It is not far from NYC and made for the most wonderful weekend trip ever -- I cannot recommend it highly enough. The accommodations are excellent and nothing compares to waking up and having breakfast on the porch. I'm sure most people would think of going with children, but I'm a 27 year old woman who went with my friends and we all seriously had the most fantastic time. Fun for all ages! In the month of October, they offer a haunted trail of approximately one mile, and a haunted house of approximately one barn. For some reason, they don't sell a combo ticket online and due to limits on how many you can buy in a transaction, may have to buy multiple. The haunted trail beings with being loaded into a cattle shute, where actors will occasionally try to scare those against the rails. The amount of people allowed released to the trail at a time did double as it became clear the line wasn't dying down. The spooky scenes are very well done, and the actors fantastic. They're spooky and committed to their roles. My only criticism is between the scenes it's really dark and hard to see what's on the forest floor below. The path is pretty clear, but one stray rock almost caused me to trip. That's when I decided to ignore the no cell phone request and put the light to the floor below me. (Maybe some discount Halloween lights or glowing pumpkins to light the way?)

The horses are very well maintained and cared for and I will definitely be back and even if it's your first time this is the place to go.

I also enjoyed looking at the view of the bridge which is visible next to the Nature Center, shown in one of the pictures I added. This is a beautiful park where there is an incredible amount of biodiversity, probably because it is so close to the water. It is very humid because of the water, be aware of that and there are many bugs. There are signs everywhere explaining to not harm any of the wildlife or take anything. We booked an hour ($32 per person per hour) which got us our own lane with two targets, two tomahawks and two hatchets, and "axe master" Alexis who showed us how everything worked and gave us tips on how to throw better. You can also pay extra to throw a wide assortment of gnarley, medieval looking weapons like spears and daggers and such. I spent a good chunk of time aiming for the blue dot "kill shot" and finally succeeded with just a few minutes left in the session. This got me the right to write my name in a blue sticker and spin the prize wheel and I got a Bury the Hatchet coozie to take home with me. This location is BYO (both food and alcohol - but no liquor) and they have tables where you can set up food and drinks. Kids are allowed but minimum age is 10.
