My dog recently got neutered here and the experience troubling. If you're looking for a facility where everyone is nice, patient and friendly, this isn't the place for you.There are two lady who I typically speak to at the front desk. One is a sweet lady and the other lady has always been rude. I called the day before and the day of my dogs appointment. The lady seemed irritated when I was asking her questions about the process. She was extremely rude and definitely not someone who I would want my dog around. My mom called as well and she was rude to my mom. I want to be able to feel comfortable dropping my dog off. Due to the rude lady at the front this has been an unforgettable experience. Also, I've never been to a doctors officer where they don't follow up with the patient a few days after getting services. Not once did they call to see how my puppy was doing. This isn't a caring facility. Take your pet somewhere else. read more

Prices are very reasonable and the staff is very kind to my dogs. We've been here many times over the past year for various reasons and they have always solved problems and made time for emergencies. I wish I did not even have to give this business one star. My dog needed to be seen and I had to work as I am a teacher. I had a friend take my dog to the vet who was well aware that the vet is not my dog's favorite place. The older vet told her that the owner should be here for a dog "like him", that he is vicious and needed to be muzzled (he was never muzzled), and when my friend was trying to calm my dog down, the vet told her, " You should not be calling him a good boy when he is growling at me. I was informed a couple days prior that my dogs doctor was no longer with the practice. My dog saw Barry Adler who was terrible. He did not want to answer any questions, he told us straight out they were busy and he did not have time to debate, when we were only asking questions about different medications and what we heard about them. Showed up on time for our 11am appt and waited about 10 minutes and then was taken in the exam room and the vet didn't come in until a little after 1130 . Then our vet came and she was more terrified of our cat then the cat was of her . She even has another lady come in for back up to hold the cat down and when she decided to tell us the cat needed to get an X-ray she said we would have to come back another time as they closed at 12 . It was ridiculous they we waited so long and our cat who had a bag cough couldn't get diagnosed the first visit therefore she suffered through another whole car ride again. We went back to the vet today for our 2 dogs check up. I was anxious after the last experience a while ago with Dr Adler Sr. Today we met Dr Ayres who we will now request for every visit. She took the time to explain to us her concerns with our Lab's eye and a growth on old older dog's foot. She was practical and didn't order a bunch of tests that would stress our older dog out. Instead we will try some new meds and see how he does. Then if we exhaust all efforts we can order tests and perform surgery. My husband and I were extremely impressed with her. read more

They have no manners. I am a healthcare provider and the way they speak to me is extremely unacceptable. Go to Redbank Veterinary Hospital. They are professional, treat you with respect, and don't give attitude. Shame on me for giving them the benefit of the doubt. 1 star for having his daughter (also a vet) who does show compassion and empathy. If you read other negative reviews who went through what I went through, its based on the same people: Dr. Adler and the same rude front desk woman. They gave my sick cat an appointment as a new patient the same day I called, took her in quickly, and the Dr. provided an excellent overview of the diagnosis. A few procedures and course of treatment were explained to me, and the doctor and staff took her in, and we were on our way home soon after. Medicine was explained by the staff and everyone was very efficient and polite. The prices are also very fair, but you can't put a price on this type of care. The personalized care here is the most important part of using any type of doctor, and it is outstanding. Your pet is not just a number, and you can't get that anywhere else around here. I took my little girl in for a check up. I'm traveling with her and wanted to make sure she is in good heath before I fly with her. I saw the owner DR Adler. I've been going to this vet for years and usually see his son, who is wonderful. Today was a horrible experience, his bedside manner was so horrible, he scolded me and tried to bully me into getting services that I was not comfortable getting at this time. He told that if I didn't get it I was a bad pet owner. He was so rude and I was so taken back that I left thinking what did I do to deserve the way I was treated. Was just there with my Staffy. The owner (Dr. Adler) saw him while we waited in the lobby. When we went into room 1, an assistant walked halfway in the door and dropped a muzzle on the counter for me to put on my dog. Somehow, the doctor expected the muzzle to "calm" my dog who is never muzzled? Doctor also walked halfway in the room and when my dog attempted to bark and pull, you know, how dogs do, he yelled that he should be tranquilized. I chuckled assuming that it was a joke as I totally had him under control, he then said, "it's not funny". I explained calmly that all the other vets, including him had seen Papo before with no issue but that perhaps I'd be better off taking him somewhere else, he very quickly agreed and said "that's a good idea". He then yelled to make sure I didn't "steal" his muzzle. Really? I am very disappointed and appalled at the same time. Time to find another vet. read more

I truly don't get any of these bad reviews. My 20 lb dog has not been to a vet or groomer in 4 years. The reason is he won't let Us or Anyone pick him up, or handle him to even cut his nails. Our last visit was at a groomer where they called me to pick him up because he was trying to bite them when they tried to remove him from a cage. I just kind of resigned myself to the fact that he's never going to get his shots again and his nails are going to grow a foot long etc etc. Over the years I've bought muzzles that went in the garbage because he would never let me put it on him. So I got a reminder email from Woodbridge telling me he needed his rabies shot. I thought about it and now that he's six, I knew I really needed to attempt this again. He also had what I thought was a tick on his head that he wouldn't let me get near. I made the appt and explained my situation. I got an email back right away telling me not to worry, and that they had muzzles and that it wasn't a problem. They assured me they would do everything possible. I wasn't convinced and braced myself for a disastrous visit. I got many reminder texts leading up to the appt, reminding me of the impending doomsday lol On my way to the appt I was super nervous. I kept picturing my dog going defcon 5 trying to bite everyone and them asking me to leave and putting a big red X in his file lol . We entered the waiting room and he started to get nervous. After a short wait, a young doctor, Dr Sam Adler came in with a tech. They brought a muzzle and a towel. I was able to scoop him up and put him on the table. Normally he won't let me pick him up but he was scared so he let me. On the table they securely wrapped him in the towel and he was able to secure the muzzle with no issues. I was fascinated lol The doctor kept the situation very calm and controlled and I was surprised we got this far with no attempts at biting. They lifted him with no incidents and whisked him off. About 8 nail biting minutes later, he was returned to the room. He appeared fine! They told me everything went fine. I said really?! They said yes, the muzzle fell off but he was good and let them give the shot and cut his nails. What?! Now let me just say, I can't even touch his paws without him giving me a warning growl. I am shocked it went so well! I am sure it was because of the kind and calming nature of Dr. Adler. This is such a Huge relief because now that my dog is getting older I know that I can bring him here. Ask for Dr Sam Adler. (I could be wrong but I think he's the owner's son) I could not be happier! read more

I've been to the Woodbridge Veterinary Group twice, and plan to continue using them as my main veterinary provider. The doctors are all friendly and attentive, the front desk staff is helpful with paperwork and scheduling appointments, and the location is convenient - right in the center of Woodbridge off a major street. They do have an at-home visiting vet as well, for senior or scared pets. I haven't used this service but met the vet and she was friendly. I'm not sure how prices compare to other vets, but for 2 cats a general check up with 2 shots cost around $250. I do not have pet insurance. I really love the staff here - they take their time in explaining different diseases and treatment options, they answer all questions and don't rush you out the door. They also handle the pets with care and compassion, and they really put their health above everything else. The office is open and you will interact with other animals, including the birds and some fish/reptiles that remain in the office full time. read more

Never using this practice again...we've experienced great care from the Adler family but tonight in our time of need when a beloved cat needed help crossing the rainbow bridge we were treated with the utmost disrespect and callous behavior. After having us wait with the poor kitty in distress for a half hour in the exam room they proceeded to ignore why we were there for without any expression of condolences the Vet Joseph Papetti proceeded to examine her which is fine but he then made it clear that we haven't done anything for our cat in years...not true my wife simply took the kitty to her old Vet instead...then he snapped how this exam will cost extra and needs to be paid that night, as if we don't pay before leaving. I did not like his unsettling attitude that made my wife cry as we're both already emotional at the thought of losing a beloved part of our family. I asked if there were any other doctors available. He still remained hostile so I let my emotions get to me and cursed at him. Rather than step up and try to help us through this he began yelling at us. He threatened to call the police, over what I have no idea but we wanted out of there immediately. With my wife torn up and upset and with me certainly not in the mood for his unacceptable behavior we left and thankfully found an incredibly sympathetic and understanding vet nearby. The Woodbridge Veterinarian practice will never treat another of our family. However the Garden State Veterinarian Clinic on Route 27 gets our recommendation. read more

I wish I could pick no stars. We brought our dachshund mix in today because we suspected he had kennel cough. Saw Barry Adler and it was by far the worst experience we have ever had. Our dog is a barker. He barks for everything and is also a year and a half and very curious. He told us our dog was too aggressive and should be put down!! He went on and on about how we are horrible people for having him and he shouldn't be alive. He threw a muzzle at us and demanded to put it on him which stressed our dog out even more. He told us he would never see him again and if he would have known how he was he wouldn't have taken the appt. This man is a vet!! This is one of the best vets I've ever been to. I brought my 15 year old cat here when I discovered he had a tumor. When I called in a panic, the receptionist was so kind and gave me a same day appointment. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr Adler who is a gem; without a doubt one of the most caring vets I've ever met. The girls at the front are dynamite also. Fast, efficient with great personalities. Very disappointing. Took my dog to see Dr. Barry Adler due to he was in pain because he has arthritis . Dr Adler refused to treat him today because as he says the dog growled . It's obvious the dog gonna growl he's in pain . Not to mention that he has treated him before and I always have a muzzle. I bough my puppy to be seen by the vet due to some eye issue he looked at it and said there was nothing wrong he was not nice he also said he had many years of experience and that he was the vet not me. Charge me 65.00 and was not nice at all no bedside manners. I will never go there again. Our cat was a patient for three years. At first we were very happy with his care and the overall service. However it became clear that he was a special case. The vets at Woodbridge may be good doctors but they are not specialists. Our cat's seeming resistance to methimazole (a medicine to control hyperthyroidism, a common condition in cats) was of more of a concern than we realized. We trusted the Woodbridge vets to help him, and if they couldn't, to tell us that we should seek a second opinion. There is no shame in that. Sadly the underlying problem presented itself too late. Two days after a visit to Woodbridge, in which the doctor dismissed our concerns about our cat's constant purring, we rushed our cat to the emergency vet (North Jersey Emergency Vet Service) in respiratory distress. An xray showed he had a collapsed lung and fluid in his chest cavity. We were referred to the specialists at Oradell Animal Hospital. The cardiologist did an EKG and discovered that our cat had advanced heart disease. Surgery to repair his collapsed lung was not an option. With broken hearts we made the impossible decision to end his suffering and he passed away in our arms. To add insult to injury: about a month after our cat's death, we received an automated reminder for the next blood test from Woodbridge. When we called them about it - giving the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they hadn't received the final report from Oradell - the receptionist got defensive and testy with us. We don't wish any ill upon the vets at Woodbridge, however we wish that they would have advised us to seek specialized care sooner. Nothing can bring our wonderful kitty back to us, but if we can help other pet parents avoid this kind of heartbreak then maybe he won't have died in vain. For routine visits, they are fine doctors. For difficult or specialized cases, get a second opinion. read more

I've been using this vet since I got my dog as a puppy. I have seen many of the doctors and my favorite is Dr Fink. I got him confused with Dr. Adler and made an appointment with the wrong doctor. The visit wasn't horrible but the wait was almost and hour and my dog was getting very antsy. When I saw Dr. Adler he got a little snippy with me when I was telling him about my dog's ear. He said if you request me you need to let me do my job. I thought that he was being a little condescending. After that I just kind of let him do his thing. He was good with my dog and gave him a thorough exam. Dr. Adler just has a way about him that may turn people off, but I believe he is a good vet. I would recommend this vet. They have always taken good care of my dog. The front desk ladies are always pleasant and fit me in for last minute small emergencies. read more

As a result, after a lot of $ spent, multiple visits and exams, I still can't get the doctors to return my calls or provide a clear diagnostic. Even after appointments in which I was asked to provide an update on my pet, my calls were never returned. No one cares.... This is truly the worst vet office there is. A consistently rude staff that has taken me far too long to leave. Today was the final straw when I brought my cat in to be neutered. This appointment was confirmed by an actual receptionist who called, and texted multiple times prior to confirm his appointment today, and NONE of those times we were told he would have to stay over night after surgery until we showed up at the office today. And the extremely rude women of course said "we always tell you this when we confirm." Listen to me when I state this, we were not told ONCE prior to today until Dr. McDonald mentioned it at drop off. Do not lie to me to protect yourself. If I knew this information prior with how obviously not okay I was with it, why would I have continued with the appointment and showed up today? And not only were they going to keep him over night for a simple neuter, they had the audacity to have us sign paperwork stating HE WOULD BE LEFT ALONE WITH NO STAFF during the entire night because the building is NOT STAFFED AT NIGHT. I'm not even joking, this actually happened. So you're telling me I can't even bring my cat home where he is supervised, he MUST remain there over night with literally zero people in the building? Are you people insane? What if there was a PROBLEM? No one would be there until the morning to see. That's sickening. I will be moving my pets to a new vet that cares. And guess what? It took me 5 minutes to do that, and when I told them what just happened at this office they were appalled. And guess what else?
