Woodsound is absolutely top-tier. I've engineered my own projects here and have mixed and mastered records in these rooms, and the results speak for themselves. The acoustics are dialed in, the rooms sound incredible, and everything translates exactly how you want it to. We had a reservation for 6pm and the person opening the place showed up at 6:05pm. On top of that we got stopped mid song (with 10 minutes left) during our rehearsal to tell us there was another band coming right after us. I'm never coming back to Woodsound. read more

This is a great local studio that offers recording and rehearsals at prices better than Hollywood or Santa Monica. You get the same quality and no attitude. I recommend this place to new bands as well as established bands. it's also great for video production. read more

I sent a request to book a rehearsal room and received a response within a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the person didn't give me his/her name. But, I was able to confirm a date/time quite easily without having to pay a deposit. Based on my experience, it is easy to work with Woodsound and I will book rehearsal rooms there again. read more

How in the hell does this place have 4 stars??? This place is waaay too expensive for the state of the equipment available. The owner has NEVER been friendly the three times I've been here. The last time I visited with my band the owner cut our session short because he supposedly had to leave to the airport but still tried and charge us for a full two hours. We packed up and loitered in the parking lot for a solid 30 minutes after getting kicked out. Lo and behold, the owner is still there with his thumb up his ass, In no rush to go anywhere. The bass amp in the room we rented kept crackling and cutting out and the guy tried to charge us to use a working amp in a different room. Absolute bull****!! I only come here out of conveniene, desperation and a lack of closer studios in the area. Don't like coming to this place by choice. TLDR: Overpriced, shoddy equipment, poor customer service. read more

The sound here is great. Warning for drummers; bring cymbals, stands, hi-hat clutch and throne, at the very least. I was stuck with a piano throne that would rise and lower anytime I got up and no hi-hat clutch. Also, drummer stage is on the small size, leave large set up at home. You can rent cymbals but as a drummer, don't we have enough expenses? Not much of a grace period, when the clock strikes 12, we were forced to pack up (no one was waiting on the room). They even came in 5 min early to warn us time was almost up (not the same experience at most laid back studios). I'm giving this spot 4 stars for the sound, not my experience as a drummer. read more

Years back I used to go to 'Hot house' in Sante Fe Springs, that got far and inconvenient to get to. Then I found Woodsound studios, which is a lot better, it's great and local! I've been coming here for 2 years now. Tom is pretty cool and chill, he gets you situated & makes your session enjoyable to jam out. Room A is pretty awesome space to jam out in, great space & equipment. Some drum equipment needs upgrading in some rooms but just bring some extra drum stands or symbols, to your liking. The atmosphere is comfortable its private and the bathroom is clean. TOM is awesome he's so chill so easy to work with very understanding if you want reasonable prices please come here let me tell you he's got pretty much everything. I'm able to do my Recording with comfort. I will be purchasing my own recording equipment soon. However I will still be coming here to do recording because I love his coaching and his opinion means so much to me. I love the way Tom motivates you to do better. Attention ladies if you're looking to record come here he is super comfortable to be around he's pretty much a very honest man. I took one of my students here to rehearse/do a vocal lesson. Though I understand the bare minimum required for a rehearsal space, it seemed like a desert/no mans land and we had to walk around to find someone to help us and get us to our room. Once we got sorted, the person helping us was great and accommodating.(needing audio cords and help with equipment) The room was spacious yet also crowded with random instruments, chairs, stands, glass showcases. It was also quite dusty and everything seemed pretty outdated. I think this place would get more traffic if they did a clean sweep of updating it! read more

Woodsound is the S***! My band mates and I love coming here. The rooms are solid, the hours are cool and the sound is very controlled. The location is perfect, right in downtown Covina, easy to grab a beer before and after rehearsal. And the owner Tom is a righteous dude with very reasonable prices. He's always helping us out with what we need and treats us like family. Definitely recommend rehearsing here, it'll never disappoint you! read more

This place accused me of stealing a microphone stand. It was very well my own microphone stand. Don't come here unless you want to be accused of being a thief. P.S. I've got nothing but kudos for Tom (the owner) and Woodsound Studios in Covina. Woodsound's rooms are considerably bigger than you normally run across; and they come equipped with better gear for the same or less money than other places that come with nothing more than a mediocre P.A. and a funky smell. I've seen a Marshall 1/2 stack, a Hughes and Kettner tube combo, an @$$ kickin' Crate tube combo, Ampeg and Carvin bass amps, 2 nice new birch Yamaha Studio drum kits (plus one Rogers kit), no shortage of mics, stands, or cords, and more P.A. than you really need to rehearse with for like, $18 or $20/hr. That's a deal in my book. Studio A (the biggest room) even has an electronic keyboard and an upright acoustic piano in it- along with seating for about half a dozen groupies. I don't know what "Tyler E." and "Aneesh S." are talking about (I think they're one in the same, or at least describing the same session?); but take it from me: I've been involved in L.A.'s music scene for many years; and have worked at recording sessions at Capitol, Whitney Recorders, and other top drawer studios over the years (where fortunately, I wasn't paying the bill), and I've rehearsed in more of the local studios than I can count, and (especially at their prices). no one I've seen has really got anything on this place. While the offering of accompanying recording services is becoming more common nowadays at many studios, I haven't done so anywhere else yet, but I have done some tracking at Woodsound Studios in Covina a couple of times. Here's how it went: A couple of months ago, we did a couple of songs multitracked LIVE with drums (4 mics), bass (DI box + unmic'd amp live), keys (DI box), sax (mic'd), guitar (mic'd), and vocals (mic'd). We had everything come back at us mixed through the P.A. monitors just as if we on stage. Being live performances, excessive bleed wasn't an issue, but the ability to mix and/or EQ tracks to some extent was. It not only sounded really good fidelity-wise (96k, 24bit), but tracks were separated well enough to work with individually. Tom recorded through some nice outboard gear and (I believe) a 32 track console onto a hard drive using Nuendo- giving me the session tracks as .omf files on a thumb drive to play with later. I downloaded them from the thumb drive on to my 'puter; and they open and function flawlessly on my Windows PC whether I'm using SONAR, Cubase, Nuendo, or Pro Tools. Even if I had been inconvenienced by having to line them up or rename them later at home (which I didn't), considering the $25/hr fee , I wouldn't bitch about it like "Tyler E." felt he had to. That's only $5 more than just rehearsal time there goes for alone! As a matter of fact, I liked the experience well enough that I returned to add a live 3 piece horn section to a different song that was previously recorded at an expensive pro studio. It took only 2 hours from walking in cold, to setting up, getting levels, recording the tracks, and leaving. Tom didn't even charge me for the time it took him to save the tracks to an .omf and put them on a thumb drive. Two last things: #1. Tom is about as easy going a guy as you could expect to meet. I'll bet it wouldn't be hard to find the names of plenty of pro or semi-pro players who will agree with me. He used to book bands and run sound at Covina's "Rude Dog Bar & Grill for years. #2. Regarding the review by "Aneesh S.": How anyone could "make an artist do an electric guitar lead" against his will? LOL! What a weenie! I plan to continue to use Woodsound Studios, and have no problem recommending this place to others. read more

Woodsound Studios in Covina is a great rehearsal studio, they also record, mix and do video production. You can't beat their prices, and I have always been able to get whatever equipment I need by simply asking. I have shot music videos, used the green screen, had voice over recordings done for TV spots, all at this studio with great success, and a great final product. I have referred other AV professionals and producers to Woodsound Studios and they have all been very pleased with the results. They are a great studio for whatever you need done! read more
