So stopped in here as we were looking for a dog friendly restaurant after a vet visit in the area. Super glad we did. The staff was exceptional, with even the one of the owners checking on us. My wife and I love good BBQ and had some of the best around the country. The ribs had a nice bite through while still being tender and juicy. The sliced brisket was moist and had a really nice smoke ring on it. They had three barbecue sauces on the table all mad in house 1) original a sweet and smoky bbq, 2) a mustard based sauce, and a pepper vinegar sauce all of which were very good. Now the sides were some of the best I have had in a long time. 1) roasted brussel sprouts in a maple glaze, 2) braised cabbage with bacon, 3) braised collards, and 4) Cajun fries. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. We will definitely be back on our next trip through. read more

We started with chipotle hummus and an order of the pork rinds. The pork rinds came out still popping. It was so yummy seasoned perfectly and pair with a sweet jalapeño dip. The hummus was topped with feta. I wished the pita was not so crunchy but it was still good. The main dishes were all great and the portions are large. We had the battered shrimp, burger, and chopped steak. The sides all were good. My favorite was the buttermilk fried okra and Brussels sprouts. Don't come if you're on a diet. It's hearty southern comfort style food that will leave you in a food coma. There were still other menu items I want to try. The most amazing lunch today at Woodstack BBQ Tavern! Fried pickles & double dipped wings started off the meal with a bang. Our main course consisted of a chipped brisket sandwich, pulled chicken sandwich, lemon pepper wings kids meal, & a Mac & cheese buffalo chicken wrap that was a daily special! The smoked chicken was cold, the collards were overly salted, and the biggest disappointment was the burnt ends -- they were mostly just chunks of fat rather than meat. Service was slow but friendly. After driving 400 miles from Florida on our way to Kentucky, we were craving Georgia BBQ. A charming hideout almost hidden off the highway welcomed my husband and I with the warmest hospitality and deliciously mouthwatering Southern goodness. We both ordered The Dirty South handheld, which was an enormous "muffuletta-style" sandwich that exudes incredible flavors. It was decked out with tender pulled pork, melted pimento cheese, thick sliced pickles and topped with a one-of-a-kind mustard sauce. Oh the sauces! I'm in search for the best bbq in Valdosta. It was my first time. I had pulled pork. I thought it was weird to pay extra for a bun. But hey. I ordered okra. It was whole fried okra. Usually okra is cut up and breaded. I have never had it whole. So it was different. And hard. I wish it would have been sliced and fried. It I just wasn't use to okra served that way. Only went there because Smoke N Pig was super crowded being Fathers Day, and Woodstack only had 3-4 cars in the parking lot... I found out why. Service was medicore. I ordered Burnt Ends (which was not even on the menu), and server did not know the price. Portion was disappointingly small. I don't know what cut of meat it was, but it was definitely not brisket... Tough and chewy, and drowned in store bought bbq sauce. They do not serve Baked Beans - WTF? Green beans were Italian beans straight from a can. Steak Fries were potato wedge fries.. Frozen from a bag. Son ordered a Hamburger, it was mediocre Daughter ordered a French Dip sandwich, but received their version of a Philly steak sandwich. She had to ask the server for Au Jus (because he had served her the wrong sandwich) I visited Woodstack a couple years ago, and had not returned because I was disappointed. My wife and I recently visited Woodstack and were left pretty underwhelmed. The service was great--can't fault the staff for being attentive--but the food was just okay. They've changed the menu since our last visit, which caught us off guard, and not in a good way. We ended up spending $65.00, but most of the food went to waste because it wasn't impressive. Nothing make a college football Saturday better than BBQ from the state of Georgia. Valdosta is a town blessed with more than one good BBQ joint. I saw high reviews for Woodstack so I had to try it out. I arrived as they opened on a Saturday and was immediately greeted and seated. There are TVs in the bar area that has some dining tables as well. I went with the 3 meat with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and potato salad. My rank of the meats would be pulled pork as #1, ribs, then brisket. The pulled pork was tender, mixed well with all the sauces, and had a soothing, smoky flavor to it. The ribs looked impressive and the presentation of these ribs were Wow! But I felt like they needed to be a little more gentle on the jaw. On the other hand, the brisket was too chewy. The mac and cheese had shells for the noodles and seemed to have more than one type of cheese mixed in. The potato salad is a solid mustard base but seemed like it needed to be whipped a little more. There was too much chunky, potato flavor. There are 6 sauces: white Alabama (have to ask request), original, sweet and spicy, North Carolina vinegar, Southern Mustard, and Carolina Mustard. My rank of the sauces are as follows with a brief description. 1. Original - solid, homemade tomato base with a hint of sweetness that went well with everything 2. Sweet and Spicy - like the original but spicier 3. Carolina Mustard - a mustard-base with a good mix of spices, I found I loved it the best with the ribs but it went well with the pork 4. Alabama White - Mayo-based like Bama white sauces - little sweet but strong on the horseradish 5. North Carolina Vinegar - vinegar base but needed more punch 6. Southern Mustard - similar to the North Carolina vinegar except with mustard added but also needed more punch Sweet tea was refreshingly, sweet! Overall, a solid BBQ joint. The presentation of the ribs would make anyone's mouth water but the pulled pork was better especially with the variety of sauces. read more

Woodstack is the perfect option for BBQ. During my stay in Tallahassee I made the stop here to pick up some BBQ. They have a quick and easy side door for pick up orders which made it simple. The spot is usually busy though so I did have to wait a little but it was worth it. I ended up getting their "Pick Two" option and their Fried Chicken Sunday Special. For their Pick Two option, I got brisket and ribs. The brisket was the star. It was flavored perfectly and very delicious. The ribs were okay. It didn't fall off the bone and wasn't good as the brisket but still very good. This also came with steak fries tater tots and complementary bread and pickles. The steak fries were seasoned and were very nice. The tots were nice and crispy on the outside and I enjoyed them. I didn't care for their complementary bread but the pickles are sooooo good! As for their Fried Chicken Sunday Special, I choose their dark meat option. On Sundays, they also had other fried chicken options, such as their white meat one. The meat I got was okay. It was good but not amazing. Oh and I also had some mac and cheese and coleslaw which were also okay. For sauces, I tried a few but my favorite one is their Alabama White Sauce. It is a really good creamy horseradish and mayo sauce. It had the right amount of spice and went well with all the meats I ordered. I highly recommend it. The Original sweet and spicy is also good but I wish it was a little more spicy. The food is super cheap. The vibe is barn yard style which I like. The people working here are very friendly and pleasant to talk to. I would definitely go back and recommend for BBQ. read more

Woodstack is a must if you want to eat really good BBQ! Not only is the food good, but the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant gives you the rustic and homely feel. We went there for lunch while visiting Valdosta and it did not disappoint. I had the Thunder Attack sandwich and it was huge! This bad boy filled me up. The pork and brisket was really juicy, the chicken was just lost in all the other meats...did not look for it, nor did I care because the brisket was perfectly tender and with some good fat on it along with the perfect pork. Onions, peppers and mushrooms were good add-ons. The toast that tied it all together perfectly buttered and toasted. I had potato salad as my side and it too was good. Final thoughts: if you have a decent appetite and you both pork, brisket and chicken...get the Thunder Attack...in-fact they said this was the most popular sandwich on the menu. One thing, wish I could've washed it down with a cold beer, but unfortunately, it was 1100 on a Sunday and apparently, county rules (maybe state or city) that alcohol isn't served during that time and day. read more

We had the chopped brisket dip - loads of meat on the bun with melted cheese & mushrooms, the side chosen was baked bean. Brisket was so tender & flavourful, baked beans had chunks of meat, sweet but not overly sweet. 1/2 baked chicken with 2 sides - that was the juiciest chicken with great smoked flavour in it. Sides were fried whole okra, the batter coating was very good, with a touch of coarse salt on it, crunchy on the outside, not slimy at all. The beast sandwich was very good too, ordered a loaded tater totes with pulled pork Brunswick stew was intriguing, do we ordered a large bowl, it was loaded with Lima beans & pulled pork & chicken with veggies.... Very tasty with a touch of vinegar taste. Have to say this is the real deal. Came here with my kids and grandbaby and loved it!! Casual diner atmosphere, checkerboard table cloths, plethora of bbq sauces and condiments . Service was spot on with good attentive servers and staff. We started with the great fried pickles the expanded out to multiple entrees and some IPAs from the bar. The beef tips sandwich was not your standard but I loved it. Chunks of meat, potatoes , veggies and white melted cheese , paired with Roasted Brussel sprouts and slow cooked turnips made my day. Chopped steak is something I would never order. If I want bad tasting Hamburger without a bun. The young lady could have been truthful. Just because she described it doesn't mean I ordered it. Came home and stuck it in the Fridge. Looked today and realized she ordered the wrong thing. called in advance to see if they would replace it and was told they would. there were others who were picking food up at the time and she even made sure their orders were correct. When ordering make them read what you ordered. She left the front before we finished the order to help another customer. She finished my order and Unfortunately I trusted she did it write. Never trust because there is her story and mine. Woodstock mears are disgusting. The vegetables are great. Service depending on who you are not good. They don't care that your a senior citizen. I only have wonderful things to say about this place! Anytime we are in Georgia we need to have some barbecue!! Exploring Valdosta/Lake Park area was no exception! You can smell the bbq from the parking lot and I am not complaining. The decor indoors is simple, typical bbq and fairly big. You can also sit outside! Service was excellent. Attentive and super sweet server. Their menu has so many options for starters so we choose a few and it fed 4 of us! We were stuffed! Their burnt ends were one of the most powerful pieces of meat I have ever put in my mouth! Cooked perfectly, tender and the sauce was amazing! They sell out so dont be disappointed if they dont have any when you arrive! Their brussels sprouts were outrageously good. The honey glazed over the lightly seasoned goodness was incredible. I literally scooped up every last mini piece! The fried eggplant was oh so yummy with hot sauce and ranch- what a perfect pairing! Lastly the fried green tomato homemade sauce was the best part of this dish. Creamy and paired well with the tomato. I wish I could say more about this menu but, only ordered apps. Mr. P and I were driving home from our Georgia Weekend and we wanted a Southern Style BBQ feast to end our trip. While I was driving he did the searching and came up with this place. We made the trip, just so you know, this is NOT just off the exit, it's 2 miles off 75, to the east at exit 22 for anyone making the journey. It's WORTH it. Also don't get confused as we almost did. It's not the PIGGY one. Go to Woodstack, the building is unassuming, but once inside, you're hit with the scent of meat and it's DELICIOUS. We were seated by our Hostess/Waitress, Katie, who was wonderfully pleasant and warm. She took our order for drinks and answered our questions about the food, and then let us look at the menu a bit before she came back with the drinks and took our actual order. We placed an order for fried pickles, both of us placing an order for the 2 meat combo, one with brisket and sausage, cole slaw and beans, the other with brisket and pulled pork, potato salad and side salad. Well let me tell you, that when Katie brought out a tray FULL of fried pickles, Mr. P and I looked at each other in disbelief because there was NO WAY we would be able to eat all that AND our food. GOOD LAWD! Seriously the portion size was huge and I'm not embellishing here, I took a picture and posted it. There was enough for 4 or 5 folks The meals too, were enormous! The sides were MORE than generous and the brisket... That brisket was to die for. A crispy, crunchy thin coating of the spices, that tender, juicy fat and the meat was so succulent. Talk about delectable. DAMN. Yeah, we had leftovers, I'm sure he enjoyed them the next day. This is now on our trip radar. When I travel to Georgia, this will be a MUST STOP destination. When you walk in there is a large chalkboard just to the right of the hostess stand that lists the daily specials and if they are out of "burnt ends" (it's the ends of the brisket and apparently it's really good, I didn't have them this time). Our waitress was Jessica and she was friendly, prompt and helpful when explaining the meal options. Like many other BBQ places this place offers a variety of meat choices like Brisket, pulled pork, chicken, sausage etc. I ordered the "pick any 3" to share with my husband. We selected the beef brisket (with an upcharge), the Ribs and the pulled pork. Our sides selections were Cole slaw and sweet potato French fries. Everything came out as expected. To drink, I selected the Watermelon Cucumber High. It was a delicious cocktail, sweet just like I like it. I had an allergy attack earlier in the day, so my taste buds were on MUTE. So my post isn't about the flavor of the food. Overall, this restaurant was what I expected, quaint, friendly staff and prompt service.
