They sent me a bill saying my portion of the bill was $1000, which we paid in October 2025. My insurance company ended up paying that $1000 also, so they got paid twice for this amount. As soon as we realize this, we called them back with the our insurance company on the line. They told us that we would be reimbursed within two weeks. After two weeks went by, we had to call them back again with our insurance company on the line. This time they told us it would take 30 to 45 days. This has happened multiple times every 30 to 45 days. It is now March 2026 and we just got off the phone again with them yesterday. It's been six months and they can't reimburse us after being paid twice. We paid with a credit card. Any other business can reimburse you and fix that issue immediately. It is ridiculous that they can't reimburse us for double billing us immediately. They just told us we have to wait 30 to 45 days again.

They inaccurately document birth time on baby's permanent birth certificates. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink a drop, not even ice chips, for 24 hrs of labor contractions. How was being parched good for baby? Even after the baby was out nobody brought me anything. It was absolutely horrible, I'd never use this hospital again for prenatal care.

I must add that the coordination couldn't have gone better. They arranged a bed for her in the CCU and the Dr who would be doing her surgery spent time with me over the phone explaining what needed to be done & how it will work. From the time we boarded the ambulance to the recovery room I highly doubt it could have gone any smoother. She came out of the surgery, then recovery, and was immediately taken to the CCU. The poor sweetheart had lines upon lines, oxygen, etc. And when she woke, clearly upset. The nurse ( Karen) that is assigned to her has been so very kind, compassionate, and highly skilled. All the other caretakers have been wonderful. It's been 3 days and she's still in the CCU. But she's doing quite well, healing nicely with the excellent care she is getting. What started out as a frightening experience turned out to be a very positive one & I can't thank them enough.

Alexander was very dismissive when we let him know that we were upset for waiting nine hours for a 10 second conversation. literally waited 2 1/2 hours for him to come down and say you're all set. This is something he could've said to the registered nurse and she could've told us 2 1/2 hours previously. There is a huge amount of time, wasted on basically lack of communication . when we were ready to check out at 4 AM, the nurse that we were trying to get to check us out said she had other priorities and to be honest it seemed like she was creating things to do so she didn't have to take care of us right away. Her name tag was also conveniently flipped as she was giving us a very slightly snarky attitude. I understand an emergency room is an emergency room as we were reminded multiple times basically to tell us we shouldn't feel the way that we do. But at the end of the day you're still charging insurance and co-pays so you're still making money. There should still be some sort of customer service. in any situation, if given a choice. I would not choose umass
