There are actually two stations here: a DLR station and a National Rail station with southeastern services to locations in London like Cannon Street and to Kent. The DLR station is mid-block on Woolwich New Road, and the train station is on the corner with Vincent Road.
The area, far from being the stereotypical scary, is actually quite diverse, and is also gentrifying rapidly. That said, there are a number of late-night kebab and chicken shops as well as a huge Tesco for grocery shopping during the daytime.
