Even though it's been my first karate training, I can tell the vibe of the whole place is so much less commercial than a lot of the martial arts places I was looking at before I selected SKA. And SKA is a nonprofit, so the price is leaps and bounds better than other martial arts schools you'll find (I did research on that, too!). The people at our Foothill dojo are friendly and we sometimes have get-togethers outside of class/outside of karate events. Our instructor Enrique is fantastic, and our other seniors are extremely helpful too. It's a wonderful place to train! There's also more to enjoy that's unique about SKA: their twice-yearly special training events (optional but highly recommended), and the beautiful dojo down in the hills of Santa Barbara built by SKA's founder.
