STAY AWAY! Manager was very rude, they forgot some orders so people were eating at different times or not at all. Staff didn't speak English and when serving the dish they didn't know what it was. Worst experience ever at a restaurant, will not go back and will not recommend. manager made a very big song and dance raising his voice and talking down to us when was told we are not paying for a service we didn't have. he started shouting at us telling us we are rude and out of order where we hadn't even had all the mains we ordered. read more

Food was good, not exceptional. Service was fast. However, if you do go to visit Wong Ting, make sure you are very careful that the waiter gets everything down absolutely perfectly. We were wrongly brought the 'main meal' version of an appetiser, and charged about 3 times as much... we did not realise this until the cheque arrived, at which point the waiter refused to acknowledge that he had made a mistake that we ended up paying for. My friend and I spent a few days in Sheffield and our Air BnB host recommended this place for Dim Sum. He deemed it as the best dim sum restaurant in town and that the chef hails from Hong Kong, Perhaps this is the best Dim Sum in Sheffield but the quality standard is far from perfect. I found the shrimp rice noodle roll too thick and the prawn dumplings too starchy. The service was basic. We had to chase the waiters several times to add tea. It's odd that a dim sum restaurant would not ask us what type of tea we'd like. Different standards in Sheffield, or, just not that great? You decide. read more

Dont even know where to begin. We went to this restaurant today (Me, husband and my 3 yr old daughter). 1st I went to ask if they have a table available to which they said it will be half an hour waiting and I said thats fine, can you please book a table for us from next half an hour (it would be 7) and then I went downstairs. I came back upstairs and he said it will be half an hour (if should have been 10 mins as I cam back after 20 mins). They gave tables to other people who came after us but not to us. We waited half an hour and asked about 3 waiters that we are ready to order but no one wanted to take the order. Finally after ordering to one of most rude staff, we waited for our starters however they came out quickly but only 2 of them (out of 3), we had to remind them to get the 3rd starter. Then we had to remind them for the main course a few times and most of the staff just ignores you there as if you are not talking sense. There was a problem at another table as they were complaining about the food and service so all the staff got busy there. Eventually food came out, average at best and of course over priced. There is no children's menu so you have to order a big meal for kids. Then after eating a bit (because by then we were frustrated and wanted to get out), we went to the till to make a payment. Bill was incorrect and there were a few alcoholic drinks on the bill which we did not order and the prices of the food were incorrect. When I questioned about it, they were adamant that the prices are correct and I had to show them on the menu. For drinks I had to prove somehow that it was not us who ordered the drinks (most bizarre). They went to our table to check the glasses. Staff at the till had to get 3 tries to correct the bill. When the manager / owner came to the till, I just politely said that you guys need to do something about the customer service to which he snapped and aid I dont want to argue with you and I dont need your opinion. Other table was being an idiot so I dont need it from you too. I was absolutely shocked at this reaction. He was just so rude and ill mannered. If you enjoy being ill treated, this place is definitely for you else dont even bother. !!! read more

Great Chinese :) This is table service all you can eat, for £15 a head I don't think much can be expected. The food is lovely and the drinks prices good. Service isn't fab but not terrible. Good for a cheap meal with friends They serve John Smiths too! read more

Cracking not so little Chinese restaurant! In the middle of Sheffield just of the Moor sits Wong Ting. It's not the most modern or classy place to eat, but the food is lovely and the staff are friendly. Unlike traditional all you can eat Chinese restaurants, the food is made to order and delivered to your table. No greasy spoons hanging out of a lamp heated choi mein tray, touched by anyone walking past! The meal is around £10, and the menu is quite expensive for an all you can scoff. Was recommended by a friend, took some more friends... All good. Had heard rumours about suspicious prices coming on a bill alongside descriptions in mandarin however we have never had any problems. my OH was really excited about taking me here - we made it to the steps leading up to the restaurant where the menu was located and i was disgusted to see that even in this day and age this establishment still chooses to sell shark fin!! despite the massive environmental impact that the unsustainable fishing of shark is having on the worlds oceans. also did u know that the sharks fins are removed while still at sea and often while the animals are still alive then the animal is thrown overboard to drown! this practice is wasteful and barbaric. i hope this is just a case of the owners being uniformed about what they chose to sell and if this is case my hope is they join the 100s of other restaurants in the UK that have chosen to remove SHARK FIN from their menus. read more

Have been coming here for years and majority of the time it's been decent service. However, recently received bad service. We went in at 12:08 and thinking it's early we would be done early, how wrong could I be. We were seated quickly and ordered the lunch special and drinks. The drinks arrived fast we then waited 15-20mins for soup. It then took a long time for them to take dirty pots away. Brought hot plates for the hors d'oeuvre, unfortunately it took so long for the food the plates were cold. We then had long waits for plates being taken away. We saw plenty of other people being served quickly from the Dim sum menu (!!???!!) After a further wait of 30mins for mains to arrive (on cold plates & lukewarm) we finally had enough. We asked for the manger and after another wait he finally came over. He wasn't interested in what we had to say. We left very disappointed and disgusted. Even if it's busy, ALL customers come first and should not be ignored for other customer types. read more

The outside of this place hides what is inside, its lovely!! The food is very good quality - worth the money. Chicken satay is amazing!! - We always get the banquet/buffet, £15 a head all you can eat, brought to you, excellent quality. I agree with the other comments though, the staff dont always make you feel most welcome, but the surroundings and the food make up for that!! P.S. Try the hand driers, they are lots of fun ;)!!! read more

The food here is ok although it can make you alittle thursty after due to the GSM. The environment is fantastic though.

I'm so disappointed to write this. Wong Ting was my favourite Chinese restaurant in Sheffield until I just read another review which includes a photo of the non buffet menu showing that they sell shark fin soup. I've only ever been off the buffet menu which they bring to the table so have never seen that they sell this. read more
