On Feb, 19 2025 I purchased a space heater, and at checkout the young lady kept pushing the extended warranty and pushing, I refused it, like I always do, you see I believe that when you purchase an item with your hard earned money the quality of such item should be good enough that you shouldn't really need an extended warranty, these warrantys are a rip off in my opinion. I'm a plumber w a business and if I sell you a kitchen sink, guess what, I'll guarantee that sink as well as labor for a year, that's included, no questions it's automatic and I believe people expect that warranty and expect me to honor it. I do and always have. Common sense right??? Well the weather cools way down so I opened up my space heater, plugged it in and it was hardly moving any air, like there was a problem with the fan or something and it would get hot and trip my breaker, so I wrapped it up in the box and set it aside until I could return it. On the 27 of Feb I believe I gathered my receipt and headed to Atwood's. When it was my turn at the counter I explained to the lady what had happened and said I would like to return the item.She asked for a receipt, and I produced it, after staring at the receipt and checking over heater she says ,Did you purchase the extended warranty? I replied " no ma'am I didn't" she replied," well you have to have the extended warranty before we will return the item," I then saute, but it's only been 8 days and only used 1 time briefly, it's defective and explained what the item was doing. Shaking her head mouthing the word " no" over and over I asked , are you telling me that yr standard warranty that comes with every item sold in here does not cover any item sold in here and we have to purchase a. Extended warranty to be covered??????? She then got confused after trying to justify the policy she is babbling about but at the same time she is not sure how to respond because she is just repeating what someone has put in her head, but she knows I'm right in the common sense I just informed her of, then she points to the next register and say ," you'll have to talk to Bob, or bill, I forgot what his name is, but anyway I pushed my buggy in his direction thinking ok this guy will understand what I'm talking about,,,,,WRONG!!!! He's says you gotta have the extended warranty you will have to send it back to the manufacturer and blah blah blah, he said do u want to exchange it? I said no, he said you should have got the extended warranty your in your own you'll have to deal w the manufacturer, we don't do things like that, it's your responsibility. I then stated so your in store warranty doesn't cover anything for no amount of time and you'll exchange the heater right now but since I didn't purchase the extended warranty, you will not warranty you item I purchased and didn't work???? But if I had purchased the extended warranty, you will exchange the item and you will deal w sending , I remained calm and didntause a scene, but that's it in a nutshell. We had Pella windows installed in our home. An 11k project. Lowes managed to mess up SO MANY things…read moreit was unbelievable. The installers (outside sourced by Lowes) did a great job. Lowes is the problem! First, the Lowes delivery guy dropped the windows off lying flat on a pallet. This caused the 2 bottom windows to separate from their seal. The installer noted that and called Lowes before he left to tell Lowes and to order the replacements. 3 weeks later, when we heard nothing, we checked in and Lowes hadn't even ordered them - oh - and NO expedited orders are available...? Ok, so then when they finally did come in we let the installer look at two other windows that weren't closing properly and he agreed they were defective. This time Lowes did order them - BUT - only ordered 1 (it was 2 windows the same size). I confirmed with the Lowes rep that it is TWO windows and they confirmed - WELL - they only ordered ONE. We found this out when the installer went to pickup the windows. This time they ordered them about 1 week later. Finally, everything was installed within a year time frame (we had asked to not have installation during the winter). We had been discussing compensation for this disaster and they were noting it, seemed to agree, etc. Hmmm...no notations of this when the project was finished. They acted surprised and then offered $70.....$70!!! REALLY!! What an insult - we told them to keep it. We do (DID) a lot of business with Lowes as we have 2 rental properties not to mention projects on our own home. BYE BYE LOWES, hello Home Depot or Mernards!!

To me this is just a price adjustment done the wrong way. It would be difficult since the furniture required assembly and returning would be ridiculous. Update: 10/22. I visited the store and spoke with the manager, Vivian. She was most helpful and took care of the issue right then and there based on the receipt. She understood the policy but also knew it had to make sense. Based on this excellent customer service I am changing my 1 Star review to 5.
