I've come here a couple of times because it's the only cafe close to my grandparents house. This cafe is gorgeous, well decorated and cozy. The lady owner and her younger crew are nice enough, there isn't a whole lot of one-on-one experience with them as they continuously pump out coffees, milkshakes, soup and cake! The impression I got from my outings here suggested it was a pleasant half-way stop, where people simply walked in with their family during Fleurieu Peninsula travels. Now, I've had a fair few milkshakes in my time, but these are the most amazingly frosty and tasty milkshakes ever! They're not like your typical Wendy's teenager who will sparingly give just enough chocolate topping to stop it tasting like plain milk. Anyway, the food. We shared two servings of fresh scones with jam and cream, all of which was fantastic. The scones were freshly baked (still warm) and they weren't frugal on the amount of jam and cream either (big pet peeve of mine). There really isn't a lot in little old Yankalilla, but every time I visit my grandparents I want to go back! A big thumbs up for this little cafe!

This is an absolutely wonderful farmers market, which really does have the local farmers involved…read more You can pick up absolutely fresh fruit, veggies, beef, lamb, goat, yabbies, prawns, seafood, wines, baked goods, flowers and jams, right from the people that farm/grow/make them. The markets are held every Saturday, from 8.30am to 12.30pm - you can get a fresh coffee here, and there's a few places offering breakfast including some stunning gourmet bacon and egg rolls. A recent addition to the market has been a german meats stall, featuring the absolute best salami's and beer sticks, and the best kinder sticks (twiggy sticks) we've found anywhere. If I ran you through a mornings trip, it'd include a bacon and egg roll and a coffee, a selection of beautiful, big field mushrooms, a jar of spicy chutney or maybe a salsa, a huge bag full of farm fresh veggies, and half a bag of fruit, a fresh baked loaf of kalamata bread, a slice or two of cake and maybe a luscious lime tart. Loaded up with all of that, I'd still have change out of $40. The markets are my Saturday morning ritual when I'm at Victor - if you give it a try I'm pretty sure it'll become yours too. See you there! :)

It's not somewhere you'd do your weekly shop or even grab a hearty breakfast or lunch, but it does have a lovely selection of home made, home grown and bric a brac pulled out of peoples sheds and laid out onto tables. Prices are very cheap and you can find some lovely gifts or things for the home. I picked up 2 handmade soaps for $8, some chocolate port for $12 and a huge punnet of strawbs for $4. If you are dedicated enough you can pick up some interesting vintage finds like old shell casings, compasses, vases and the like for reasonable prices too. Or if you are so inclined, go early and get to the baked goods before they all sell out by 12pm. It's not Victor Harbour Farmers or Adelaide Hills Market quality but it is a little twee and a perfect way to spend a sunny Sunday in Goolwa amongst a friendly, laid back community!
