolate bars. Yes, even after one visit I think you'll find that Mecca Market has things to appeal to all kinds of culinary voyagers.
