This is one of those places that relies on returning customers and word-of-mouth, which is why they're one of those local suppliers that have a real focus on customer service (see my Gibson's Butchers and Direct Furniture reviews). For being a small independent retailer, they seem to be able to keep their prices quite reasonable. I was just in to get a mat, but they have carousels of carpet samples as well as different types of wooden flooring on display, and they have another area for floor and wall tiles. Within 2 days this company managed to let me down 4 times, I tried to call but the company closed at 5pm.

We popped in on Saturday morning having previously purchased our bathroom floor from these guys. We were looking for a replacement floor and the owner remembered the exact floor that we had. Unfortunately they no longer stocked our floor but we were taken through various options. For floor and fitting it only costs £40 (5ft x 7ft) which is reasonably cheap in comparison to other stores. They have loads of different designs of carpet including specific children's carpets and synthetic grass for outside areas. The staff in here are old school so don't be afraid to barter with them!

Upon request they will come round, have a look at the room and give a very fair quote. Their carpet's are also competitively priced to keep up with the larger chain stores. The quality of the work is second to none, it's a family run business and they take pride in what they do. You don't necessarily need to purchase one of their carpets in order to avail of their fitting services. They are also more than happy to fit any carpet that you purchased elsewhere.

I personally prefer Dunelm Mill but I was in the centre of town and couldn't have been bothered traveling about the place. I don't think I will go in again for anything other than a definite item as I just felt a little overwhelmed at all the stuff but the lack of help.

I was fortunate enough to be in the shop during sale time, and was even more fortunate to find a blue and white barcode striped duvet cover for half price...£10 ("how do you do it?" is a frequent question asked by my mum). That usual jubilation that suddenly overcomes me the moment I find a bargain eluded me for once. I *had* to phone my mum and dad to ensure that my find was genuine and the bargain was good enough to warrant a purchase. A five minute phonecall later, and we established that this was the case. Phew. A year later, and my blue and white striped duvet cover is still perfectly intact, currently taking pride of place on my bed. Having had such a wonderful experience, when I went back this year to a newly refurbished Spinning Wheel, I was slightly disheartened to find no duvet covers on the bottom floor, despite the fact that this was indicated on the wall. Once through the doors you are greeted by a rainbow of colours, shapes and textures. A bit of a maze, with 3 massive floors there is loads to see and perhaps buy. I say perhaps as it is a good bit more expensive than the chain retailers, but what they do have is quality. If you are just looking to add a hint of style head towards the back of the ground floor where you will find all manner of trendy accessories to funk up the dullest living room at more reasonable prices. There was some cracking statues, which I really would have bought if the other half hadn't dragged me out. My VISA card thanks him.

I needed one extra pack of wood to finish a job and I was in a hurry, as usual, and while I loved the service, I thought I was going to have a stroke as it took almost half an hour and I was their only customer. Anyone who has ever been in Carpet World will know the gentleman who works there who is quite well advanced in years, and I don't think he will mind me saying that he must be at least 70. He is the lovliest, most polite and helpful person I have been served by in years. The kind of man you would like as your grandad. He dilligently looked up the reference number for me, phoned the manufacturers and took my payment, and wrote everything down in his beautiful old fashioned hand writing. All the while, he was telling me about his new kitchen cabinets and the sweet pea he has just planted around his front door. I could almost smell them. And do you know what? For the first ten minutes I did indeed feel like I was going to have a stroke through sheer impatience, but then I just let it go and I had the nicest chat with this man. I can't wait until I go back to collect my wood. Oh, and it was only £35 for what I needed. What a great experience.

There is decent parking out front which is handy because it's based on the very busy artery of the Shore Road, which can get chocablock at peak times. They have SO many choices of tiles here, the mind simply boggles. It was hard enough having to pick a colour, then a style, then a material before we had left the house, then when we were confronted with the sheer amount of choice in this place it left us a little shell-shocked. But never fear, the helpful staff member was at our side and guided us through the choices - my Mother in law was a happy camper.

The guy in the warehouse (different guy to the one that loaded them into the car who apparently was the supervisor) told us that this happens all the time with the supervisor - why do they keep him? Time went by as it does in our busy lifestyles, out of the return window. Tried to return for credit note to buy three of the correct size (£65.00 each). Very unfriendly manageress right out refused. I had £300 in my pocket that day to buy the three blinds and purchase a couple of other things for around the house from Dunelm......nope, not to be. I took my £300 and unreturnable blind (will end up using on another window) to Harry Corry's........and spent every penny there!

It is a…read morebit of a pain that it's all mainly flat pack stuff but they do offer both delivery and assembly services which are super. I enjoy an occasional wander around this giant store and really like the simple Swedish design of the furniture. IKEA overall has relatively good environmental credentials with all stores being energy efficient and products produced as sustainably as can be. I have some IKEA shelving I've had for years and plan to keep forever as it's strong and sturdy. The IKEA cafe is also economical and offers some good vegetarian options.
