I hired Larry West from West and Co. Painting, LLC to seal and prep my walls for painting. Larry…read morewas fired from the job prematurely due to becoming irate and aggressive towards me over a difference in opinion regarding the quality of the work his team did. During consultation we had discussed texturing the walls to cover any blemishes left from the wallpaper under the sealant (e.g., seems, tears in the wallpaper). Larry assured me that he and his team were competent in applying texture and had been doing so for two plus decades. When I came to the house to inspect the work, I found this assurance to be untrue. The texture had been applied inconsistently throughout the home. I had asked Larry to only apply a light layer of texture, as I did not want it thick on the walls. This was not what was done. In some places the texture was incredibly thick, so much so if you brushed up against the walls you were jabbed by it and in some places, it was incredibly thin. In some places on the walls the spray of the texture was so spread it looked as if the wall was dotted and in other places the spray of the texture was so tight that when the workers scraped it giant smooth patches were left behind. Furthermore, there were some places on the walls completely missing texture. In addition to the very poor texturizing job, the wallpaper that was intended to be sealed had not been prepped properly and as a result was peeling away from the walls in places. I had asked Larry to meet me at the property before any work continued because I wanted to walk through the house and point out the areas I was concerned with. When I met with Larry it was very clear he had no intention of listening to any of my concerns. Throughout the entire meeting Larry repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me, and yelled at me, saying "I can see how you might be confused considering you don't know what you're talking about", and "you are a first-time homeowner, how would you know." I told him my concerns about the texture and stated I wanted it sanded off the walls. His response was to add more texture, even though I explicitly told him that that was not what I wanted. Larry, refusing to acknowledge any of the legitimate concerns I had about the quality of the work, demanded I pay him more money to remove the texture. When I informed him that I would not be paying him any more money, he began to yell so irately is face grew red. Larry became so aggressive at one point his workers had to prompt him to step outside of the house to cool down. When I informed Larry that his unprofessional behavior would not be permitted, and he and his team needed to leave he then resorted to intimidation tactics where he picked up my ladder and slammed to the ground while continuing to yell at me. I demanded Larry leave my property multiple times because he was acting so aggressively towards me. I truly believe if I was someone his own size he would not have talk to me in such an irate and aggressive way, but he knew that he was bigger than me and could get away with trying to intimidate me. As Larry stormed off my property, he made verbal threats to sue me and take me to court. Aside from the fact the quality of work was poor, Larry created a very hostile and unsafe environment for me in my own home. Considering the experience I had, I would never recommend him to anybody whose safety I cared about. There are so many other people in Wichita who offer the same services and I would strongly recommend you consider working with them before hiring Larry West and Co. Painting LLC.
