The funerals I had attended from my former church were mostly by W W Holt. I would talk about and remember, in the past, how beautiful the deceased person(s) looked. They looked like they were resting. That's was over 20 years ago and I couldn't imagine how different things would be, especially preparing for my mom's funeral. We decided to have our mom cremated. Everything started off well. But when it came to viewing our mom's body before the home going, my family and I were heartbroken over how our mom looked. She didn't look herself, at all. She looked terrible. The funeral home did some touch up be it didn't help. The next part was the cremation. Evidently, I called the funeral home too many times just to follow up with the process. This is my love one who I loss. The funeral owner decided to scold me by telling me that the process had been explained to me over and over! I was taken aback by her this. This was unprofessional and insensitive. There's a lot more I can say, but I'm already tired from writing this review. To sum things up. I would not recommend W W Holt Funeral Home

Held my father's funeral at Kreuger Funeral Home and everything went as planned. They were…read moreaccommodating, communicative, and respectful of our wishes. We felt that the cost was reasonable and even though it's not the largest space, they were still able to accommodate everyone who came. They are a family business and they do everything they can to make the experience seamless. I liked that they helped create the tribute video and had a staff member making sure things were stocked and clean while we were there. It ended up snowing before we left and the owners cleaned off all the cars and made sure pathways were shoveled, that was a very kind gesture after a long day.

My father had a traditional military funeral with his casket decorated with U.S Marine medallions. The visitation, burial everything went smoothly with the help of all the staff at the Country Club Hills location. Leak Jr was very helpful, empathetic and professional. Last year in April my oldest sister passed and her service was a memorial because she was cremated. Her service was in Matteson and again the staff were 100% there for my family. I'm late posting this because unfortunately after burying family, grieving and trying to move on will have people neglect to show appreciation for making things easier. Today I left out of the grocery store and walked past Leak Jr and he spoke...I spoke and continued pushing my shopping cart and hesitated and called to him, he turned and I said "Thank you." He immediately said you're welcome and I just mentioned his funeral home was there for my father and sister. That last-minute communication was unfortunate. The woman working with us to collect payment kept referring to "the machine" that was telling her the amount due. The numbers were not adding up. There was a small amount of a difference, less than $5, between what we were told and what she was asking for. It wasn't a big deal, but it was disheartening that there was not an explanation for this difference regardless of the amount. Their facilities are beautiful and they are professional in their approach. I would like to see the business move to update their payment system to avoid the challenges we experienced.

The funeral home were able to transport his remains quickly from the hospital. A national holiday was approaching during this time so, communication got a little distant and confusing on times and locations to collect payment and fill out paperwork. However, after that portion was complete, things ran rather smoothly and his remains were returned on time for a memorial service. The service was very affordable for cremation.

On March 18, 2026, I met with Washington Memorial Gardens to discuss purchasing a headstone for my…read moremother. During that appointment, I was told I could not proceed with a purchase unless I had the photographs for the headstone at that time. Because of this, I asked another Washington Memorial employee whether I was allowed to purchase a headstone from an outside company. I was told that I could, and I was provided with the required size specifications and the fee that Washington Memorial would charge. Relying on that information, I purchased a headstone from an outside company on March 21, 2026. Beginning March 25, 2026, Washington Memorial Gardens has delayed the approval process. The first issue raised was the inclusion of my mother's middle initial. While her death certificate does not list a middle initial, her driver's license does. This discrepancy was used as a reason to delay approval. After weeks of ongoing delays, I was recently informed that Washington Memorial Gardens changed its policy effective April 21, 2026, and now requires all outside companies to complete a new application. This policy change occurred after I had already purchased the headstone and while the approval process was already underway. Applying new policies retroactively has caused unnecessary delays and added stress during an already difficult time. I acted in good faith based on the information provided to me by Washington Memorial Gardens and am requesting that my headstone be approved under the guidelines that were in place at the time of purchase.
