"i keep a note with me" -redveil; look at me sharing lunch note bars on 4 bar fri

i'd stopped at the park for a quick picnic dinner on the way home from dining on light fare at a nearby restaurant on brookside. coming from the south on peoria ave, i was pleased to see that the westside of the park along which i'd been walking was that which has the entrance, off peoria and woodward park dr before you get to peoria and 21st heading south, to the hill where our high school cross country team would run hill repeats. and though after dark is not an ideal time for picnicking or running hill repeats, especially the latter considering the lack of lighting on that specific hill, a few large rocks at the base of the hill absolutely sufficed for the picnicking on the light fare of dot honey mustard pretzels i was doing the other night. nonetheless, i've docked a star due to the large construction site at the park, although i'm willing to transfer the energy into providing a reason for a 4 star review to give as close to starpower as i can muster, so long as the park commissioner or leader of coordinating construction company can breakdown what renovations are in progress on an already beautiful, standout public city park ? and by the by, you can enter the park from 21st st at rockford ave, but just would need to drive a little further around the perimeter to reach an interior parking lot as opposed to driving up the hill off peoria and woodward park dr.

I just want to say it's a beautiful park. I haven't been there in 6 years and when I came back to it, it was just as beautiful as I remember. You should come here if you live in Tulsa.

Woodward Park is a great place to go for a walk in some greenery, and/or to enjoy a picnic out in Nature :-) Tip: In March you'll find tulips blooming here, and in April there are azaleas Next door, you'll find the Linnaeus Garden, which is a place to learn more about. Nature

*** Review is during Covid-19 *** Came here over the summer and realized I didn't write a review! Woodward Park is always a great space. I stayed more in the rose garden area the last time I was there. We actually went to go see the Linnaeus teaching area, but it was closed for the day. Not sure they were even open at the time/ still because of covid anyway. The butterfly garden in that area was so cool! Saw some monarchs, which are always so pretty, and some other kinds that I don't know the names of. And in the rose garden area I even saw some hummingbirds!!! I thought that was exciting... they can be easy to miss though, so if you're there in spring/ summer keep your eyes peeled! As far as Woodward Park as a whole, I always think it is maintained very well. There's lots of different areas to walk around/ explore, and plenty of space to spread out. It's also a great place to take pictures for different occasions, especially in spring when the flowers are most in bloom!

This was a beautiful spot for some additional time outdoors enjoying the fresh air and beauty of different flowers and plants. It has plenty of free parking and space to walk and enjoy nature. There is a rose garden, educational center, butterfly garden and more. It's nowhere near the scale of The Gathering Place; however, it still is spacious and worth a visit as it is more well-established (I can only imagine that some of these plants and trees have been there for decades).

Beautiful spot to take photos HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 5 Stars,

Highly recommend to Photographers! This is a beautiful spot for photography! This area is in the far back and it was worth the walk! PROM 2023 in the Books!

Always love the beautiful landscape. You can tell the park is truly cared for and maintained. It is always clean and is my favorite place to get family photos done or just have a picnic

LOVE THIS PARK! Does that count as a good enough review? No. It should. Reasons why I love it: 1) I can walk here from my house. Win. 2) It's so well taken care of that I want to hire everyone to come take care of my yard. 3) The tulips in the springtime are stunning. Go mid-morning or mid-afternoon to avoid the crowds. 4) Wide open spaces are a toddler's dream come true. Run forever. 5) Playground...meaning two sets of swings. Just enough for entertaining but not enough to take away from the ambiance of the park. 6) Herb garden. Just go to smell. It's heaven. 7) Bring a picnic lunch, a blanket, and your significant other and enjoy lunch hour outside. Squirrels will become your new besties.

A nice place to hang out or go for a nice, quiet walk! Blooming season already passed, so the flowers/roses were pretty much gone. I am sure during blooming season it is beautiful! Looks like a great place to meet up and just enjoy nature.

OK I'm jealous. Not only do I want access to this park all the time, but I want to see it in the Summer when all the flowers are in bloom! I was able to check this park out on a beautiful day in late February, when it was about 75 degrees. Is that normal here?! There were alot of people out and about, throwing frisbees, walking their dogs, enjoying picnics, and laying in hammocks. Tons of places to sit through the park. I also checked out the greenhouse behind the park. I'm not sure if that is part of it, or if it belongs to the gardening center back there, but it's free and you can stop by during certain hours. I have been pleasantly surprised by all the parks in the Tulsa area! I can't wait to check out a few more. Kudos to the mom and her two young kids that were picking up litter from the stream!

Nice park to take a walk and get away from the fast pace of the city. There are birds present at every season and some unusual migrants in fall and spring. They are continually changing plantings with the seasons. They recently removed decades old azaleas and replanted the corner of 21st and Peoria. There are many sites in the park that are popular for commercial photography. There are restrooms that I wouldn't go near for fear of weirdos. There are some nice sculptures and a Shakespeare monument.

Are there picnic tables at Woodward park?

*** Review is during Covid-19 ***…read more Going through pictures in my phone and realized I never posted this from when I went in the late summer! This is a nice place for a calm little stroll. There's no playground area or super large/ significant grassy areas to spread out for typical park activities, so it really is mostly for walking around. The main focus, then, is the fountain and pond. Then it's kind of little paths going around it. I really like how there are different levels, so you can be down closer to the pond or higher up. I also think it makes it that much more visually appealing. The paths and levels are made out of large brown stones which I think looks good. There's also some plants around - I think they are called cats tails? Don't quote me on that haha. There are a good amount of benches for sitting spread through the perimeter of the pond. There's also a deck sort of area nearer to the fountain. It looks nice, but could DEFINITELY use a clean up. There was quite a bit of trash, particularly near/ caught in the deck part. It wasn't a completely disgusting amount, but definitely noticeable. To be fair, while I was walking around a didn't see a SINGLE trash can. How can it stay clean when trash cans aren't provided?! This is the main reason for not being 5 stars. If it were cleaned up and then added some trash cans to prevent it getting so trashy again in the future, it'd be great! I saved my favorite thing for last: the view!!! The entire Tulsa skyline isn't visible, but you can see part of it, plus a highway bridge, which is a really cool backdrop in my opinion. Overall it's also cool that there's this semi-tucked away park (though not really the super grassy open kind as mentioned) in a more downtown/ urban area. In fact, it's just a walk across the street to some coffee shops, restaurants, etc.

There is a small playground for younger kids and a bigger one for older kids. It has a spongy waking surface made of recycled rubber, so it soften off possible falls.
