Food was good, not exceptional. Service was fast. However, if you do go to visit Wong Ting, make sure you are very careful that the waiter gets everything down absolutely perfectly. We were wrongly brought the 'main meal' version of an appetiser, and charged about 3 times as much... we did not realise this until the cheque arrived, at which point the waiter refused to acknowledge that he had made a mistake that we ended up paying for. I'd probably try somewhere else next time.

My friend and I spent a few days in Sheffield and our Air BnB host recommended this place for Dim Sum. He deemed it as the best dim sum restaurant in town and that the chef hails from Hong Kong, Perhaps this is the best Dim Sum in Sheffield but the quality standard is far from perfect. I found the shrimp rice noodle roll too thick and the prawn dumplings too starchy. The service was basic. We had to chase the waiters several times to add tea. It's odd that a dim sum restaurant would not ask us what type of tea we'd like. Different standards in Sheffield, or, just not that great? You decide.

Don't be fooled by the outside appearance, this is a nice restaurant, if a little off the beaten track.

Great food proper canton food just loving it will be back again when we are back from Spain thanks staff

Cracking not so little Chinese restaurant! In the middle of Sheffield just of the Moor sits Wong Ting. It's not the most modern or classy place to eat, but the food is lovely and the staff are friendly. Unlike traditional all you can eat Chinese restaurants, the food is made to order and delivered to your table. No greasy spoons hanging out of a lamp heated choi mein tray, touched by anyone walking past! The meal is around £10, and the menu is quite expensive for an all you can scoff. Was recommended by a friend, took some more friends... All good. Had heard rumours about suspicious prices coming on a bill alongside descriptions in mandarin however we have never had any problems. Would recommend!

Great restaurant. The menu is so extensive my gf and I…read moredidn't know where to start when ordering. We eventually decided on a dim sum platter, french beans with mince pork with chillies and a sweet and sour chicken dish. Both dishes were were very tasty and prepared to a very high quality. The staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is quite difficult to find as it is stationed underneath shops on the Moor shopping area, but we will definitely be revisiting. Highly recommended!!

T E R R I B L E …read more Went for dinner being the only one to vouch for this place as A) all you douche- I mean, fine people said it was great and B) I was starving for authentic Chinese food. There was one table with Cantonese ppl seeming to have a good time so I thought "Ok, this could do." What approached us was a zombie waiter clearly having given up on life many dynasties ago. I thought "It's ok, he'll see I'm here to appreciate real food, not the takeaway routine; it will be fine." I needed Google Translate and 20 hearing aids for every syllable wheezed. I asked "Does it come with rice?" He mumbled shit that made no sense and forced pointed me to the fried rice menu. Why would I want fried rice with my twice cooked pork. But I'm a first time visitor to the country so maybe this is how it's done here? I ask for green tea. I get a lonely pot of 3 leaves. I have never felt so insulted. My friends who only came here because I mentioned it was great flavors got shitty service and I was especially pissed off because the love of my life was given a plate and knife with visible gunk he wiped off politely and said nothing about because he is a beautiful soul, plus I couldn't find anyone to bitch out for 20 minutes until the food arrived. What I got was not what I ordered. The menu said the chef was specifically specialized in the kind of dishes from the Sichuan region. It wasn't twice cooked pork. That was an abomination with 2 slices of veg that had no business being there in the first place. No leeks? Imposter. We ordered 3 different portions of fried rice. It arrived in one pot enough for 2 and made it awkward to share while unable to ask any questions because who's going to understand anything anyway and plus no one appeared for another 30min. Oh but the check appeared lightning fast on its own. That was the angriest dinner I've ever had. Never been more embarrassed to open my mouth to suggest anything. So fuck this place. And screw you guys for telling me it was good. The 2 ppl I was with ordered sweet and sour chicken to be safe and even that was abysmal.

There were four of us eating out after work ... Our first choice zizzi was fully booked at 6.30pm…read moreso one colleague said to try U buffet. It was only round the back of Leopold square so we went. The buffet has the standard dishes from spare ribs, spring rolls, sea weed (you know it's not really sea weed right?) to Peking duck. I only had a few things which were fine, nothing special. I then picked some veg, beef and noodles and they stir fried it for me with a choice of sauce. I didn't have any other mains. I went for dessert, where I tried the strawberry mousse, mango pudding and jelly! My colleague from turkey had to photo my dessert as he thought it was funny that it moved .. I guess he meant it wobbles!! One colleague had the ice cream so another guy got one too.. But as he ate it, he pulled a face and went to pull something out of his mouth.. It was a very long hair!!! I mean long hair!! A staff member saw what happen and came over to see, and the boss came over. They apologised and said it was not made by them and couldn't have been in it when they opened the tub, and that it must been a previous customers hair. This must been true as it was a long greyish hair. They took the bowl away. They had offered to bring a fresh ice cream but it never arrived. Our Turkish colleague went over and he told the staff to give our friend a fresh ice cream ... As he said in his country they would be angry if that happened! The staff were nice, food was okay but it looks so much like a canteen rather than a nice restaurant to take friends and family. We had a laugh chatting together so it made up for the lack of ambience.
