They also have a cafe and a lovely little shop to buy some springfields branded gifts in to take home! It really does make for a fun day out with the kids, and actually can be made to last all day without them getting bored, so well worth the entrance fee. Highly recommended!!!

A model railway exhibition and shop can be found in the building at the entrance and there are a number of good restaurants, you can even take a cream tea on the lavish Pullman railway carriage. Take a stroll through the gardens, a steam train ride, let the kids loose on the play areas. All are included in the price, with the exception of the crazy golf course. Overall an enjoyable day's outing and great value.

Its often quite busy in the summer, although Dawlish Warren offers good parking, so its easy to get to and is near the beach, is in town and there are various places to eat near by. There are quite a few rides outside, although as someone else mentioned beware of the road and kids. Im not sure of the opening times, but it opens quite late in the summer. Overall its quite good, with a fair choice of games to play.

I thought it was kind of charming - but perhaps not worth paying £12.00 a head for. The actual building is stunning from the outside and you cannot fault the views over the cove below. Inside the castle its been kitted out like a museum and is mostly home to toys, puppets, dolls and pier type animatronics and slot machines from yesteryear. Very interesting - but only enough to keep you occupied for an hour or so unles you are a fanatic. One whole room devoted to a large model railway- if you like that kind of thing. Also some grisly dungeons, and displays of old tools and farming appliances with some fairly educational information. Inside, and in fact then all the way around the park are amusement games and interactive displays which are made up from reconditioned old pier attractions. These are fascinating - but do be prepared with a ton of 1p- 10p coins to get them going - none of it is free! Outside there are a selection of childrens rides, again fairly traditional and slow paced - so more for the very young. Also there is gnome land which is bizarre, cute and disturbing in equal measures. There is a whole village of houses, pubs, etc,. where these gnomes live, and you can peer through the windows and observe them in their daily lives. Set in Woodland its very picturesque and mildly entertaining for adults - I am guessing young girls would enjoy this most. Hubby insists the gnomes were all models - but I am not sure!! Lots of traditional fun to be had also with crazy golf, a huge slide, and water fountains/ interactive displays. Not sure how you would fair in bad weather as most of the action was outside. If you prefer genteel and thought provoking rather than action-packed you may enjoy it here.

I found the prices fairly expensive as for a child over 14 years it is 12 pound so straight away that's 24 pound gone. My daughters got in for free so I suppose that was a good thing. My daughters favourite thing was when they were walking around part of the site where they had these little boxes where they had to press the button and when they did there favourite nursery rhymes played and little puppets inside moved. They were both racing to press the next one. They also enjoyed the water/light show I remember seeing this when I was younger. My favourite bit was watching them trying to find the golden nuggets amongst the sand. Other things that are at the site are: rides, tilting house for you to try and walk around in, old slot machines for you to play on, walk around the grounds, go through the gnome land and lots more, mini golf. Overall I would say this is a great place to go but I probably would only go there once a year.

The setting is an old estate and their are child oriented family outdoor activities set throughout the grounds, with something for all ages of kids, from toddler areas up to some fairly daring stuff for teens. There are assault courses throught the trees, zip slides, pirate ship in the lake, (bit stony-use beach shoes/crocks) wooden forts etc. It's all made of wood, and is a lovely, natural setting in woodland for an old fashioned fun family day out. Its the sort of place where kids feel they've done something a bit brave and builds confidence but is safe. There are also bookable activities such as canoeing, climbing and high ropes for the really adventurous.

But the thing that lost it 2 stars complately is the staff that run the cafe section.blatantly rude is a word I'd use, I may just have been in there on 2 particularilly bad days for them, but they grunted replies, didn't bother to tell me where any of the sauces etc were and basically just didn't seemt o want to be there or to help in anyway. There is ample parking. It's probably a better place for under 10s really. It's very safe - kids cannot run out the doors or anything so you can relax in the cafe type area and leave them to explore. The place, when we went a couple of years ago, needed a little bit of a cash injection but they were doing the best with what they've got to keep the tourist trade coming in. It's about a fiver for the kids in peak season and you have to pay a little bit for adults aswell which is not good, altough the car park was free so I suppose it evens out. They have alot crammed in there for the kids amusements and the kids would be in there and happy all day as long as you adults take enough reading material. Recommended for a rainy day or for a treat after dragging the kids round the Eden Project down the road.

I've taken my daughter to plenty of big zoos in the US: San Francisco, Oakland, and Oregon, to name a few. But none of those did I willingly want to go back to. Paignton Zoo is different. It's so pretty here, if I lived nearby, I'd want to revisit often. The setting is beautiful. We were lucky enough to get to feed Duchess the elephant and two of the giraffes (Tonda and Yoda) while we were there. Quite an experience for my daughter and one I'm sure she'll remember for quite some time. What memories are made for.
