When my daughter turned 3 we decided to get her into a ballet studio as an intro to dance. For the…read moremost part, we had a good experience at BAC but there are some areas where the studio could improve. Positives: Staff was generally nice and knowledgable. I didn't have any issues, but I would say I would have appreciated some updates on my child in class. A simple "your child is doing well with x, but struggling with y" or "they seem to like this or not like this". The BAC community is fairly supportive at the young kids age. Parents are supportive of each other and there isn't any diva behavior. The location of the studio is pretty good and the recital is held at The Florida Theatre which is awesome. The studio has ample parking and bathrooms were clean. Negatives: The younger kids studio seems to be in a pretty old building. Some studios have more modern setups. This is in general and not specific to Jax. I wouldn't say the studio is more or less expensive than others, but I would say that there are some months with holidays that subtract a class. I feel that if you have less classes in a month you shouldn't have to pay for a full month of classes. I do also like how many other studios provide parents with two tickets to the recital albeit maybe they are not half at the best location. It is hard to support your kids with extra practice or support because where they are in terms of learning technique or learning how to dance to choreography is not communicated proactively to you. I would have loved to know where my daughter needed support to help her. Overall, I would suggest you give BAC a try. My daughter enjoyed her first dance class experience. We were likely to stick with BAC for another year and recital, but we moved away out of state. Yesterday, while at the pool we had music playing and I caught my daughter dancing to the music. She wasn't dancing ballet, but she has a love of music and I like to think that was supported and enhanced at BAC.

Our biggest complaint was that they didn't respect our preferences. Whenever we expressed concerns about things happening in class that we weren't comfortable with or inappropriate songs being played, those concerns were ignored. As a result, our young daughter got to the point where she couldn't trust the instructor and wanted to leave despite enjoying ballet.

The…read moreinstructors are amazing and sincerely care about each and every student, as does the owner who is a champion on multiple apparatus and also a judge in national and international competitions. I can honestly say that signing up classes at Bittersweet was one of the best decisions I ever made. Everyone, including the other students, are incredibly supportive and welcoming. I have been coming for over a year and I look forward to every class. As a bonus I'm stronger than I've ever been and feel great. Please keep in mind that the negative reviews posted are primarily by people who are not students at Bittersweet. They spoke with someone on the phone, were late for class and wanted money back, signed contracts without reading them, didn't want to participate in warmup (which is essential for preventing injury and performance) or wanted to be put in advanced classes without meeting the standards set by the instructors for good reason - to assure safety and prevent injury. Students wrote glowing reviews because the studio deserves them.

Wow wow wow!! I've been wanting to take the leap and join this class...10/10 so thankful I did!…read moreDaniela is amazing and extremely supportive throughout the class. Her sweet bubbly personality is an added bonus. She will have you walking out of class feeling sore (in a good way) and overall accomplished. I'm hooked, and I can't wait to keep showing up and bettering my new skills with pole. If you're nervous don't be. Everyone is so supportive the entire time.Just do it, you won't be disappointed!

My family and I have been Y members for nearly 3 years until just a couple of weeks ago when we…read moremoved away. I unequivocally and 100% recommend the Y for a family. Staff are all generally all helpful. Front door staff try to be quick. The service desk can be quick, but lines do occur since there is generally only one or two people working it. The KidZone staff are the true gems of the Y. My daughter loved all the caring folks who watched her daily for a couple of hours while we worked out. I cannot tell you how great they are. I never used the training staff, but they were helpful when needed. The one staff member that completely sucks is the skinnier old guy with the grey beard. That guy has the ick and tried to shoo me away from equipment when I was working out on it just because he wanted it. I politely let him know the equipment would be available when I finished. The Y activities for our daughter were really great. During our time at the Y we participated in an Easter Event, Daddy Daughter Dance, Wellness Days, Christmas events, and more. This really helped us feel part of the community and I made some great adult friends. The programming staff are stars at their job. The indoor pool is amazing. My daughter went from zero swimming skills to being completely able to swim alone at 3.5 years of age. The program pool is heated and made teaching our daughter how to swim a great experience. Parking can be difficult at the Y if you come in the afternoon. Saturday mornings were also another time you would want to avoid the parking situation. It would be great if they paved the other lot and added lines. It was the Wild West down there. Additionally, folks will dent your car and not care or leave a note. Parking here with a nice car is a big issue especially if you want to avoid dozens of small dents and chips. The actual weight lifting area is perfectly fine. If you are someone that likes classic weight lifting gyms, this really isn't the place to join. You can get a great workout in, but I found folks lacked gym etiquette knowledge. Same for the running track upstairs where there are running directions for each day. The amount of folks that cannot read directions is a bit appalling. Additional areas that are great are the full sized basketball court with 6 hoops and the playground outside. I found time to play basketball every week. The one downside is no basketball league for adults and unequal time given to basketball compared to other sports. I would have loved a volleyball drop in too. Considering how popular volleyball is in the area, it would have made sense to add. Overall, the Y is amazing. There are many great staff members and many great members that made coming here a wonderful experience.

Located in a 101-year-old building that used to be an A&P grocery store, this space perfectly blends history, creativity, and community. I love that so much of the original architecture has been preserved -- and the fact that it was designed by a woman architect back in the day makes it even more special. The Cove offers so much: daily coffee service, cooking and cake-decorating classes in "The Lab," yoga and meditation on Wellness Wednesdays, Social Sundays focused on mindfulness and connection, and even Art & Wine nights where you can sip, snack, and paint while listening to live music. They're also about to open Sticks & Stones, a private cigar club next door that will be available to members -- it's going to be such a great addition to the experience. The next membership cohort begins November 1st, and spots are limited to just 150 members to keep things community-focused and personal. They also host networking events, lectures, and business education workshops, so it's a great mix of social and professional. Whether you come for a coffee, an event, or to meet new people, The Cove Social Club is one of those places that makes you feel instantly connected and inspired.
