When I visited the North Ryde area near Macquarie University my main go to supermarket is Woolworths. Now being from the US many people would think this is related to once great discount store I grew up in the 70's and early 80's. This is no where near that as it is SOO much better.
Woolworths is one of two markets within Macquarie Center, the area's main "mall". Being from the US I never expected a supermarket inside their shopping mall but hey it makes sense. One stop shop for everything you may need. Though the market is no where as big as I am used to in NY it fits perfectly into the area. The produce and meats are very fresh tasting. The chicken and eggs come from free range farms and the snacks and chips were great helping me through the long hours. The nice feature they have here are that there are a lot more self service check out line and they are staffed with very helpful employees.
This and the overall cleanliness of the store makes it quite and enjoyable experience wandering up and down the aisles. If this type of market were states side I would certainly be a regular as I am here. read more
